"This is not about discrimination for homosexuals but Discriminating for marriage" - Guy speaking on behalf of Christian Lobby. WTF!!!! That did not make sense.
Christian lobby guy says; "only 0.2% got civil union in Tas" then what is he worried about. People should be able to marry who they want. I personally think religion is not a big deal in relations to marriage anymore. Atheists get married too. Aust polls for years now say that the majority of us do support gay marriage.
@onyajaws .....my sisters gay, so are some on my friends, but they don't vote green and dislike what that green queen Brown is doing in Canberra with those green feminists hags and witches.
Thats my mummy daddy and thats my mummy mum , these people have betrayed nature . Don't you buffoons get it , you,ve have allowed your minds be contaminated via the media , music ect . The fact that you think this is even half way normal says alot about yourself . Understand who's pushing this rubbish on our children who's funding this and why . Thats my daddy mummy and thats my daddy dad . Geez gain some knowledge
Jims argument is the good ole (irrelevant) argument of "it's traditional". Piss off, stoning adulterous women to death used to be traditional. Cutting young boys foreskins off used to be traditional, giving christmas presents is traditional. That doesn't mean any of these things should be LAW. Fuck your traditional, religious, bigoted view of marriage. We all know gay marriage will be legalised, it's just immature for these theists to block the movement. Religious beliefs are null concerning law
@CrystalSeaTV Should we ban a hetero couple where one or both are sterile from marriage? They can't have children. What about a hetero couple who choose not to have kids. Should we automatically divorce them? Homosexual sex doesn't produce AIDS, but hetero and homo sex can both just as easily pass it on. And yes, calling same-sex marriage any of the terms you've listed is enough for me to think you are unloving. Marriage is man-made, same-sex attraction is not. You have it the wrong way round.
Where's the EQUALITY between producing Children and producing AIDS?? Totally different FOR>>>>>>>EVER. You CHRISTAphobes don't get Marriage, you don't get what Australia NEEDS right NOW!! If you call us Bigots, if you call us arrogant, and if you call us so unLOVing, then why do you want to Marry LIKE CHRISTIANS. Call it a Union Speewnion, Call it a Rear ender Register, Call it
Leso Legislation, BUT DON'T CALL IT MARRIAGE. Marriage is NATURAL... SAME SEX SHIT is UNnatural, will be FOREVER!
another example of a hypocritical christian. I believe marriage should be extended to everybody - it's about equality. The majority of Australian's back marriage for same sex couples... let's get with the rest of the world and make it legal.
2:41 Of course you don't have a large percentage of the whole population taking advantage of gay relationship registration, but your figures would be a lot less effective at bolstering your cause if you gave the percentage of the gay population of tasmania who are in long term relationships that have taken advantage of it. Statistics don't count if you only say them because you're able to put them in a way to make them sound like they support your point. What a prick.
Mr Wallace is a classic example of how the only way to intellectualise and rationalise homophobia is through religion. Jim Wallace may quote some statistics when interviewed by a journalist of Jones' calibre, however we must ask ourselves - when Wallace hears about gay marriage, is his first thought really statistics? or is his first thought leviticus 18:22?
tell me... am i getting his message wrong or did his message have the effect of "we should not allow gay marriage that way we can guarantee stable families" no doubt he has mountains of evidence suggesting gay peeps are scandalously unstable home wreckers?
Narrow minded assholes. If the WORLD never changes. People in different countries will be still wearing their traditional clothes. Then peple wont be able to work as ONE. Things change and time wil change.
Today we end this discrimmination , it's ONE big step forward for the society.
Not long ago , ear pirecing are only for women. Contact lens are only for women. Dying of hair is only for women. Facials are only for women. All have change now.
okay i am christian and mr wallace, i support gay marriage, my mum who is devout catholic says she support gay marriage, my friends at school who most are christian largely support gay marriage... i don't know where you get your ideas from.
In the UK the only criticism that i herd was that it should of acted to change the laws and allow same sex marriage sooner. The only people that it affected was gay people. Australia as usual is a bit behind, i think it was 1983 NSW got rid of the sodomy laws 20years after the UK got rid of theirs
How frustrating was that to listen to? It's hard not to want to resort to violence when you hear arguments like Mr Wallace's.
We CAN love, care and commit to each other just as well as heterosexuals and we CAN give children just as good of an upbringing. Our relationships are just as valid as heterosexuals'.
And what about Britney's marriage? That lasted a few hours and was a total sham but yet we don't even have the option of marriage.
I would love to know where Jim Wallace's statistics come from; they certainly seem to contradict most statistics I've seen on the subject. The only thing more interesting than the statistics themselves is the way he applies them, which strikes me as rather misguided and fails to consider other extenuating factors. I think Mr. Jones was right when he said that a lot of the debate centres on the term 'marriage' and the notion of the 'institution'.
Wallis seems to think that only heterosexual couples are worthy of the institution of marriage, creating what seems to me to be a false distinction between heterosexual and homosexual couples. Fundamental parity exists between the emotional and spiritual (if you like) bonds in both 'kinds' of relationships. The distinction (in this case, the gender of the partners) is insignificant by comparison.
is this guy for real? marriage = stability? and he has the audacity to say bob brown is giving false facts! Also you can't quote the ABS as it only just started recognising same sex couples this last survey. I've filled in previous ones X single never married. even if its only 2% and not 10% or whatever, don't those people deserve the same rights as everyone else in Aust? We have so more more potential and good in this country than this guy from the ACL represents.

Brown!...you bloody liar, you are using gay issues to specifically to gain votes, you don't care about gay people!
The sooner gay people realise this the better...l think it's already happening!
As for liberal/national and labor, there are many gay people in these parties, gay marriage will come, no matter what party is in government.
Societal pressures will make sure of this, 'religious and green opinions will be irrelevant'.
Some advice to all..... learn to love, not to control!

Marriage is much more than just words. However which way you look at it, to many people it's just a ring and a signature.
We've completely missed what marriage has meant in society for generations, it's a pathetic debate.
Gay people want to get married only for recognition. Fine, but does it have to be marriage? would a civil union suffice? if not why not?
I mean are you really going to be doing that much more when your "married"?
