@emmahollyoaks they repeat the 1996 onwards version on Challenge at seven and half seven in the morning or an hour later on Challenge plus one on Saturdays and Sundays, it just wish they brought it back for adults
There's a mistake in the video description. Don't you mean early 1990s. Speaking of which, this episode was made in 1992, although this recording was from a repeat run in 1996.
Actually this episode is from 1994 because 1. there was no 1992 season and 2. pat still had his mullet in the 1993 season even though it was recorded in 1992.
@dd2000fanatic the end credits to this episode say otherwise - I have it on a tatty beta tape and it distincly says (c) Scottish Television MCMXCII - roman numerals for 1992
@dd2000fanatic Just because it says "1992" doesn't mean that there were no episodes in 1992 - they could have ben recorded in 92 but transmitted in 93. After all, the early 93 series did start in january.
Also, he definetly did get rid of the mullet in 1991 - it's probably just that some mullet-era episodes did get repeated in 1993, except Scottish would have probably changed the "Scottish production" endcap on the end of the episode so that they don't have to mark it as a repeat = more viewers
I have proof that I am right. In the Ken Korda documentary about pat sharp it shows clips from the 1993 season and pat had his mullet. The season was taped before he executed it.
@dd2000fanatic It is likely the researcher for that episode has got the broadcast date from the datestamp on the end. As I say, Scottish TV could do and did change the datestamp and end logo on their programmes, so by law they don't have to mark it as a repeat. Even the tiniest change to the episode and they don't have to mark it as a repeat because it's not *exactly* the same as the original programme. they used to do this so they don't have to say it's a repeat so they can get more viewers.
@AidanLunn Secondly, the 1993 season began on January 8th 1993. Pat Sharp said that they used to record all a series episodes in one block (all at once, with one show every day). I don't think there'd be enough days between January 1st and 7th to record 14 episodes.
Thirdly, that series was recorded using the old Marconi cameras, which used analogue pickup tubes to convert the images into electrical signals instead of CCDs- the side effect of using these was "light trails" whenever something
@AidanLunn (continued) bright moved across the screen. Scottish TV chucked those out in late 1992, meaning that the episode which the above titles were taken from (which is available on youtube) was filmed in late 1992 and that *didn't* have the mullet, as those cameras were clearly used to film this series (well, clearly if you viewed them on a TV screen, youtube's image quality isn't detailed enough). Scottish's minor repeat editing seems to have fooled both you and a TV programme researcher!
