This to me is my John Lennon's "Imagine", probably the most moving song I've ever heard.
Whenever I get caught up forgetting about helping others, forgetting about standing up for those in need, whenever I get too self interested, I listen to this.
these guys talk on real things while new rappers only rap about girls exotic cars and how much money they got while where here struggling being underdogs trying to make a damn dollar out of 15 cents and its still not enough when it comes to paying rent. much respect bro. peace
@MrRedeyes93 Boots plays everything out. I don't believe there is one on this song. Dude's just a monster with the beats. Most people just don't know that.
oh yeah and all you bitches discussing what communist is this that. wtf makes you think you can talk for what people's politics means?! huh motherfuckers? give me break. yr logic is so inconsistent its a joke. what makes you think everybody with one simple label beleives one thing? if you are going to make lies with yr parasite worshipper self and purist coward then perhaps you should place that same kind criticism to the various democrat and republican parties worldwide? dviider bitches :P
@communistfun Think of it this way. Both forms of government are a type of slavery. Capitalism/Free Market. and democracy allows you to choose your destiny, yet there will always be a great divide between rich and poor. Only the intelligent, successful, and lucky ones make it . In communism, everything is equal. Well, in theory anyway. At the same time , your destiny is chosen for you. Both systems have their flaws. Coomunism allows leeway for dictatorships, democracy makes the great divide.
@RedCrescentDemon Actually under communism the means of production are supposed to be democratically owned by the workers, and the state is supposed to be abolished. If you want an example of a truly communist society, look at the Anarchist communes of spain, not countries like Cuba or the USSR.
@Putzpie4U So in other words. You get what you worked for in its full value. On top of that, you don't have inspectors, regulators, or taxmen trying to sap as much as they can from you. What you earn is strictly what you worked for. No bullshit. But without a central government making the rules, how can crime be controlled? If there are no rules, doesn't this leave a wide gap for people to exploit upon?
@RedCrescentDemon The biggest exploitation we have is that of privately owned property. I mean things like factories or land, not possessions. Because of the state you have people who have a monopoly over the means of production. Sure you can start your own business, but you need a lot of money if you expect to do that.
Once you address this issue and organize society so that everyone's needs are met, you eliminate a lot of the situations that lead to people committing crime.
@Putzpie4U Yeah I agree about the property issue. The fact that at any time the government can take away your property and choose the price for it makes in pointless to pay fucking property taxes. Fucking shit head government if you ask me,
@RedCrescentDemon And the fact that the government is run by the rich because the poor can't afford to run is some shit too. The best thing to do would be abolish the state and let communities manage themselves and run things to meet their needs, as well as abolish capitalism so we don't have a minority of people who possess so much power and can buy everything out.
@Putzpie4U Yes. I'd prefer a truly FREE market instead of a government that allows monopolies and imperialism to occur. If this were to happen, then everyone would truly get their work's worth. Instead it's just the big guys beating the little guys.
@RedCrescentDemon Except that the only logical conclusion of capitalism is a monopoly where those with the most money just buy out the competition or put out their goods at an unbeatable price.
Not only that but the market is unnecessary. We can easily allocate goods without money, and we don't get a situation where someone who needs a house can't get one, yet we have thousands of empty homes. The workers are the ones who made these goods, shouldn't they be the owners of them?
@Putzpie4U I don't know about the concept of allocation good without money. Everyone wants to get paid. BUT the workers SHOULD be the owners of what they make. That's what's fucked up about it.
@RedCrescentDemon Actually that's what communism is. An economic system where the workers democratically own workplaces and goods are distributed based on need. In the anarchist communes of spain during the civil war some places would either handle this by issuing labor credits (didn't circulate like money) for work, or just straight up letting people take whatever they need. You should check out "living utopia" if you can find it, it's a great documentary about anarchist spain
@Putzpie4U But what about crime? What handles crime in an anarchistic system? And what about all the communist systems that have become corrupted with dictators? It seems that communism always leads to a dictatorship.
@RedCrescentDemon If you can garuantee people well-being, a lot of the reasons for committing crime go down. I mean, you'll still have some crimes, but that exists even with the police, however preventing high poverty really helps.
Also, all the systems with dictators were communist societies where they didn't abolish the state and weren't lead by the working class. It has to be an action of the masses and they have to get rid of the state, or else a minority will always rule
@Putzpie4U So in other words, those dictator- communist systems were formed because the true concept of it wasn't followed. But at the same time, humans will always follow their greed. there's always gonna be some dickhead out there exploiting others. that will never end. I think it'd help if there was some regulated way that a communist system can stop that. Otherwise, every communist system that starts out with good intentions will turn out as a dictatorship once more.
@RedCrescentDemon Actually the dictator communist systems formed because it was a minority trying to represent the will of the working class. The thing is that the working class themselves must be the ones to set up the system, not a vanguard. Otherwise the vanguard just ends up being the new class of elites.
@Putzpie4U So, because the people did not move together to construct a system that supports them all, they let some idiot handle the administrative duties and ultimately chose their own doom in doing so. But are there any successful communist systems that aren't dictatorships now? Has there ever been a time that communism and its entire theory worked positively?
@RedCrescentDemon Actually the Anarchist Communes of spain I talked about earlier are a good example. There's also the Free Territory of Ukraine, and the paris commune to name a few.
@Putzpie4U Hmm. I should probably look them up. Still though, with the greed of mankind, it's a not a system that could work for everyone. I mean, capitalism is fucked up too, but even the lower echelon who live under that system live much better than the poverty ridden people of those dictatorships.
@RedCrescentDemon Not by much. And in Orwell's book Homage to Catalonia he says, "Many of the normal motives of civilized life--snobbishness, money-grubbing, fear of the boss, etc.--had simply ceased to exist. The ordinary class-division of society had disappeared to an extent that is almost unthinkable in the money-tainted air of England; there was no one there except the peasants and ourselves, and no one owned anyone else as his master"
@Putzpie4U A place where one truly is what he makes himself out to be without any outside force or faction stopping him. A place where people truly choose their own destinies. Sounds nice. Gotta read that book some time. I'm the kind of guy that likes to give every kind of thought or perception a try before truly basing an opinion on it. You've just given me a book I'm gonna go out and read.
this guy is a bloody genius lyricst, he spoke truth about the adverse situation most black ppl wer in, in the nineties. unlike rappers like snoop, nwa, westside connction that wer negativ fronters about it
@troythomas1 everything you said is something i've known for a long time.and i know communism never really existed(except in books).i simply find the statement:"communists don't sell records" funny.other than that i like the coup.have all their albums on original copies.have a good one
@inFLUence2508 Does Bill Maher realize that we still live under capitalism? I'm a Commie, my damn self, but I realize that under capitalism, things cost money. Things like building movements cost money. While under Communism, we wouldn't sell records, under capitalism, artists have to eat, too.
Crosstown the situation is identical/Somebody's getting strangled by the system and its tentacles/Misconceptions raise questions to be solved/Alot of b-boys are broke, alot of homeless got jobs/You can make 8 bones an hour till you pass out and still be assed out/
Boots came to my school last week and gave us a speech about hip hop, politics, and social change. And he performed this for us acappella.
