The Real Fix for the Black Screen of Death (for Vista)

NOTE : If you dont have an antivirus, to let you know, the virus is located in System32, somewhere at the end of the list. Find the corupt file and delete it and then the windows explorer should be working fine. This virus disables windows explorer, task manager and the registry. You will need to enable the last two, but thats no really big deal, just google it, find the solution and you're done.

I think I have a better solution to this. If this video isnt good enough for you just try this

1.do whatever this video tells you until 0:30

2.now, in the window that appears, clear the adress bar on the top left and type "explorer.exe" and press enter

3.now you should have your windows explorer right back on, but it will only last about 5 minutes, cuz the virus will turn it off again

4.run your antivirus, find the virus and remove it !!!

Tried every fix..Had to give up in the end and re-install Windows 7..

Take the option to leave the filesystem 'as is' and do not format the drive.

When Windows installs it automatically copies all of your user data, program files and old Windows directory into a folder called Windows.old

Navigate to c:\windows.old\users\[username­] and copy all of your files back into the c:\users\[username].

You will still have to re-install all your software but you can be back up and running in a few hours.

Safe mode with command prompt doesn't work either - just the same

Can't run SFC because a fix is pending, and never changes from that state no matter how many reboots..

Instead of doing the sticky keys cant u just press Ctrl+alt+del then go to task manager, then in the search bar put msconfig. Much easier

This was kind if the cause of my black screen. I was tryna reboot my laptop by typing msconfig but I clicked the 2 boxes on the bottom instead of unclicking them. So when I restarted my laptop once it turned back on the whole screen was black till now. I'm stuck with my itouch till I figure out a way to fix my laptop. Blah, no dice if you have Ease of Access turned off. Can you turn it on by changing a system file? I'm running Ubuntu right now and I have access to my files...

Oh, and just to clarify, the KSOD doesn't always come from viruses. Scanned with Malwarebytes and AVG a few days before I got it and I was clean. It sometimes comes from
