the game has a cool concept but it really does take forever to build up the types of armies they're displaying... and I have a good computer that plays bioshock just fine yet this game lags like crazy when an army with more than 20 people start fighting... the lag is just ridiculous...

Yes thats true i got the game, You start having one type of troop (Light infantry) and a melee and a ranged weapon in the designer (sometimes a shield too). You can researd Mediuam infantry and heavy infantry. And you can research new weapons as crossbows, longswords, axes, throwing spears, knifes, spears and much much more, theres three different nations/teams Egypt, Persia and Sparta. What weapons you can get to equip your warriors depends on the Faction you are playing as...

cause bow and axe are 2 handed weapons you can only use shields when ur weapon is a sword or a 1 hand weapon...

I got "Great War Nations: the Spartans" (which is the sequel to this game). The problem is that the game advertises that they've added a 4th faction (Macedonia), but the Macedonians are only available with the Alexander campaign. Strangely enough, you can't use the Macedonians in Custom Battles. Still, this game is a pretty sweet RTS title.

By the way, you can't compare R:TW with this game. They're completely different games.

Not as far as I know, there oculd be, but you could make a map specificly for a 2v1 by giving 1 player 2mines and 2villages(there not mains, but give a population increase)

There two diffrent games, both RTS, sure, but this is more one where you personally equip your troops and they can get exsperience and abilitys like a hero, Rise and Fall is quiet like a standard rts, it seems to use the Empire Earth engine, you can direct third person (it zooms the camera to a proper third person) to hack and slash your enemys or use your bow for a more skillfull aproach.

There both good games, but quiet diffrent to be just compared.

Try the demo's First I think.
