Gecoboards: Longboarding in Hawaii

I live in Hawaii and I just got stopped by a cop informing me that it is illegal in any construable circumstance to skate on a road in Hawaii. Is this the truth? was my entire life just ruined, or was he just confused?

Looks awesome! Hawaii has got to be one of the best places to live you love to longboard. I lived there for 2 years. Unfortunately, I was not into longboarding then. I wish I had that to do over again.
