@VelhosNovos Hi. The 44 Magnum has a Brite/Normal toggle switch that I find very useable (I usually find bright mode on an amp to be too harsh or brittle sounding, but I like this one). I'm not sure whether the Volume knob adjusts input gain or attenuates power output, but it definitely does a nice job of adding texture to the sound as it is increased, especially beyond the 10:00 o'clock position where things begin to warm up. Running your POD in mono through it may work pretty well.
@pozacathotmaildotcom Hi. Thanks for watching. I have not tried using the 44 Magnum for bass, just as yet. However, you may wish to check out the EHX website. EHX recently posted a short YouTube clip featuring Mike Matthews showing off some kind of award for the 44 Magnum's performance as a power amp for bass. Both of my bass cabs are currently in remote locations, but when I can find the time, I may try a low-volume run of a bass played through my 4x12 guitar cab.
Thanks for the nice review, hope you can help me with my issue.
I use mainly a POD X3 Live to practice with my band so I dont have to move my boogie head, is it possible to connect this Power amp to the POD and crank it up to power a 4x12" cab? Do you think that the overdrive of the Volumen knob will change my tone? Thanks for the info =)
@rvx7b You're welcome, and thanks for watching. The 44 Magnum likes pushing 4x12 cabs! It's important to use a cab with an honest nominal impedence of at least 8-ohms. 16-ohms is safer, still. In order to maintain & feature the tonal character of your POD, limit the 44 Magnum's volume knob to between 9:00 o'clock and 10:30 o'clock positions. That's pretty loud. Beyond that, you won't get much increase in sound level; just more of the 44 Magnum's amp tone imposed upon the POD's tone.
Thanks for the video. Based on your impression of the break-up point do you think the 44 magnum or the 22 caliber is more appropriate for a bass without active electronics?
@MandatoryBeards Alas, I must report that I have no personal experience whatsoever with the 22 Caliber. That said, I do know a couple of guitarists who have used both amps, and they tell me the two units behave and sound similar to one another, with the 44 Magnum being somewhat louder and having more headroom. Sorry I could not give you a more definitive answer to your question. If you investigate further, I'd be interested in knowing how you make out with this. Rock on. God Bless.
Sounds good. Question: Is the power supply region specific or universal(120-240V for use in the US and Europe)? I can't find any info on the net.

I have just read that the 44 has a preamp built on it. DO you think I will have problem running my POD HD 500 into a 44 Magnum?

Can someone demo a bass guitar with this unit or will it work at all?

Great overview and review. I wish more gear videos had this level of detail. Sounds like I may have to buy one of these for my keyboard. Thanks!
