@chenierchenier I have the deepest love for Bach, but I have never forced my girlfriends to like Bach, nor called them "poor" when they chose pop music over Bach. I accept the fact some of them hated Bach. It's just a matter of taste.
Loving certain music doesn't mean you are superior.
Although I understand well about that feeling, I believe music is something deeper than that.
@ttwiligh7 Wrong. There is no taste in music - just different beliefs and factors of influence. There is also a great deal of experience involved. We listen to Bach because we have experienced him at least once spiritually. Some experience come easily; some not so easily due to influences.
Also consider the levels of "expectation". Someone could listen to an amateur performance by Bach and be moved deeply while others requires a well refined one for the same effect. Interpretation matters.
@NimbleTurtle13 I used to listen to Beethoven's symphonies a lot when I was in kindergarten. Bach blew them when I was 10. Although my father was the one who introduced that, he never likes Bach. We both love Mozart, but never share favorites. And now I choose squarepusher over Beethoven. It seems to me that I was born to love ceartain music whatever happens. There surely is something called personal taste. Just like I love one paticular woman.
Accultus...your thinking is right on.....a really nice performance of Bach's " BEREITE DICH, ZION"
will happen with Alto Sax and Grand Piano,
it is much fun and really moves. Although it is from the Christmas oratorio it is a great play any time of the year. (the sax player will have to write the transposition).
I transcribed this for oboe solo and string quartet, and did it as well for english horn and string quartet, and played BOTH versions. It seems like a natural instrumentation. This is SUCH a beautiful piece! Thanks for posting this too! :)
My heart sings from the tallest heights to hear this once. The gravity of each note pulls you into a new mind

The Organ has so many 8-foot-stops, it would be nice to hear them all together in the second part.

I know it's not a 'classical' instrument but, the solo may sound nice with an Alto Sax.

This is the same pice I'm learning,I'm suprised how few other organists play it with a flute 4' as the solo.

I am not an organist, but it sounds like the solo setting is for a recorder...

Hi Does there a recording exists of that
torkrist 4 years ago
No, unfortunately, nor has the sheet music survived. It was back in Junior College in the 1970s.
