The translations are bad, but at least someone bothered to translate it over to English at all. And least you get the basic idea of the questions and answers. I'm really glad I got the chance at all to see this. Thanks to the uploader!
Gosh, I feel bad for the translator. No doubt she's gonna get criticized like crazy for a job that pretty much is impossible to do.
Also, did Miyazaki say he saw Little Mermaid when he was nine? I wonder what version he saw, 'cause that definitely means he never saw the Disney one. And there are definitely other versions out there.
And why do you act so questionable when he says he saw Little Mermaid at age 9? The story is centuries old and animations have existed way before the 80s Disney version.
You missed my point completely. I was simply questioning which animated version he saw.
The questioner mentioned Finding Nemo and Little Mermaid in the same breath, so he's obviously talking about the Disney version, whereas Miyazaki mentions an obviously different version. So I was curious as to which animated version it could possibly be, since most people don't know of any others. If you know of one, perhaps you can tell me?
The beginning of the answer about Little Mermaid he said
''When I first READ this story from letters...''
so I think he is talking about a book.
It is interesting what he thinks of Finding Nemo but I think he avoided the question unless the translation was so bad that they couldn't say Finding Nemo in Japanese which I think not possible.

That job's not impossible. It's just hard.
