  • united is well better and should have one tht game easilly

  • Amazing Goal !!!!!!!

  • Get it up yae

  • shed rule ya bass

  • brasil done it again in south africa remember

  • thts a hard aine if am goin we meh heed then brazil or if em goin we meh heart then utd i was there wtf is mark kerr thinkin we a couple o seconds left ti pass it bk ti boyd grrrr

  • Haha thats quality

  • Clearly Uniteds goal is much better than that other teams.

  • altolsta, who's that song by. Pretty good, c'mon the arabs. FTD's

  • Mongol.

  • carlos alberta had a straight shot at goal were as de vries had to beat broadfoot and then shoot...so ours is technically better no haha.....mon the terrors!!!

  • Thats actually scary how alike those goals are.

P.s. United were cheated that day.

  • ha ha. Great video. United deserved to win that game.

  • all hail united

  • Whats the song called? I stick this on just to listen to the music now.

    "Oh Craig Levein is tangerine...

  • Thats an above average goal but not the greatest ive seen by miles.

  • Superb video. United's goal is of course superior.

Not sure the Italy defence really is better than the Rangers one, Broadfoot would have walked into that team.

  • omg everyones saying brazils was better because italy were better than rangers.. but brazil are better than united

  • havers laddie

  • The eyes of the world are watching you..give it everything v celtic and give Scottish football back it's credibility.

  • Mark De Vries :D

  • Yeo! mark de v, mard de v!

  • MARK DE VRIES!!

    MARK DE VRIES!!

    nahnahnahnah nahnahnah

    MARK DE VRIES!!!

  • Great Video. Sorry Brasil edge it coz it a sunnier day and Brazil are tad better than Utd. Both great goals

  • I've scored better goals than the utd one. Seen plenty of better goals.

  • No offence, but The 1970 Italy team are much better than Rangers. Also Carlos Alberto ran onto it and struck it first time, de Vries stopped it before hitting it. Lastly, Brazil scored theirs in the world cup, not an SPL match.

  • you are a cock.

  • Sounds like someone's jealous. I can't help it if I have, or indeed am, a bigger penis than you.

Howabout you remember that next time you pick on someone? You might hurt their feelings.

  • It was not an SPL mathc. It was the CIS cup final. Just so you know. I was their.

  • Acctually it was the CIS cup final,I was there.(since when do SPL matches go to extra time)Utd deserved to win.

  • Brazil was better simply because it was executed against a much superior team...great vid however. Very clever!

  • Not much in it, I reckon Utd just shade it... Good video, well put together!

  • lol so alike, id say arabs is better

  • De Vries goal was great. Shame we lost but the game was a great advert for Scottish football.

  • Not so much a conspiracy, just the referees bottling it a bit. Great game though, maybe best of the season.

  • So irrelevant you needed your OF-biased referees to take us into a penalty shoot-out at Hampden. Noticed you had them today as well, no bookings despite baldo-Boyd and Whittaker diving around all over the place. :)

  • Well that's nice to know, but completely irrelevant.

  • Oh, so no goal is good if the team it is scored for went on to lose? Your logic makes my brain bleed.

  • It was not about who won - it was the goal only!

  • great vid. I still feel sick that we lost to the forces of darkness though! Shed Rule.

  • Very similar! Brazil goal was very late on when game was won. Dundee United late on when game was not won!

  • I think it's down to the clapometer: the yellow team gets what looks like polite applause for their goal whereas the tangerine team inspires a huge roar from the crowd, astonishment from the commentator and tears of joy from that rather emotional looking gentleman with the tangerine tie. No contest. Mind you, Hunt's sclaff off the post is up there...

  • Mark de Vries' goal is 10x the goal of Carlos Alberto! Kirk Broadfoot is MUCH better than any Italian defenders I can think of, so beating him must have been a far greater achievement...

  • I was with you until the second sentence. :-)

  • He's being sarcastic -_-'

  • imo the timing of the goal is irrelevant. if brazils goal has involved 1, maybe 2 defenders not trying then i might agree but they go through virtually the entire 11.

  • of course it's not irrelevant! Do you seriously think that they could have done that against Italy after 30 minutes? They would have been closed down, quickly. Look at the Italian players' body language. They're beaten, and they know it. They're hardly trying.

  • as i said imo (in my opinion) its irrelevant.

to beat a whole team with great movement and close control and then produce a fabulous finish - at a world cup final - it really makes the timing of the goal superficial.

  • Rodge, the timing of a goal is particularly relevant, simply because the attitude and organisation of a team is different when they have been beaten.

Do you think that Brazil would have been able to score that same goal if the score had been 1-1?

  • i understand what you are saying but your missing the point.

brazil have scored this goal. its fact. we have just watched it. to think up scenarios for it is dealing with fiction.

this goal is the best team goal ever scored irrespective of the time.

  • can i also add that juding by the time shown (41min) italy where only 1 goal away from making it 2-3.

  • In other words, they were 3-1 down with 4 minutes to go...

  • no. if you read the other replys from caledonian1976 you will see he is saying that the timing of the goal is a factor in deciding how good the goal was. the italians where 'dead and buried' he states. i dont agree that the timing was important but the italians where far from 'dead and buried' as they where 'only 1 goal away from making it 2-3'. A goal by the italians would have changed the last few minutes. 1-3 is never 100% safe.

  • Rodge

Feel free to download the match from Maxxed Football Forums. If you have watched the full 90 minutes, you will see that Italy give up the ghost as soon as it goes 3-1.

Or read Gianluca Vialli's book "The Italian Job" for an Italian perspective of a game that is most likely out of reach.

To suggest that Italy's resistance when 3-1 down with 3 minutes to go would be the same as it would be at 1-1 with 3 minutes to go is unrealistic.

  • who is suggesting italys resistance would be the same at 1-1? i am not.

simple fact is, and i dont want to be repeating myself or to patrionise you - this is a wonderful goal and because of such the timing is irrelevant. you cannot force scenarios into the discussion as these scenarios did not happen.

  • "you cannot force scenarios into the discussion as these scenarios did not happen"

Yes, you can. Put simply, Carlos Alberto's goal was allowed to happen. It would never have been scored if it had been 1-1 because 1/ Italy's defence would have closed down the Brazil players and 2/ Carlos Alberto wouldn't have taken such a shot - it didn't matter if he missed.

But I'm bored of this. Have the last say if you want.

  • also you say in a previous message that van bastens goal or massaros goal is the best cup final goal but if those goals had been scored near the end of a game already won, am i right in thinking you would not choose them?

Diego Maradonas goal against england in the world cup semis 86. would that go down in your estimation if scored late on in a game already won?

if your answer is yes to the above then i really cant say anymore.

  • Not van Basten's, because his goal wasn't dependent on the opposition.

Massaro's was more credible than Carlos Alberto's.

You don't understand the concept of important goals, or how important the quality (or lack thereof) is.

If a Diego Maradona ran through Swansea City's defence to score the goal he did, instead of against England's defence, then the quality of the goal would be devalued. Just as if he had scored that goal against a better defence it would have been increased.

  • lets just agree to disagree.

nice to have a discussion without it getting abusive which so often happens.

    peace my friend.

  • ok your dundee utd fan but im sorry but carlos alberto evertime. its the only goal ive ever seen that sends a chill down my spine.

plus mark de vries is another player who couldnt hack it in english football after starring in scotland.

  • Alberto had the ball played to him in loads of space - he just had to strike the ball low and firm. de Vries had to beat the defender AND the keeper, which he did brilliantly. I'm not seriously saying he is better than Alberto, but I think he had to do more for this goal than the Brasilian did.

  • its not just the finish its the build up play from brazil/brasil that sets it off. utd's goal, while being well crafted, just isnt as classy.

  • I'm not going to argue with that, even as a United fan. I just love the way Pele is so nonchalant when he lays the ball off to Alberto. My claims about the United goal being better are tongue-in-cheek. Well, mostly. ;-)

  • Carlos Alberto's goal came at a time Brazil were 3-1 ahead with a few minutes remaining. Italy were dead and buried, and didn't try to put up much resistance. Whereas it was 1-1 with Dundee United and the Rangers players were trying as hard as they could.

For what it's worth, the best Final goal is either Marco van Basten's v USSR in 1988, or Daniele Massaro's 2nd in Milan's 4-0 win against Barcelona.

  • best final goal for me is steven gerrards against west ham - 2006 fa cup final. not that im biased ;-)

  • Scary how similar they are.

    Funny stuff

TOO BAD THE MIGHTY GERS WON! WATP

    na seriously though... unlucky guys.

  • Hahahah!! De Vries wins by a nose-hair.

  • good goal, no doubt.

comparing it to alberto, bit much

  • Aye, amazing goal and all but "Brasil" is spelt with a z and not an s!!

  • Actually, both spellings are used in English, but in Brasilian Portuguese (their official language), the proper way to spell it is with an 's'

  • de vries's goal all the way!

  • Playing a cup final with Dundee united and playing the WORLD CUP with brazil is something REALLY different.

  • True, but Alberto scored his goal in the 86th minute when the Italians were already down and out. United's goal came in extra time when the scores were level - a very tense period of the match. Also, de Vries had to beat a defender before scoring. Anyway, it's not meant to be taken too seriously!

  • superb!

  • Outstanding.. MDV by the proverbial mile !!

  • SHED RULE

  • Magical -Shed Rule.

  • Fantastic stuff!

The Brazilians still have a lot to learn.

  • Lol, that's superb.

  • de vries' goal is better as he had to beat a man before firing it into the net. alberto had a clear shot at goal.

  • Mark De vries wins

  • Willo flood vs st.mirren at love street was even better than Alberto's ;)

As for cup final goals, Mark De Vries has it in the bag =D

  • BRILLIANT! haha

  • this is uncanny

  • MDV's is better!!! :o)
