  • Wow, i never thought a j-bass would sound that good with flatwound strings on it. I got a '75 and it sounds killer with roundwounds. I'll try flats someday. Nice bass playing btw. Cheers!

  • i love janis!!!!!!!!!! you rock baby!!!!

  • hey man do you have the tabs ? by the way u play very good :D

  • tabs?

  • @5123963 Sorry, but no. It's a 6/6 blues in (I believe) F# minor. So besides that, it's improvised, I didn't use a tab.

  • @SubwayRed

ok, gracias por responder , de cualquier forma eres impresionante y el video es muy orientativo.......... saludos desde mexico

  • how do you get that tone out of your bt100? i just got one today and i cant seem to get it out of sorta growly and trebly tones, and i want somthing clean but need help plz reply

  • @hitopsful Well, this video's pretty old, so I don't know exactly what I was using then, but I still use the same amp, so I set my knobs like so:

    Lows: 3 o'clock, Low-Mids: 5 o'clock, High-Mids: 11 o'clock, Highs: 10 o'clock

Part of it is also the strings, I was using Fender flatwounds in this video, so they're a lot smoother than roundwounds. Now I play with Fender nylon tapewounds, best strings ever if you're looking for a nice warm, smooth tone.

  • @SubwayRed okay thanks allot!

  • @SubwayRed Thanks very much ill try those settings

  • ooh good!

    u are amazing (:

  • Crate BT100

Can you use that with a drummer where both you AND the drummer will be able to hear you?

Drummer and guitar player and you?

  • @12345JJBB You know, you wouldn't think so, but I absolutely can.

In fact, I play in a band with seven members and I have no trouble at either practice or small-medium sized gigs. It's a great (and affordable) amp.

  • @SubwayRed

If you had the choice to go back and pay the extra money for a 200 or 180 (whatever the next size up is) would you do it? Like what would you reccomend?

  • @12345JJBB It's hard to say, because I bought it from a friend for $100 and a used trombone. So it would depend on how much more money, but I can tell you that I have played everywhere from bars to festivals to auditoriums with this thing and I've never felt like it wasn't cutting it. So unless it's just a minor amount of cash for the next size, I'd say go for this one.

  • @SubwayRed Alright sweet, I have some investigation to do, thanks a lot man for replying

  • Im more interested in the fret hand than the plucking hand....

  • @12345JJBB You wouldn't be impressed, my fretting hand has awful technique haha.

  • you have a tab please

  • @jojo5517 Sorry, I kind of play it differently every time. It's a blues progression in B minor, so use a blues scale over that progression and you could figure it out.

  • perfecto

  • I really like the sound. Is this amplifier the real deal? The bass you don't need to explain at all.LOL

  • Aye man, where did that recording take place? Nice job by the way.

  • I'm actually not sure where it's from, it could be any number of places.

  • Hey, my mate has a cratebt100 and he has a problem, it goes into the limit thing. I think its something with his EQ, could you tell me how yours are set up? Just like a clock :) Like, highmid on 3 oclock :D I'd be happy then!

  • Well, I usually have it as follows:

    Level: 12 o'clock

    Lows: 3 o'clock

    Low-Mids: 4 o'clock

    High-Mids: 11 o'clock

    High: 10 o'clock

And then my master volume is wherever appropriate, hopefully that helps.

  • I have the same bass but with a rosewood fret...and it apears you put in new pickups. ( if that is the Made in Mex 70's jazz reissue) What are your nobs set at cause its a really brite bass so im thinkin of putting some flats on their but .50 gauge.

  • It's not a reissue, actually it's the actual 1970 model. It was my dad's; I'm pretty sure he replaced the pickups, and I know he replaced the bridge.

  • sweet!

    really good man

  • Thanks!

They are .45 gauge Fender flatwounds, my second favorite strings to use (my number one strings are Fender nylon tapewounds, they are AMAZING).

  • Wow! Love it!!!

  • omfsanta claus.. ur awesome, if u were in edmonton alberta canda, u should totally join my band!
