@67rml with only 500 words at my disposal I can't begin to do justice to your question, but Queen Victoria would have never allowed such a irregular liaison into the United Kingdom, and no member of the Royal family would have 'received' them so the doors of the high society would be have been closed to them. What would the pair have lived on? What money Crown Prince Rudolf had was from the state. The real story of Mayerling is far more sordid.
