keeptalking79 -- I never thought of paper with seeds in it. A great idea. Leads to all sorts of other ideas - like spacing of seeds in the garden w/o use of a seeder by just spacing them along paper strips. Possibly the paper could even be dipped in some appropriate fertilizer solution just before planting. Or for leguminous crops (THICK paper required) the nitrogen bacteria could be added to the paper - maybe?

I was thinking the same thing, the blender is going to cut, bend and deform the paper fibers much more than cutting will. Still a helpful video!!

Making paper is useful for certain purposes. I am going to make paper with seeds in it to use for wedding favors that people can take home and plant. To buy them costs $1 per tiny card (3 in. square).

Also, in the time it takes to make a piece of paper without the modern machinery that made it affordable to begin with, you could have done SOOO much more for the planet. 7 minutes to make a sheet of paper is called "wasting one's time" if I ever seen it... at the current rate (which I can clearly see could be faster, but by how much?) it would take 58 hours to make a standard stack of 500 sheets... (7mins*500sheets/60minutesPerH­our)

I say that if you want to make specific looking paper for a specific purpose, use this technique, but otherwise just buy some new paper. Doing this simply because it's recycling is a horrible idea, unless you're using a machine that is developed specifically for the process (because before that, paper was expensive, and it was expensive because of the time involved), at which point you might as well be a paper manufacturer. =P

Making your own paper really shouldn't be considered doing something green. It's just a fun craft for kids and people who like to add unique touches to gifts, cards and scrap books. You are able to use paper pilfered from waste bins at the local Kinkos, but it's not supposed to save the environment. It's just fun.

And all those paper towels and napkins used to make the paper can be used to make more paper, you don't have to waste it.

i appreciate the effort. but giving the time and resources it took to make the recycled paper you are better off just using a new paper. that would be more environmental.

electricity for blender, paper towel to dry it off, ink and many more resources are used. also the time it took you to make one paper could be put into a better cause. just my opinion anyway

i use a papermaking kit it has frames with what looks like screen wire, maybe you can recycle some old a4 frames and make some, you dont have to do all that pressing it just drains it self. when dry it just comes off.

THE ENTIRE POINT was that you Reuse stuff rather than just throwing it away.

Kids love this paper--and now you can just reblend it if they 'mess up' a masterpiece.

Most 'recycling centers' use more energy breaking down and remaking the items that we 'recycle' so they are infact not recycling anything.

The exception to this rule is Aluminum.

Please just don't give your trash to others to 'handle'. That's how we got into this whole mess in the first place.

yes, but realize that the energy required to find, extract and transport the raw material to make the substance compensates for this, which means that recycling isn't really that great, but it is still more efficient.

If it dosen't have to travel any farther than my house, it is more efficient than sending it off to someplace else to be recycled.

The motto is "Reuse, Reduce, Recycle" for a reason: That is listed in the number of resources 'spent' to make a product.

If you reuse something, no energy is lost on recycling.

If you reduce something, then less energy is used because you are recycling less.

and recycling is using more energy no matter how you look at it.
