Reminds me of the knight Link lived with in A Link To The Past. He went off to rescue Zelda but was unaware of the immense powers of the duo of Agahnim and Ganondorf and he was mortally wounded. Link finds his uncle slumped against the wall dying. His final words is to save Zelda and that it is his destiny but he perishes before he can say "destiny". The only difference is Link's Uncle is resurrected. Hyrule's version of Shiro was not.

Wow, I remember this scene, didn't know so many people missed it. Whenever I play these types of games I always talk to everybody after an event takes place to see if their reactions change or if they have new information. Kinda brings a depth to the charachters. After I got the Ocarina I went through the whole town to see what everybody had to say about Gannondorf leaving with Princess, went to the alley and saw the soldier. This was during my second playthrough which I still haven't finished.

The guard's name is Shiro. A parallel version of him appears in Majora's Mask. If you use to Lens of Truth to find him and give him a potion he gives you the Stone Mask which you need to get inside the Music Box House. It is amazing how the Terminian couterparts of the OOT characters had larger roles in Majora's Mask. Sakon was just a random guy who was late for an important date in this game but is a full fledged character in Majora's Mask.

Seriously. When you actually read into the games, the amount of people who die is mind-boggling. And as a kid, you're blissfully unaware and just think, "YEAH! INTENSE ADVENTURE TIME!!" They don't usually imply it so obviously, so when I played TP with all those ghosts, it tripped me the hell out. I think I tried killing them, first...(The irony.)

I went back there on my first play-through, because I had an obsession to talk to every character in the game multiple times to see what they would say. After Ganondorf's betrayal, I had a feeling people would say some new things, so I went everywhere to talk before heading to the Temple of Time.

Despite people speaking as if they were shocked or surprised, the visual scene is alarmingly unchanged. The animators could've changed it up a bit....

Apparently if you go back at an earlier time he'll lead you somewhere and you'll get a key that unlocks a whole portion in the hyrule castle and you'll find a door and when you open it you'll find the ~bloody remains~ of the king.
