Wow, I remember seeing Red Flag in concert when I was in college at a club called 17th street in Huntsville Texas back in the Spring of 1989. After their gig the brothers got out on the dance floor with us... Good times!!!
band looks like a depeche mode rip off but great song used to hear it in all the new wave/goth clubs, strobe lights, cloves, trech coats and the smell of hairspary . and dont forget the gloves with the cut off fingers. hey babe who do you listen to?
I saw this group at a joint called Post Nuclear in Laguna Beach, Ca. They were pretty freaking good and the club was awesome. Is no longer there but it brings memories
This song reminds me of the night club scene in Houston in the late 80s. We'd stay out all night getting lost in a world of goth, underground, and Nu Beat Records which stayed open all night back then!
you should hear the version of DJ Jon Tupaz of the Philippines, he would scratch (Using Vinyl, two turntables and a Mixer) along with the lyrics of this song using the vinyl of American soviets CCCP.
This song has 93Q and Club 6400 in Houston written all over it. Thanks for the upload. I didn't go to college in Houston, but I got as close as I could in College Station. Gig 'em.
OMG! Thank u who ever found this video and put it on the Tube!! ADORE THE NEW WAVE/ELECOTRONIC-POP/UNDERSGROUND/PROGRESSIVE MUSIC OF THE 80'S. I wish there was more music like this now adays that the music sucks! Was just a kid but appreciated this decade!!
Thanks 4 da info mate. I don't hear much music of today. i just dont like it! im stuck in da 80's. im a young laddie with an 80's heart n soul. where r they from, england?
I just got an email back from Chris about a week ago. His new music is very dark, gothic industrial. Check him out at his myspace page. His brother was killed in a car crash many years ago. I got to party with them for one night and had an awesome time.
Chris says that this album was produced on an Atari 1040 ST Computer.
Great song, in 88 a bought a cassette from Red Flag which featured this song and pieces of a broken heart. Very underated songs, but of course WLIR played them. thanx for the upload
AWESOME! I love this song and haven't heard it in at least 18 years. I saw these guys live in Palo Alto a long time ago and it was a great show. Brings back fond memories. Thank you for posting.
That's interesting. Where I lived, we called bands like Red Flag, Depeche Mode, OMD "progressive" music. Now it has so many names. Love the song though.
Великолепная группа из Америки - Red Flag -- это родные братья Крис и Марк Рейнольдсы. Впервые на музыкальной сцене они появились с песнями "Broken Heart" и "Russian Radio" в 1988 году.
I remember dancing to this song on the club floor (in Philly era 1990). Great times and even better memories. This was one of my favorites, and one of the first 12" vinyls I bought to start my collection.
God, why don't they make music like this anymore??!!
(continued) - I laugh every time I read people rip on disco, new wave, techno, or whatever name applies to their time period (Purdue - '85) Each morphed into the next. DM even stated in their book that Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" synthesizer work contributed to their early work. I wasn't crazy about all disco, but the synth work was great. Punk and New Wave were next - then evolved into techno, etc. Disco and Kraftwerk started all this - the names we give it really don't matter.
It still amazes my wife and how much better (and "fun") '80's music was compared to the crap from the mid to late '90's on (there are obviously a few exceptions). DM, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Red Flag, Camouflage, Devo, New Order, Cause & Effect, Ultravox (Ure), Talk Talk, A-Ha, and many others. Music isn't fun any more....
4 Strings was good fun (that is, until she left). If I hear one more ****ing rock song start with a slow guitar solo...everything sounds the same....oh well...
Well put it this way, those days and music set new ground for the new stuff like progressive house, trance and other electronic music we have now...not techno...
I remember when Red Flag came to my town-Houston, Tx-and they said that they thought that downtown was really dark and spooky at night. I always thought that was kind of neat.
This is seriously kick ass. Man, this was back in the day when the jams wanted to make you dance and go out and buy the record. The music of today is a poor excuse. I mean, I could go and think up a song right now and it would be better than the number one song of today. Or just kick my dog, that would song better than the rap joke you hear today.

"Inspired by Depeche Mode?!?" I always hated this band, and how they completely copied DM. What they were TRYING to do was get money from idiots who were trying to jump on the DM bandwagon and inadvertently buy THEIR album.
I smelled a rat a mile away the first time I saw this in 1988. DM should have sued them!
Even the lyrics: "...now that we've learned to deceive you..."
