  • wow, he has a warp tractor

  • Weeding helps soil erosion & loss of nutrients & minerals also avaporation of water. just plant tons of lettuce & the weeds wont grow.

  • @fatturdburger ... is that the way you grow your garden? Would be interesting to see......... Donald

  • @webcajun yes a couple of years ago I left sum lettuce to self seed & the next year they came up everywere. I'm just putting together a slideshow as I don't have a video of it I'll let you know when it is ready.

  • @webcajun hi Donald I finnished the slideshow with the lettuce if you would like to take a gander.

  • @fatturdburger ... just watched it, nice job.......... Donald

  • Thanks for watching my carrots aint no were near as big as yours they were huge.

  • @fatturdburger ... The main reason mine were so big was the length of time they stayed in the ground. I really should have harvest them a couple of months before but we were getting so much rain I couldn't get in there.......... Donald

  • you look like hoss cartright....I liked hoss alot

  • Dab-Gumit little Joe....... Donald

  • we are so old fashion, i still do everything by hand and with organic compost. I do have a smaller garden...

  • The size of the garden has a lot to do with how you do things. They are so many ways of doing it I don't think there's a wrong way........ Donald

  • i lived in mamou for a bit when i was a kid .we used a jenny mule and hares to weed.talk about hard work. gi and ha all day long

  • I never walked behind a mule, wish I had just for the experience. Probably make me appreciate that tractor that much more........ Donald

  • Hello again webC,

Nice Labrador BTW. We have a 3yr old Newfoundland, wish I could use him for plowing. Can't actually let him in the garden, he ploughs through everything.

Our garden is 3,500 sq feet. The weeds are unreal. I estimate that I remove 500 Lbs (by hand) each season. I use powered seaweed to fertilize and I guess the weeds love it more than the crop. We don't use any chemicals in the patch, preferring an organic route. But man, it a full time job. Your soil looks like P.E. Island

  • My hats off to anyone who can grow a large garden totally organic. I couldn't do it, that's for sure......... Donald

  • Guess the larger the garden the harder it would be to be organic, for sure. My only issue with it is the weeds. We try to grow as much as we can in the space so there's not much room between the rows, can't use the tiller to chew weeds, so; hoe..hoe..hoe. Seaweed is our main fertilizer and it's effect is almost miraculous. I've been told you can grow spuds in beach sand using just kelp(seaW) and nothing else and I believe it.

Your fields look awesome thanks for the time you devote to this "need"

  • I too have heard that sea weed is an excellent way to fertilize the garden. Thanks ........ Donald

  • great videos, one thing I noticed is you let the lift way down on your tractor to plow the weeds, if you'll just get the sweeps below the surface it'll actually do a better job.

    Jim

  • Each time I use them I learn a little more. Did you watch the last video I made about the oinons? I think they did a much better job....... Donald

  • When are you going to make more of your garden videos Donald

  • Great video! I'm sure it works for furrows and rows. For smaller plots, you may want to try the Turbo Weed Twister made by Ergonica. Or, after running your cultivator, when the sun is low, clean up the remaining weeds with this quick and powerful tool. Quicker than a hoe with brains.

  • Tell you what .... Send me one and I'll test it against my hoe.

  • in watching your video response, I'll use a regular hoe any day. much faster

  • For small weeds, the hoe is faster. For larger weeds the Turbo Weed Twister is faster and easier on your back, as well.

  • did you send him one?

  • Love this video! You made me laugh! i always have to do hand-weedin... Always lookin forward to your videos! Hope you are doing great! melissa

  • It's not always this easy Melissa.

  • I was starting to think that you never had weeds either! It's nice to know that you are normal! ;) Love your videos by the way. I have learned a lot from you. I planted my first southern garden this year, and growing up in the north there was alot that I had to learn. Thank you!

  • Your welcome and good luck with your garden.

I try to always start off with a clean area to plant in and try to keep it that way. I do find that the hotter it gets down here in Louisiana the less that hoe gets used.
