I will try and film it for you next spring and put the boom pole right over their heads for better audio quality. No problem and THANK YOU for checking out my vids ;-)
one of my favorites. still hoping to find one in illinois. I've read that the toad puncturing is a myth? Herpetologist have never actually reported observing them doing it.
Herpetologists have never observed it?? I am a herpetologist and I have Eastern Hoggies as pets. I have seen them pop toads several times focusing the pressure on the rear teeth. While this does not occur all of the time (some of them can swallow the toad without popping), I have personally heard the air escaping from the popped toad while being swallowed. Thanks for watching brother!!
i have an Eastern Hognose caught in iowa, and its about only 8 1/2 to 9 inches long. ive always been told that they will not bite u but will act like it.. true?
I have heard of very few people being bitten by eastern hoggies. I personally have never had one try. They throw plenty of bluffing strikes your way, but never actually chomp. I have a close friend who was bitten while capturing one, but he only received minor swelling in his hand. Others are bitten as a feeding response
U seem like really cool person...I wanna be ur friend....I have always wanted a friend with an accent....so if you accept me...here's my email...mandigirl3ts@gmail.gom
I love Hognose Snakes so much! They are so adorable! I love their feisty attitude too!! There is a video here on YouTube of one playing dead (the guys were harassing him really badly though, made him regurgitate his toad and everything :/) but, they are so dramatic when they play dead haha, the 'dying' lasts like a whole minute. Can they e found in Maryland? I would just LOVE to find a wild one! Thanks!
Yes, they can be found in Maryland, but you are running into the extent of their range. You would have better luck farther south, but capturing one there is still not impossible. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy :)
@gatorhunter92 I will definitely be looking for them! Too bad I have to go alone, no one around here is even remotely interested in snakes. But I know that they like sandy coastal habitats, so the next time I go out to my grandmothers house (Eastern Shore) I will definitely be on the look out for one of these amazing creatures!
@gatorhunter92 I live in the Catskill Mountain in New York, I find them pretty often. You said that they come in a wide range of patterns and colors. Thats an understatement. Your videos are very informative and educational Keep up the good work.
Thanks buddy and I wish I could say that I catch Hoggies all the time. They are considered common here, but their populations are abundant only in specific areas. Enjoy your New York Hogs!

@gatorhunter92 hey, i really wanna find one of these snakes, but i dont know if any are around where i live, i live in paris texas, dont know if you've heard of that but are there any at or near the red river that splits texas and oklahoma, please reply back
Yes, Eastern Hognoses inhabit that area as well. They are more abundant there in my opinion than they are here. Good luck in your search for them. Thanks for watching buddy :)

Congrats buddy. I have yet to get me a mud snake this year, but I did catch another coachwhip today, a canebrake rattler, and another Louisiana Milksnake. I am going hunting for more canebrakes tomorrow. Best of luck to you man and congrats again. Mud snakes are BEAUTIFUL. Send me a pic if you get a chance.
