Health Care -- Taxing Junk Food?

I was at the store last night with my boyfriend, and we were deciding on what bread we should buy. I compared the prices of 2 loaves of bread. They were the same size and of the very same brand. The difference was white vs. whole wheat. Whole wheat cost $1.29, but the white was only $0.89. why the 40-cent difference? It should be the other way around, I think. Why would it be cheaper to go through the work to refine and process and strip all the good stuff out?
