I'm looking to get a couple of geophagus. Can you tell me how big they get? I know there's a few differant species. What kind stays up to 6inches or smaller? I have a 46g bowtank
Geophagus Steindachneri only get about 6" and are a good beginner Geo...otherwise Geophagus Iporangensis only get up to 7" for the males, but they will be harder to find
If I ever get back into it, I'm getting some of those earth-eaters for sure! Their beautiful, and incredibly hardy, almost nothing seems to kill them. You don't have to watch Ph, Temp, ect... I got one still living in a neglected tank thats over 10 yrs old.

the perfect aquarium fish. Peaceful, beautiful, hardy and rewarding. They should be much easier to find, and more popular.
