The people of Baltimore need to change their ways and start having their voices being heard. If they don't care, then die on the streets. But if they do, start making a difference one day at a time in your community and many will follow since it will spark a postive ambition and goal for the future.
its seems like the streets is like this because of people. people feel as though they cant do better for their own community. like yo it only takes 1 person to make a change in a community for anyone else to feel as though they can do the same. start planting. picking up trash. giving jobs to teens so they dont have to resort to drugs and gangs
Not to sound biased really, but the system is not exactly designed to help african americans too much...its not like it doesn't at all but not directly
Yea, I grow up in b-more too and i attended Cold Spring elem., then moved to E.V.(Edmonsion Vill) and attended W. Bmore Middle. I'm from Baltimore. I was born in the Cherry Hill Homes, moved up to waverly area, and now I'm livin on E. Oliver. You can't go anywhere hardly in the city without seeing the poverty, drugs, and violence. Something needs to be done. BPD are not doing the job so I think we need to. I sold drugs to make ends meet but I never killed anybody and now I'm in college at Morgan State.
Good for you. Turning a negative into a positive is hard to do and you conquered it. Stay strong. We need people like you who can relate to young people to let them know that there is hope. God bless you. :O)
I grew up in B-More in the 500 block of North rose st. I remember not too long ago my friends and I would play wiffle ball on the four corners of the street, and box free late into the night. I had the same public schooling these kids had and drugs was all around every day. I quit school in the 9th grad witch led me to dead end jobs making crap for money. I now am a hazmat tech. working in Baghdad, Iraq making $7000mo.what you see in most citys are lazy people that done see there lazy
If your from B-More then U know how bad the Poverty is in different areas of the city I'm Originally from Grape ST. Watts CA. I moved to B-More in 2000 to Park heights an Violet. because I was involved in the Gang life Cuz that's good you made it out an makin $7000 a mo. You say most Cities got lazy people but what about the Ones Trying to do some with there life but don't have those same resources I guess That s not your Problem. Why don't U do Something to Uplift yo Community!
Well I live in North Carolina now in a community most people dream about. The point is not how I can help a community, but why dont the people in them communities changer there own environment, pull together and help each other. Theres an old phrase it takes a village to raise a child. Since late 60s- early 70s instead of people caring about there communitys they let the youth run the streets, kids having kids, welfare and

beautiful...thx to the people for speaking out!
greetings from Europe Belgium
i've only known this since i bought "the wire" dvd's a while back.
i mean, about the condition in some area's of the city baltimore,it was a revelation to me aswell, not with the violence,no you have to look past that.
i've learned from it that: no1 guns should be made illegal without permits!!
and drugs should be DEcriminalized in some area's wich reduce violence.its not perfect i know...but people die every day!

instead of people trying to make a better life they use the system that was designed to help them for how can I use the system to my benefit.

This is serious. And glad to see the gap attempted to be closed by the kids and adults in this one.
