@ArtichautHero I'd give it a shot, its actually a good series plot and story wise. Just got the short end of the stick due to it being limited to 39 episodes for various reasons. People who say it sucked are most likely people who have never even watched it just cause they've only watched Gundam Wing on Toonami and think that's the end all of Gundam. The only Gundam series I've ever disliked was Seed Destiny, and even then I'd say watch it just to experience how not to do a Gundam series.

Gundam X's major flaw is its long load time & that it needs to be stationary to fire, so it would never get the chance to fire. Melee is no different than zero's, heck zero's melee use could make it better. "sabre power" makes little difference in a one on one, as you seen in epyon vs zero. Zero's buster rifle has 6 (full power) shots that it can directly charge when its stored in its shield.

If that doesn't work he can just dodge the three shots that Zero can fire before it begins to collapse in on itself, and once again tell the future to go fuck itself...
From what I've seen the double x relies on a solar power station to use its cannons so if its taken out then how will the double x possibly survive when going up zeros buster rifle? Hmm? How will the mighty double x survive? Which prove that it is weak cause it relies on a station when zero doesn't. Don't believe me look it up.

@left4deadian No, not really. The Double X Cannons and the Twin Buster Rifles are almost on par. The difference being Hiro can shoot whenever he likes, but not as much as he likes. While Garriod can shoot as much as he likes but not whenever he likes. HOWEVER, either weapon put the 00's TransAmRaiserSword to shame.
LOL all these cannons are dwarfed by Gundam FAZZ's Hyper Mega Cannon, which can take out a whole colony in one shot. Plus it's got tons of heavy armor, a dizzying number of missiles, and more firepower than a whole army of grunt suits. And it's a canon UC design on top of all that. (Gundam Sentinel)

@left4deadian Not really, it's mounted on the arm which allows one to fire in a different direction from another, it DOESN'T require the moon in fact there's never any proof that the twin buster rifle had to reload like it's predecessor, the beam is just as big as DX's, and is faster since it doesn't have to wait for a microwave beam to hit it. The only area DX has the edge is in melee, and it has a considerable advantage.
@ellnats It's kinda funny, this show is in some ways a WHAT IF for the UC era, granted they changed quite a bit. Think of these newtypes as similar but different to the ones in UC and think of this show of how things COULD have turned out.

@HiroUey I don't like seed because it was a blatant (but bad) rip off of Gundam 0079. And the characters were incredibly annoying. I was so happy I almost cried when that red haired girl (Fa I think) died.

I really liked Gundam X a whole lot more than Wing or Seed. But most of all the Frost brothers are my favorite villains. They possess this kind of deep and dark mysterious type of persona and the bond they share is admirable. Okay I totally sound like a fangirl. But truly I prefer these two over another gundam guys.

from the Japanese Wikipedia, the reason behind it's shortened beside changing time slot, is the Action figure stuff. Gundam is always was a commercial thing. when GX Aired, people was still buy Gundam W figures that overshadows GX's.

This series was awesome. It had its own unique storyline. The only thing in my opinion that really kept it down was that people consider it a Gundam Wing knockoff.
In my opinion, next to Turn-A, this is probably the most underrated gundam series ever. Sure, the show was severely shortened to only 39 episodes, and not too many people watched it as much as the other gundam series, But I still think it's great! Don't let the short episode count and the bad rumors fool you, this is a quality series!

@loneotaku yeah this was the creators depression era. he took a break after this series and came back to do turn A gundam with syd mead designs. I think this show is probably the most depressing gundam series. where as Turn A kind of had a depressing theme as well and focused on the effects of such powerful tech and war. but over all it had a happy ending

I don't know why some people here are complaining for the lack or sword battles as a finale. There are other Gundam final battles that didn't end with beam sabers. Like the original, Zeta, G Gundam, and the 08th MS Team.
I like this ending, the bad guys almost won but then at the last moment the only thing standing between them and victory was the Gundam Double X. Of course in true anime fashion, the protagonist ended up sacrificing himself in kamikaze attack to save the rest of humanity.
Agreed. X has what Wing, Seed, Destiny, and 00 do not: Characters who act like 3-Dimensional human beings who are very down to Earth, and although the pacing of the plot was sometimes uneven, it was cohesive. Of all the Alternate Universe serials, this is probably the closest to the Universal Century.
I always thought a majority of the side characters were down to earth. Never cared for the plethora of pretty boys that plagued it though.. I blame Wing for starting that little annoyance >_>;

@left4deadian Not really, it's mounted on the arm which allows one to fire in a different direction from another, it DOESN'T require the moon in fact there's never any proof that the twin buster rifle had to reload like it's predecessor, the beam is just as big as DX's, and is faster since it doesn't have to wait for a microwave beam to hit it. The only area DX has the edge is in melee, and it has a considerable advantage.

I really liked Gundam X a whole lot more than Wing or Seed. But most of all the Frost brothers are my favorite villains. They possess this kind of deep and dark mysterious type of persona and the bond they share is admirable. Okay I totally sound like a fangirl. But truly I prefer these two over another gundam guys.

Kidou Butouden G Gundam
Shin Kidou Senki Gundam W
After War Gundam X
"Turn A" Gundam
Interesting details: neither of the Second Generation shows are called "Kidou Senshi Gundam something" and they all share another trait: The Gundams' names are only the word Gundam and a single extra letter.

from the Japanese Wikipedia, the reason behind it's shortened beside changing time slot, is the Action figure stuff. Gundam is always was a commercial thing. when GX Aired, people was still buy Gundam W figures that overshadows GX's.
bandai saw that is lose. so she told to end the series quickly.

In my opinion, next to Turn-A, this is probably the most underrated gundam series ever. Sure, the show was severely shortened to only 39 episodes, and not too many people watched it as much as the other gundam series, But I still think it's great! Don't let the short episode count and the bad rumors fool you, this is a quality series!

I think this show is probably the most depressing gundam series. where as Turn A kind of had a depressing theme as well and focused on the effects of such powerful tech and war. but over all it had a happy ending

I don't know why some people here are complaining for the lack or sword battles as a finale. There are other Gundam final battles that didn't end with beam sabers. Like the original, Zeta, G Gundam, and the 08th MS Team.

I like this ending, the bad guys almost won but then at the last moment the only thing standing between them and victory was the Gundam Double X. Of course in true anime fashion, the protagonist ended up sacrificing himself in kamikaze attack to save the rest of humanity.

Agreed. X has what Wing, Seed, Destiny, and 00 do not: Characters who act like 3-Dimensional human beings who are very down to Earth, and although the pacing of the plot was sometimes uneven, it was cohesive. Of all the Alternate Universe serials, this is probably the closest to the Universal Century.
