No band is worth being in if you're being beaten to death in order to gain ranking. Hazing is right up there with the slavery mentality of old massa whipping the slaves into submission. Then lose respect for about 80% of the other HBCU bands too. FAMU isn't the first band to have this problem. Actually there was a similar incident two years ago at another HBCU and the band Denied it tooth and nail, and still do. At least FAMU somewhat fessed up to it and are trying to get rid of hazing.

@SHINE912: Women are allowed to march in any and every section of the band, including drum majors, if they are able to MAKE it. The sectional fraternity of the White Whales to date, is just that...a fraternity. Therefore, the fraternity is not a direct representation of the 100 as a band unit, rather a seperate, fraternal bond between the male sousaphone players. Hope that clarifies it some.

If u would like to knw the history, check out this band, along w/Grambling State Univesity (first black band to perform at the Superbowl). FAMU (first black band to make a major commercial; Welch's Grape Juice 70's). God Bless these two school's that they both continue their history of beautiful musicianship and arts!
