  • delightful !

  • @elenagoethe Wonderful to hear from you, and many thanks!

  • Can anyone please tell me the name of this waltz? Thanks.

  • @Escul1960 Working on it, sadly with little luck. I'll keep in touch!

  • beautiful Ava - perfection

  • @goldenpassages As she will always be! Ava's beauty was unlike any other! Her only rival, to me anyway, was ethereal Gene Tierney! Thanks, and wonderful to hear from you!

  • It's hard to understand why Rudolf did not let his English friend, the Prince of Wales, help them. If they had reached England they could have either stayed there, or have made it to complete safety in America. Yet, they did not. Why?

  • @67rml with only 500 words at my disposal I can't begin to do justice to your question, but Queen Victoria would have never allowed such a irregular liaison into the United Kingdom, and no member of the Royal family would have 'received' them so the doors of the high society would be have been closed to them. What would the pair have lived on? What money Crown Prince Rudolf had was from the state. The real story of Mayerling is far more sordid.

  • The Empress Elisabeth knew she would not see Rudolf again alive. That is why she asked to see him. The Hapsburg court system was utterly rigid even for the Crown Prince. There was of course no rational reason for this and the idiot Franz Josef was but a puppet.

  • @67rml Franz Josef was not an idiot, still less a puppet. The film is very much a sentimentalisation of the truth.

  • Princess Sissi maintained a weight of 110 lbs through her life, no offense to Gardner but she sure doesn't look it

  • @PsychoShirley Delighted to hear from you. Thanks for your contribution! Happy Holidays to you!

  • @PsychoShirley her Imperial Majesty was the poster girl from anorexia before anorexia became 'fashionable.' People are fascinated by her, yet she seems tiresome, spoilt and restless through her entire existence.

  • la deneuve as always perfect

  • @siempremarisol yes :) well what we see is but I cant imagine her being anything less that AMAZING anyway :D

  • In" North By Northwest," the actress who played Cary Grant's mother, Jessie Royce Landis, was several years younger than he was. Angela Lansbury was three years older than her "son" Lawrence Harvey in "The Manchurian Candidate"

  • Omar Shariff looks a lil to old to be Ava Gardner's son

  • @1983CUEVAS You're fun! Omar was born in 1932; Ava in 1922! What a young mom, indeed! You're very observant. Hollywood will always jerk us around regarding age. When I watch this clip I still marvel at the beauty of these two! Thanks so much for your comment.

  • Rudolph was a asshole!
