If you think a state is necessary, then what you're saying is that violent enforcement of some degree of a central, monocentric legal order is necessary / inevitable. Maybe it is, maybe there's no alternative, but just recognize that it's a system of constant war / threat and you really can't complain when the minority you're torquing around decides to hit back.

It's not that I endorse the killings, but if you poke at bears all the time and then get killed it's hard to feel too sorry for you.

Well, I would argue that you are wrong, and that "human nature" dooms democracy to interest groups locked in voting wars, rational ignorance, package deals, etc. and that the US and EU have been successes to the extent that they are still free.

His own? The human brain can only conceptualize about 150-300 people as actually being people. Your brain can't go beyond that, that's your "tribe". Random people who also happen to be claimed by the Norwegian state as "citizens" are not "your own".

I'm not arguing about this Brevik guy. I'm indifferent. He supports a state as well. That's a petty and irrelevant issue having to do with a small and not particularly relevant country's culture regarding the death penalty, nothing more.

An act of state is an act of war. All laws are violently enforced. Democracy / republicanism is simply the violent enforcement of the majority will over the minority. If a group of 5 people were harassing you and threatening to throw you in a cage if you didn't go along with their plan or pay them what they demanded, would you be wrong to blow them away? Of course not.

The specific grievances about multiculturalism are secondary. The state and democracy are the root problem.
