@bevhilhottie I know tonnes of people that say 7-4-7 the only people i've heard say 7-47 is the person talking in the Air Crash Investigation episode.
well ur not gonna find qantas airlines in the mil of N.E. america like u would in australia. and who cares if their long, most airplanes take time taxiing to runways, and u could finish this video twice b4 takeoff at some airports.
on a scale of 1-5 5 being the best, this is worth a 4, just because they could have clarified/specified a lil more, and because this is probably one of the best safety videos out there compared to the ones used by delta, and AA. BA is about a 3/5
Why would the safety video mention Economy seats to stow personal screens? I thought United wasn't going to add PTVs to Economy/Economy Plus on 747-400s
I agree. Let me clarify though, I'm just going on speculation of what I have experienced on other aircraft, I haven't been on the IPTE 747 yet. There may not be PTVs of any kind in Y/Y+. The 767 IPTE has PTVs for Y class, yet F/As still have to do a live demo for the first 2 rows of Y class. Why not put a monitor on the bulkhead like the 777 XA? Anyway, it is what it is...
UA needs to consult a grammar teacher before they make another safety video. Your on the upper deck not in it. Its slide rafts may be detached from the aircraft and used for flotation.
I see what you mean. I think this video was made in a hurry if you will, as it only has english subtitles. However, in regards to the upper deck slide/rafts - they are not to be used in a water landing - but may be used as slides in a land evacuation.
Must admit I've never had to wear a shoulder belt on any aircraft larger than a Cessna Caravan (and even then it was optional). I'll have to try that new int'l United First some time.
Safety is the most important. The uniform does add to the beauty of the airline but doesnt really distract from it if it doesn't look like everyone elses:)
The original videos have been around for several years now - this one in particular was produced within the last year with in introduction of the new IPTE aircraft.
New FAA regulations require all passenger seats to survive a 16G impact. Most importantly is the need to protect people's heads. In economy and business class, the seat in front is able to provide this protection by having the seat in front be soft to absorb the head strike. For First Class though the seat is at an unusual angle. Other airlines use air bags instead of shoulder straps (Virgin, Cathay, Air Canada, Air New Zealand)
@electrogeek77 the shoulder straps are only for the passengers to feel more safe. The main reason will probbably be for turbulence but all in all, they dont make much difference.
I love travel on the new United-Continental Airlines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

horrible video. People, graphics, and especially the music do not fit together at all. the voice of the first woman is so annoying!

Do United Flight Attendants do the demo manually along with the video on United?
also, in my opinion, this is a TERRIBLE safety video. the music doesn't suit, and it's too long and isn't to the point.
I believe Qantas has the best safety vid, firm and to the point. Just like it's Flight Attendants

yea they do! I will have to look at Qantas. haha. Yea the old video was a lot better

Why? If the forward row of seats of Y and Y+ have ptvs, why don't they install the ptvs for the other seats?

The music, especially the opening and closing pieces, is the theme from "Rhapsody in Blue" - United's theme song.

@StarJuJu1 It's because the sit pitch is so high that there is no seat in directly in front of them to brace against.
