You people are so stupid. The reason Viagra is insured is because people use it to treat a medical condition called Erectile Dysfunction, commonly called ED. Not everybody who uses it is a college kid that wants to get hard when he's drunk. Birth control is not covered by insurance because fertility is not a medical condition. You can't expect taxpayers to pay for your drugs that you don't NEED but WANT.
so, irish... you'd prefer that, as taxpayers, we do NOT have insurance companies pay for birth control, not help supply birth control to those who want it and can't afford it, but then we end up paying for all the products of that negligence? yeah, well that makes sense.
Actually, birth control is very often used to treat certain medical conditions, such as ovarian cysts, which, in my opinion, outweigh erectile dysfunction in urgency.

McCain Experienced and wise. In times of missile launches by countries that hate us , why are we concerned about birth control? Iran would love to kill us all.. no need for birth control then.
you're the reason why america is stupid. you've bought into this fear mongering bullshit, and you're forgetting about everything else that our nation faces
Experienced in what? He has, numerous times, shown he can't keep the facts straight, can't remember, or both. This does not make him wise. Keep thinking out of fear, as our response to the Iraq threat has shown how good that approach works. NOT.
He always comes across as not knowing what he's said, what he's going to say or even where the hell he is-TRULY INSPIRING!!! I can already feel the patriotic goosebump rush coming on- WHERE'S MY FLAG?
McCain was asked whether or not it's fair for health insurance companies to cover Viagra for men, but not birth control pills for women. The fact that he couldn't answer this no-brainer (of course it's unfair!) but "has to get back" to us on that one speaks volumes about the worth of all the "outreach" he's trying to do to women voters.
You gotta love the fact that when asked about his own opinion on the subject, he couldn't answer that.H ow can you be a president if you don't even know what the hell your own opinion is?
He doesnt have his script and his puppeteer Joe Lieberman is not there to wisper the answer, like a manshurian candidate encountering a situation for which hes not programmed ;)
I'm surprised insurance companies wouldn't want to cover birth control: since it seems like they'd have to pay out far more money to cover a woman giving birth...?
Embarrassing, just purely, absolutely embarrassing. The more he campaigns, the more he's starting to turn into another Bush plant.
He's a vet and a POW that's all good and all, but the guy can't even do the job he's elected to do as a senator (missing over 60% of votes on key issues), how can anyone expect him to do the hardest job in the world as a president? Anyone with an ounce of IQ can see through that.
You want to talk about ethics, go look up the Keating 5. McCain also carried on a relationship for 8 years with a female lobbyist. His campaign is filled with bit time lobbyists who lobby for despots and dictators.
So much for "straight talk". He can't answer the question because he's on the record begin against health insurance company coverage of birth control. But he can't just say that. And he's not smart enough to think of a good dodge while he's on the spot. Kudos to the reporter for persisting.
SQUIRM! How hard is it to say no the government should not be mandating anything?
And what's up with the news guy at the end saying McCain later says he supports competition, THOUGH we looked it up and he voted against mandating insurance companies cover birth control. Why the THOUGH used like a BUT? Not mandating would mean it's left to market competition.
Slimy, brain dead politician and slimy, brain dead news people. They deserve each other.
Folks this all part of his act. He looks puzzled and appears to be candid by saying he doesn't know. Of course he knows how he voted. He's just trying to duck the question.
He's done this before and the media lapdogs just...well....lap it up!
Must have been a well thought out, heart-felt vote since he cannot recall it. The guy misses over 60% of the Senate votes you would think he could remember those he attends.
You know why it took him so long to respond? Because he was thinking what the right thing to say was. McCain's thought process, "Damn, I use Viagra...wait this is a serious question. What is my position on this. Can't say that I am for birth control. Can't offend women. Want to say I'm for woman's equal rights." Finally, duck issue and find something politik to say later after consulting with my PR guy.
McCain's halting response to this question demonstrates why somebody his age (and getting older every day) should not be president. I'm 51, and my mental acuity is still very good, but not what it used to be. McCain is, no doubt, a very intelligent man. But 72-to-80 year-old brains just don't work as well as 46-to-54 year-old ones. And that's a flat fact.
He's not going on Jeopardy!, so I fail to see why the guy must be quick-witted. Maybe Obama's brain is "sharper", but I don't like his thought processes, reasoning skills or his positions on the issues.
It isn't about being quick-witted. It is about overall mental acuity. As a psychotherapist, I know precisely what happens to the brain as it ages. I also know that the most gravely important job in the world requires ALL of one's marbles. I have no quibble with you sincerely disagreeing with Obama's positions. But from my anecdotal clinical observations, his thought process and reasoning skills are nothing short of brilliant.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
One doesn't have to be a psychotherapist to understand how the brain works, and deteriorates, over time. However, some of our greatest leaders in the West were well into their 70's when they held office (e.g., Churchill, Reagan, etc.). Presidents are surrounded by staff members, that keep them apprised of situations. Invariably, these people help them make important decisions. Obama's reasoning skills are far from "brilliant", and I seriously question his ethics. He's a glorified Jesse Jackson.
bruthav - We're electing the leader of the free world, not staff members to keep that leader apprised of situations. The question was simple and he dodged it. And is Obama a glorified Jesse Jackson because of his reasoning skills or something else?
It was a simple moral question that his campaign rep answered with ease. A "dodge" shows a lack of principle and character for the sake of political expediency.
bruthav - Your comparison of Obama is not an attack on how he communicates but an inappropriate and racially charged assault. You realize you are comparing a Mad TV caricature of black convict to the most eloquent, inspiring speaker in our political era. Obama is far more substantive than McCain, who can only spew GOP talking points.
Good God Almighty, bruthav. To compare Obama to Ted Bundy and Hitler. Your post appears desperate and hysterical. First, read Obama's books before you say that he is only eloquent, but empty. You have not done your research. And to compare Obama to Hitler also compares his supporters to the followers of Hitler and I take umbrage to that. Shame on you. Res ipsa loquitur, indeed.
It has nothing to do with political correctness. If you want to use racist comparisons or compare Obama to Bundy or Hitler, go ahead. But don't whine like baby when you get called out on it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, it's OK for McCain to dodge a question. Don't confuse dodging a reporter's question with dodging a question from a prosecutor while under oath (a la Bill Clinton).
Also, I did read up on The Keating 5 and found that after a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee criticized McCain (and the other four) the other four for "questionable conduct." After a lengthy investigation, this is all that they did.
I see you don't won't touch any of my other points. It's just the tip of the iceberg. My point which you miss, is that you're willing to give McCain a pass on any moral or character flaw. Why choose the lesser of two evils, if that's how you really feel.
Go vote for Bob Barr, at least he's a true conservative.
Furthemore, Robert S. Bennett (yes, the same man that defended Bill Clinton), whom McCain had hired to represent him in this matter, defended McCain's character and was one of many people who criticized the piece. Bennett, who was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal that The Times revisited in the article, said that he fully investigated McCain back then and suggested to the Senate Ethics Committee not to pursue charges against McCain because of "no evidence against him."

Maybe you missed my salient point about there was only "questionable behavior" found on McCain's part, and that Robert S. Bennett was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal. Pay attention you mongoloid. Play that on your guitar.
And Rezko??? Obama had a 92 minute Q&A session with about 3 dozen reporters from the Chicago Tribune. This is the paper that broke the Rezko story in 2006. He was forthcoming and answered every question according to the paper. It's been nearly two years since the story broke and no new revelations have come from this story.
bruthav proves that YouTube comment boards are where America's racists gather in force. You have yet to provide one substantial point as to why Obama's judgment is any worse than McCain's or why McCain would be a better president. Furthermore, your racial language is disgusting, immature, and reflects a deep lack of understanding of America's painful racial history.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Maybe you're having difficulty reading my posts. Let me spoon feed you. 1) I do not like McCain; however, he's the lesser of two evils; 2) Obama has said that Rev. Wright was the most important man in his life, and like a father figure to him. Plus they had a 20 plus year relationship; 3) Obama missed 43.5% of votes in the Senate -- 3rd worst record; 4) He personally benefited financially from the Tony Rezko; and lastly 5) more than anything else, he makes no sense when speaking. Platitudes.
Spoon fed by you! Don't make laugh. McCain has missed over 60% of his votes including the latest Medicare vote.
I'll be happy to talk about Rev Wright, when you can talk intelligently about the history of African-American churches in this country. If you didn't walk in Wright's shoes as a black man during the 60's you would understand it. The Rev Wright is just your way of deflecting your own racist views, as you have already shown.
I question his reasoning ability. I don't know whether it is the natural process of 'ageing' or something more serious. Possibility it is a residual effect of the torture he experienced. Whatever the cause he is not mentally capable of leading this country.
Hmm. Please elucidate your claim that Obama is far from brilliant (have you read his books?) and why you question his ethics, as opposed to McCain's. Offer details, please. And I stand by my statement that, in the last years of his presidency, Reagan was not a competent leader.
There is no excuse not to cover BCP's. There are medical conditions that require the use of BCP's that are life saving to women and not at all about birth control itself.

And this is the kind of retard running for president?!. He doesn't even know how to handle a key question to his believes.
Ron Paul is the only candidate with solid, consistent, judicious, and honest believes and plans to design a new America... for good.

I'm surprised insurance companies wouldn't want to cover birth control: since it seems like they'd have to pay out far more money to cover a woman giving birth...?

"He supports competition in the health care industry?" How is that an answer to any of the reporter's questions? Nice straight talk, Maverick!

wow...and I'm supposed to believe there are embittered Hillary supporters who are going to back this guy?!?!?
dmdstrhalo 3 years ago
First, McCain is an incompetent douche.
Second, look at CNN's headline for this: McCain Asked About Viagra, "I certainly do not want to discuss that..."
Come on, the reporter was asking more about birth control than viagra. Shame on CNN for taking the story out of context.
independentliving 3 years ago
Embarrassing, just purely, absolutely embarrassing. The more he campaigns, the more he's starting to turn into another Bush plant.
He's a vet and a POW that's all good and all, but the guy can't even do the job he's elected to do as a senator (missing over 60% of votes on key issues), how can anyone expect him to do the hardest job in the world as a president? Anyone with an ounce of IQ can see through that.

You want to talk about ethics, go look up the Keating 5. McCain also carried on a relationship for 8 years with a female lobbyist. His campaign is filled with bit time lobbyists who lobby for despots and dictators.
leeburl 3 years ago

Jitgos 3 years ago 2
Folks this all part of his act. He looks puzzled and appears to be candid by saying he doesn't know. Of course he knows how he voted. He's just trying to duck the question.
He's done this before and the media lapdogs just...well....lap it up!
leeburl 3 years ago 4
Must have been a well thought out, heart-felt vote since he cannot recall it. The guy misses over 60% of the Senate votes you would think he could remember those he attends.

wrayonie 3 years ago 7

And that's a flat fact.
knobrocker 3 years ago 5
He's not going on Jeopardy!, so I fail to see why the guy must be quick-witted. Maybe Obama's brain is "sharper", but I don't like his thought processes, reasoning skills or his positions on the issues.
bruthav 3 years ago
It isn't about being quick-witted. It is about overall mental acuity. As a psychotherapist, I know precisely what happens to the brain as it ages. I also know that the most gravely important job in the world requires ALL of one's marbles. I have no quibble with you sincerely disagreeing with Obama's positions. But from my anecdotal clinical observations, his thought process and reasoning skills are nothing short of brilliant.
knobrocker 3 years ago
Do you think Alzheimer is on the table? I sincerely hope not, but some of his recent behavior, especially this week has been cause for concern...

He's a glorified Jesse Jackson.
bruthav 3 years ago
bruthav - We're electing the leader of the free world, not staff members to keep that leader apprised of situations. The question was simple and he dodged it. And is Obama a glorified Jesse Jackson because of his reasoning skills or something else?

Exactly -- he "dodged it". That does not mean that he was incapable of answering it. Big difference.
BO is a glorified JJ because he talks a lot, but doesn't say anything (kind of like Oswald Bates of In Living Color).
BO's judgment is questionable (Rev. Wright, Rezko, Bill Ayers, et al), and that is the more germane issue -- not McCain's improvisation skills.
And BTW, I am not a huge McCain supporter. He's just the lesser of two bad candidates.
bruthav 3 years ago
It was a simple moral question that his campaign rep answered with ease. A "dodge" shows a lack of principle and character for the sake of political expediency.
bruthav - Your comparison of Obama is not an attack on how he communicates but an inappropriate and racially charged assault. You realize you are comparing a Mad TV caricature of black convict to the most eloquent, inspiring speaker in our political era. Obama is far more substantive than McCain, who can only spew GOP talking points.

You politically correct folks see something bad or "inappropriate" in everything. Give it a rest for cry eye.
Ted Bundy was eloquent too. What the hell does eloquence have to do with anything? And inspiring? Hitler was "inspiring". Res ipsa loquitur.
And the show was In Living Color, NOT Mad TV.
bruthav 3 years ago
Good God Almighty, bruthav. To compare Obama to Ted Bundy and Hitler. Your post appears desperate and hysterical. First, read Obama's books before you say that he is only eloquent, but empty. You have not done your research. And to compare Obama to Hitler also compares his supporters to the followers of Hitler and I take umbrage to that. Shame on you. Res ipsa loquitur, indeed.
knobrocker 3 years ago
It has nothing to do with political correctness. If you want to use racist comparisons or compare Obama to Bundy or Hitler, go ahead. But don't whine like baby when you get called out on it.
leeburl 3 years ago
So it's OK when McCain dodges a question?
You want to talk about judgement?
McCain..
- Left his disabled first wife for Cindy.
- Took favors and contributions from Charles Keating and was reprimanded by the Senate Ethics Committee.
- Has Phil Gramm as his campaign co-chairman.
- Courts people like John Hagee.
- Has missed over 60% of the votes in the Senate.
Looks like you need to do your homework on McCain.

Yes, it's OK for McCain to dodge a question. Don't confuse dodging a reporter's question with dodging a question from a prosecutor while under oath (a la Bill Clinton).
Also, I did read up on The Keating 5 and found that after a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee criticized McCain (and the other four) the other four for "questionable conduct." After a lengthy investigation, this is all that they did.
bruthav 3 years ago
I see you don't won't touch any of my other points. It's just the tip of the iceberg. My point which you miss, is that you're willing to give McCain a pass on any moral or character flaw. Why choose the lesser of two evils, if that's how you really feel.
Go vote for Bob Barr, at least he's a true conservative.
leeburl 3 years ago
Furthemore, Robert S. Bennett (yes, the same man that defended Bill Clinton), whom McCain had hired to represent him in this matter, defended McCain's character and was one of many people who criticized the piece. Bennett, who was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal that The Times revisited in the article, said that he fully investigated McCain back then and suggested to the Senate Ethics Committee not to pursue charges against McCain because of "no evidence against him."
bruthav 3 years ago
Of course he said that you idiot. Hes paid to defend him and would likely say that.

Platitudes.
bruthav 3 years ago
Wow congratulations on repeating all the right wing talking points.
If you honestly feel that McCain is the lesser of two evil based on those 5 talking points then maybe you should stay home on election day.
pelayostyle 3 years ago 2
