ive played all the operation flashpoint games since the 1st one came out. dragon rising is a pretty good game, but a bit clunky.

while the gameplay on red river is better, im afraid the politics of the game are disgusting. but then i personally think the whole war on terror is a load of asset-grabbing bullshit.

Yea its real but in dragon rising to pull out a medpack or field dressing took like 6 seconds to get out and with the weapons and evertime you get shot you need to heal yourself and you go into combat with a 4 man team agianhst 50 guys with no military assistance.

This game only picks up and gets any good half-way through the game when the Chinese start attacking.  It sucks that you have to trudge through this to get to it.

Though I like Dragon Rising more, this game is definatey a finished product unlike its predecessor. Its too bad the studio closed; we'll probablly not see a nice well done sequel for a while.

The AI these days are pretty dumb, not in all games but there is no excuse for the terrible AI on an xbox 360..

@RepaleoN I didn't know if you know this, but even trained soldiers are quite expendable and are VERY dumb in real life. Realistic AI soldiers are the ones that never get out of their hiding spots and are so fucked up by the intensity of a fight, they can't really think straight, like these guys. Any game where they can toss back grenades, flank, and jump out of the way of a grenade's explosion are just Hollywood action henchmen.

There are glitches, but the least complex is most realistic.

@hello34726 Try looking at ArmA 2, its an extremely similar game (In mine, and many other people's opinion better) with even bigger environments. There is a mission editor so you can create your own missions, and make "free roam" mission if you wish (Many singleplayer missions just turn you loose in the country and say complete the objects as well) and if you get Operation Arrowhead expansion (or buy Combined Ops with Regular and Operration Arrowhead together) you can iraq/desert area like this

what a crappy choice of weapon attachments! you should know the m16 is better for long range. and umm...how did you manage to nearly lose your entire fireteam in the first firefight, when not even on hardcore?? hardcore is the way to play this game. OPF games can be so damn realistic. (for a video games of course)...i would recommend this game to anyone who wants to get away from the arcade styles of COD and BF. although im a big fan of all. game on and just have fun with it:)

Of course I know M16 is better for long range engagements and a silencer shouldn't be used unless you're in close-quarter combat. I didn't even know to choose attachments when I recorded this.

@PlayFair1996 BF3 isn't out yet, so I can't tell you how long the missions are, but based on my BC2 experience, they're 15-30 minutes long. In OF:RR, missions last up to 60 minutes or even more, depending on how you play. Graphics-wise, BF3 is better. Overall, I would definitely suggest you to pick BF3. It's longer-lasting, more fun, better looking, with an amazing multiplayer experience.

For me DR was the start of the love for realistic wargames and RR destroyd OFP.

Highly scripted missions, poor mission design, no freeroaming aspect, no multiplayer, no map editor, no SDK, no drivable tanks/APC, or pilotable helicopters, the AI is utterly retarded and the game is filled with COD-like features such as sticky aim and perks.

This whole game isn't just ugly as fuck.. It's shit in forms of gameplay and it fails to be Operation Flashpoint.

Yeah, this game looks like shit and plays like shit compared to BF or COD.

The sad thing is that Operation Flashpoint is SUPPOSED to be a tactical combat simulation, meaning, recreation of very realistic infantry combat, tank combat, helicopter combat, airplane combat etc. Red River doesn't even have a map editor, no MP, and not even multiplayer or map editor.

Basicly, red river tries to be both cod and like the orginal Operation flashpoint but it fails at both.

@patrolmostwanted I can't really say much about Dragon Rising because I haven't played it for more than a few hours, but it is better polished. I don't know anything about the console version (I was playing on PC), but you could give it a try. It's still OF, it doesn't feel like Arma, though. The feeling is similar to Dragon Rising, just improved.

I dont know much about weapons nor cod (I dont play it) but I know special mission or stealth mission would requre such equipments. Again youre right whe n you said reduces muzzle /flash but during day its useless.
