Do you even know about the Mongolians and their Empire? I don't think you do. It's not just Chinggis Khan, there were many emperors, sultans ( Mughals, Babur) and kings. One of the Wonders of the World (Taj Mahal) was built during his reign and by his instructions. And did you know that Kublai Khan was the one who made today's Beijing for what it is today. You are right. From the Time of Tughluq Taimur the family of Chingiz and his whole main army Ordu converted to Islam and only shepherds of Orkhon valley were left on their old religion while the Kublai family was left off to China. By then the Mongols were inhabited in mainlands of Kashghar and Central Asia. All the Tartar tribes are not Mongols but it earned for them Mongol by the time of Chingiz Khan. All these tribes are of Turkic origin from Altai.
