  • you're so good i think you have a huge potential.. keep practicing!! how old are you??

  • Marry me?

  • dont apolagize for your mistakes, learn from them

  • I think she is sitting too far away from the piano, anyone notice that?

    Minimum for performance:

    1) Getting all the notes and tempo right.

    2) Experess the piece as well as you can

    3) Try not to make a mistake.

  • practisepractisepractisepractisepractise practise SLOWLY!

  • no offense, i know this is a hard music, but it isn't an excuse.... u should never go on stage unless ur 100% good .... cuz on stage u cant perform 100% well so at least 97 or 98%... because you are probably nervous... good job though still

  • Not many people have the guys to play this song in front of a large audience. I sure as hell wouldn't until I knew I had it mastered...which won't be for while lol.

  • It's really easy for someone to lay back and say you made mistakes. But I think people don't understand how tremendously hard playing this piece is. So just keep it up and keep practicing. You did great :) God bless you.

  • The song is very hard, I learned moonlight mvt 1, and I can't even do the first second of moonlight mvt 3.

You're on your way to play perfectly a wonderful piece though =).

  • Upppsss!!! A lot of mistakes, but, the way is, You can play it and I can't, jejeje, whatever... Bravo compadrita!!!!

  • many false notes...

  • Of course she's a great pianist at such a young age, SHE'S ASIAN! IT HAS NO MERIT! LOL

Just kidding, it's amazing... AND NO SHEET MUSIC, you have to be a genius to remember all that...

  • Remember taht is very easier, that is hard is play the song!

  • @PollockQT you don't have to be a genius, i tjink that is esier because you can remember it if you practice to much.

And with the sheet music you have to put attention to two things. so ... what it is more dificult, for me is having the partitures.

  • stop whipping your children

  • Sigh, another pianist that plays just for speed and with no personal emotion behind it.

  • I want you to be 9 years old and try playing the third movement... better yet try playing the first movement... or the fur elise... or chopsticks... Don't comment if you don't understand the magnitude of her performance; she's making mistakes sure... but she's a 9 or 10 year old or something.

  • I think that axelbrz is right

that's a nice job, but relax don't let the stress dominate you. I say that but i'm not able to do this yet; i'm trying to find the score of this sonata but i aven't found it yet.

sorry, I know that i have to ameliorate my english, but i hope that you understand the message. :D

  • This is amazing for her age. Go away, haters.

  • Hey, you are good! But I think you should concentrate in play it as well as you can first, don't show you up to you are ready.. That's a beautiful song and you play it very well.. but you have to be patience.. try it slower first, feel it, in your heart, feel the music sound into your ears..

    Excelent job! And continue practicing!

    Cheers

  • hater

  • She should be playing this song for her own personal study, NOT performance. I don't wanna cut her up, she's good, but ouch!

  • Hater

  • i don't hate it, if i could play the song half as good i'd be very proud of my self. If i had no professional version of the song i'd prob listen to this one. I just wouldn't have the balls to perform it at that skill level...but maybe im just a perfectionist.

  • one thing to note, NEVER REPEAT THAT PORTION YOU PLAYED WRONGLY AGAIN during a concert. The audience doesn't know it, because by correcting, you're hinting to the audience that yo don't know your piece well enough, so remember, performance etiquette!

  • @korfreak

I would do that at my first recital, lol. my fingers kept fumbling because i was so nervous. I ended up pausing in the middle of the song, lol!

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Marvelous! Please learn from your mistakes just like all the great virtuosi do. I believe your potential is unlimited. How I envy you that you're so talented !

  • WONDERFUL!!!

  • hi, erm apart from ur mistakes, theres something important. pls read ur score again. i think u got some parts wrong not by mistakes but by mis-reading the score.

  • I think this song takes years to master its true meaning.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think it takes years to master this song. It takes many many years on piano to master enough technique, sound, touch and ability before even attempting a piece like this.

It is better to play a more easy piece and play it beautifully then play a too difficult piece and play it bad. She is not ready for this piece.

  • Hater

  • itz okay !

i do also hav mistakes 4 the 3rd mvt.

but after 1 week .... got no prob.

  • Good job. I've been looking for the sheet music for this. I want it for free

  • can you play moon light sonata 3rd movement?

  • yeah really....

  • shes a bit too nervous

  • I mean, of course it's amazing that someone of her age can play it so good in such a speed - but the performance itsself without including the player is not very good. I don't want to blame you for anything, it's just my opinion

  • its not even a proper piano chair...

    but good playing!

  • Chill out, it's not bad

  • If you didn't know who plays it , and you heard playing this piece like that.. would you say its great? I'd say it is "ok" it's not amazing..We cannot judgde somebody softier because of his age.. a piece is played either good or bad : ) .. I just agree that this piece isn't ready to put it on youtube and to expect of not being criticized.

  • well, it could be amazing since someone is playing that in that age lol..

  • lets see you play this song any better

  • Dang! How long did it take you to learn to play this?

    Bravo!

  • dam!! she had to be asian

  • racist!

  • Ok, i know its a hard peice and she's very young, but the fact of the matter is it isn't good. That doesn't mean I'm not impressed with her progress or anything, but its not ready to be put on youtube. I learned how to play this song without every taking piano lessons and I know its difficulty, but I don't play it with 100% accuracy and because of that i'd never put it on youtube. simple- she's a good player who can't play the thrid movement. good player- bad playing. peace***

  • don't say that! Plus, there isn't smthing that can be put on youtube and somthing that can't! youtube is for everyone! you don have to be a professional pianist to upload a video of your playing!

  • she never said this was perfect asshole...read the info

  • That's bullshit.

Music is an expression of your soul. You don't 'mature' into being able to play piano. She did fucking amazing. Period. Her age is completely irrelevant to the music.

  • really good

  • There IS feeling in there.

And energy. Stuff accuracy, that was exciting :p

  • :\ No offence but you should practice ur acuracy ALOT!

  • :\ no offence but this girl dosnt look under the age of 11 take note it takes hard long dedicated practice to play the thrid movement seeing her make this whole song throgh without breaks to find keys or get back on track is atonshing

make sure when u critize things u do it in a poilite mannr instead of just attacking it beacuse i doubt u could play this

  • I think that even though you were able to play the whole movement you were too tense and it's obviously hard to play it perfect but there were alot of mistakes. This is a piece that you should play after you have had years of experience...something you should build up to by creating the right foundation

  • LOL 1st Year pianist with this piece? WTF are you man, a prodigy?

    or a liar...

I don't think a first year can even read the music properly.

  • um. yeah right man. i've learned piano for 7 EFFING years. this song is still pretty tough for me. i make like 50 gabillion mistakes still. so NO. it's an incredibly tough song to play well. i'd say it takes like 3 years to master.

  • I've got another tip to add once you master the arpeggios, make the base staccatto, as marked, but what I found makes it sound gorgeous is playing the arpeggios leaning to the legato side, with a nice soft touch.

  • You have a lot of mistakes, but also it's a good video.

  • Good video quality. What is important is that you kept going even after making a few mistakes that caused almost an abrupt stop, all the way to the last note, very good job. (I like the Japanese tags, was a nice touch)

  • Thanks for your(also to hellomates639, ChoTakahashi,hart063)comments. I became nervous from the beginning. Of course, the main reason for mistakes was insufficient exercise. To upload a better one, I must spend more time with my piano.

  • ^^ take your time, the more quality the better

  • Yes, they were very good.

I think she listened to Alfred Brendel's version, as the parts that were played right sound just like his. And that also goes to show how distinctive Steinways are. If thats not a Steinway, I'd destroy it for patent infringment.

  • This is my philosophy- Don't play it unless you can play it nearly perfect. Thats why I've not even attempted to really learn the entire thing of this piece. Just the first couple of lines.

Then again the desire to play this in front of an audience is kind of overwhelming, its going to be hard to put this one off.

Other than the mistakes, I think your dynamics are excellent. If you could play this perfectly, it would be perfect. Nice piano, I think thats what it is...

  • There is no genius here. A bit more time, a bit more effort, a bit more thought.

A lot more heart, that all makes difference.

If Bach took 20 years of his time to complete his first symphony, why can't we?

Not to mention Beethoven, which I believe you know better than me. Correct me if, I'm wrong.

  • As I come to this one again, I realize the sound of it isn't as clear as my first opinion.

I also yesterday played in a recital, and had a couple people who I was not related to with tears in their eyes. I'm only 15. Started lessons last April.

The parts I can play of this piece sound nicer than this playing of it, I've only been working on it for about a month.

The opening arpeggios in this video are sloppy. An easy way to do them is to pronate the wrists.

  • so your saying youve been playing for less than a year? and your playing this. Either your a musical genious or a fraud...no offense.

  • Well, I feel much obliged to hear that. I also want to tell you that this piece has a very convoluted sound to it, making it sound harder than it his, but it is still quite difficult.

  • I know I can play it but its just that less than a year is pretty quick to be playing anything near to this. Its just the way you use musical terms...almost too well for only been at this for a year.

  • I didn't really know I had all that great of a musical vocabulary, but I do know that I have a natural ability to pick up and use words.

After saying that, now I feel afraid to screw up somewhere... lol...

  • its not that you have a great musical vocabulary just a little bit advanced for 1 year. sigh..

  • I'm not the best techincally still. I have quite a ways to go. There are much harder things than this.

I can learn up to a professional level, I'm sure, thankfully, but I do need to work harder than I do, with all around dynamics, rather than taking the time to learn this.

I'm hoping that my interpretation skills are good. I've been told its very good, apparently, I brought tears to the eyes of a couple strangers at my most recent recital with the second movement of the pathetique.

  • I also want to add that the feeling after I did that was incredible.

It was this absolute feeling of joy that I was able to convey such a well done interpretation after a lot of thought and hard work.

I was already confident enough before that to not feel that nervous, it was really not too much larger thana living room audience- about 30 people. Next one will be bigger.

Next piece I play is the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata, after that, Schuberts "Four Impromptus" Op. 90 No. 3

  • To hear the Schubert piece, look up "Brendel" and "Schubert". It should be the first result.

Its "More Brendel: Schubert Op. 90/3".

If you've not heard it, you'll like it. If the second movement of the Pathetique brought tears, this one will probably do the same. The recording on here brought tears to my eyes...

  • You can easily be playing this piece in less than a year,I'm doing it too.You just have to practice like nuts, which is exactly what I've been doing.Having coordination and improving it to hit notes does not make you a musical genius.

You will not reach concert-pianist-level interpretations in your first year of playing, no doubt - that might take a lifetime for some. But to play this piece at a good fast speed with all the proper notes? VERY POSSIBLE for a 1st year, I'm doing it now!

  • yeah i gues so...

  • Only show perfect performance in public is very great! To me, it's very difficult. I listened to Brendel, Kempff's and Giles's version. Especially, I listened to Giles's CD heavily before this playing. They are all Great pianists, and I cann't reach 1% of them.

  • I can make it easier for you. Pronate your wrists on those arpeggios. It makes your hand like a wheel, it rolls up them with grace, and control.

I learned it a lot faster that way and found it even easier than the Pathetique tremolo.

I just might get to see Brendel in concert... I might not get sleep tonight over this, because he is playing the very piece in this video...

Its like a sign. Either way, I learn something, and I get to meet him in the afterlife anyways. lol.

  • Your advice is very good to me. Thank you very much!

  • @hellomate639 your philosophy is pathetic and something you should keep to yourself

  • Excellent performance

  • now, I'm 19, this video was recorded 2 years ago(at 17).

  • Thank you(also to Javy7oo, SAY393939)! It's a big pleasure to get your praiseful words. now, I'm busy for my term exam(math, phisics, etc). I wish i can get more time for my piano and upload one with few mistakes^^.

  • nice :D how old are you? dont worry about the mistakes, with the time u r gonna improve :D
