  • In response to the arguments presented in the video: Being vegetarian is more suited to the human digestive system and therefore our bodies feel better. However if I was to gas a chicken with high levels of gas that made the chicken feel intense euphoria before it passed out, then ate the chicken, would the chickens euphoria release toxins that made me feel good after eating the chicken, as the chicken would also not die in pain, is there a moral issue?

  • I took the first step :-) Thank you...!!

  • Eating a hand full of nuts could give you a good load of calories. Or heck, potato chips for that matter! I've been vegan for 30 years, and am an avid runner, cyclist. Always seem to maintain same body weight.

  • Awesome video and information!!

  • So according to his logic, it would be fine for me to eat chicken just as long as I only take one leg to eat without killing the bird. I'll have to try that.

  • People tend to destroy in the name of money/greed and not survival.

  • People are confuse . Most of the people in the U.S where raise on a meat diet. To them eating meat is a normal way of life. Some people will allow them self's to go crazy If they don't get there daily ration of meat. In the new world to come, meat eating will be a thing of the past..

  • super

  • What about animals who eat meat? I know that's not the same thing as humans eating meat but they are still eating a five sense animal.

  • @Chillitz Haha.

For me, if something can be eaten, I will eat it.

  • @Chillitz I don't think animals are religious.

  • im a little worried about this, karmic effects of eating meat. but i like meat and fish too much to stop eating it.. and i dont really like a lot of vegetarian food so i would be pretty limited.

  • @Simon0 ask yourself one question is meat really that good is it the pleasure really thta good that you cnat live without it after all its just food...pleasure from food is the lowest form of pleasure is it really worth it?....besides theres still dairy products...and i for one also eat eggs cos i cant survive on only vegetarian food i dont see how eggs can feel pain

  • I don't know if I can stop eating meat forever starting right now, but I am willing to work toward it by eating less and less meat until, maybe, I don't eat any at all.

I see what you mean, and I don't think it is "crazy" to have respect for other living creatures. If anyone wants to see what is meant by cruelty, I hope they will watch some videos on slaughterhouses.

  • @MusicalAdrian how are you working on this? After watching the video i am now a bit worried that i eat meat and fish, that it is wrong. but i really like meat and fish! I seriously dont know if i could stop..

  • im vegetarian but i question your values, you act as if plants dont or cant have these senses of pain and that they are not living beings with full senses possibly more than animals....im on the fence about alot of things just wondering what your opinion is about this, thanks

  • @Rasdre420 i go by whether or not something has a brain to determine if it can feel pain or not. plants die, take sustenance, etc. but there's no brain to experience pain. ditto bacteria in yoghurt, etc. what do you think?

  • thanks...you are 100 percentage right

  • I have herad about many bengali and other hindu spritual masters who do eat meat. What do you think abou them?

  • Thank you for telling us, just how sensititve animals really are. I always knew this .And if you are intuitive enough animals can communicate in their own way.

  • Your on the right Path if you follow his instructions.

But be aware, that there is also a Dark Side too. Hitler was also a Spiritual Vegatarian.

  • i would like to be vegetarian.

i always wanted to even before i started my "spiritual path".

i notice that whenever i eat meat (mainly fried food), i would feel sluggish afterwards.

it would probably be hard for me, but one step at a time though : )

  • @BabyGirlGoddess A journey of 1000 miles begins with one step. Don't focus on the end result but instead focus on each step you take. I don't know you personally but I know you can become vegetarian. It is a lot easier than it looks.

  • how does Acharya Shree feel about eating root vegetables, where harvesting kills the plant?

  • I agree with some of the things you are saying, but it was very long and repetitive. It's not necessary to say the same thing again and again, otherwise it sounds too forceful... almost like persuasion.

Ghandi? Albert Einstein? They are not me. I don't have to follow them or their ways. I will go my own path.

That being said, I would like to try vegetarianism.

  • siplicity thx

  • I think vegetarianism is great. But it would not be suitable for eskimos or bedouins, both living in lanscapes vertually without any vegetation.

  • I support vegetarianism not because of spiritualism. You can erradicate famine being a vegetarian. Just do the math...How many kilos of grain do you feed a chicken, pig or a lamb to get 1 kilo of meat. Find the ratio and you will know how much of grain is being spent for the sheer pleasure of tasting the meat of any kind. Al the grains wasted could stop the famine in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia & etc.

You could try to at least reduce the meat intake per week. You could make a difference!

  • Respect for Life is first of all respect for your life source. It doesn't mean that no animal should be killed because some animals can only eat other animals. That is their life source, and they respect their nature. But Humans don't respect their nature which is herbal, as we are primates. Many who claim that meat is necessary to eat are just egoistic people who love meat for its good taste, cooked&spiced.I'd love to see these people hunting an animal with their bare hands and eating it alive.

  • I believe it was like that for quite a long time. Like everything else I believe the first cooked meal was an accident. And they thought wow this is better than eating it raw. A one shot kill is not torture. Cats torture mice and birds. I have much respect for the deer and turkey I harvest. Our first clothes came from animal skin did they not. Native Americans were shaman and they were hunters too were they not. They were very spiritual people.

  • @insurgent28 PEOPLE DONT WANT TO DO RIGHTOUSNESS PEOPLE DONT WANT TO DO RIGHTOUSNESS SEE THATS WHY THOSE PEOPLE THOSE PEOPLE ARE SO SADDDDD AND MISERABLEEEEEE PEACEEEEEEEEEE GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIENDDD GOD BLESS ALL ANIMALS INSECTS BUGS EVERY EVERYONEEE GOD LIVES GOD LIVES IN ALLLLLLLL PEACEEE SEE THATS WHY EATING MEAT IS WRONG GOD GAVE US VEGETABLES AND FRUITS THOSE WERE NATURALLY GIVEN THOSE ARE NATURALLLL PEACEEEEEEEEEEE GOD BLESS AMEN AND AMENN PEACEEE MOSIEEEE

  • @LionEntity Hum, if lost in nature and I need to survive, you are shure that I would only use my hands to kill, but a weapon (it's more efficient)...but if I am forbiden to use any weapons, but my hands, I would go for small preys....because we aren't equiped with deadly natural weapons, like fangs.

  • a very informative video

  • Plants dont feel pain ?

Plants do not have any way to express pain, but they have always expressed a willpower and desire to life. Flowers have angled their stems and grown around walls to reach sunlight, defying physics and gravity. Though they cannot get up and move they will grow in a way to make themselves get food - is that not in a way a very, very primitive form of instinct, which in animals we give the honor of being called "thought"? Something only humans truly have, per se?

  • Most humans dont have the ability to think-just look around you, morons butchering each other over whose imaginary friend is the best and all other sorts of evidence that alot of people arent thinking at all. To think, would be to consider the implications-clearly, they arent.

  • interesting

  • lmao you are pushing it way too far XD

  • Plants have no brains, or nerves, so they are unable to be self aware, or to experience any sort of physical input. Also, if you dont eat them, they will just rot slowly. That kind of "death" is worse than a quick consumption.

  • The best thing I ever did was giving up meat...I respect ALL life & I love animals...we can learn a lot from animals, they are nature at its best & I have seen animals behave better than humans on many occasions! :-)

  • I really think vegetarianism is the way to go against animal cruelty. What I found interesting was Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, in his video, The Joy of Liberating Animals on Youtube, advised his students to turn vegetarian to create the causes to build an animal sanctuary or shelter. This is to show their commitment to care for animals instead of just saying they care. We dont really care for animals if we keep eating them every meal!

  • my neighbor, a farmer in portugal offers me homemade sausage from pig that his wife made.

HE IS PROUD OF THE QUALITY: shall I refuse and say this food I cannot accept? you do wrong eating meat?? just another aspect:-)

  • In a situation like that, tell him that you are very flattered but you have chosen not to eat animals. If his mind is accepting, he won't be offended.

  • By your logic, if your neighbour was snatching small children off the street, killing them and making sausages out of them, you would have to eat the sausages because he was "proud" of their taste.

Putting effort into doing something (like butchering pigs) does not justify doing it at all.

  • Did jesus eat lamb and fish? that is not a vegetable.

  • I believe Einstein was just vegetarian the last year of his life - but he had expressed that he always felt guilty for eating meat and thought vegetarianism was the way to go for everyone.

Also. I'm not sure if Ghandi managed to stay vegetarian, but I know he tried.

That said, who knows how much more "in touch" they would've been had they been full-time veg*an, perhaps even raw v*gan:

    watch?v=SRwehR570aY

  • I have tried being a vegetarian for 3 months but I have failed. I got strong cravings for meat, low energy and felt hungry all the time. Should I give it more time to adapt to the vegetarian diet? Should I transition really slowly like you recommended in another video? Is this the key?

  • Some manage to do it overnight, like me. Went vegetarian in January, then dropped fish and dairy and became a vegan, and now I've been raw vegan for over a month and never felt better. If I had cravings, they were very weak. Now I never want to eat meat again.

Do what feels right for you. Don't get down on yourself if you "cheat". If you want to do it slowly, drop meat first, then poultry, then fish. You can supplment Omega-3 fish oil until you've satisfied yourself with plant alternatives.

  • Try to replace meat with things like tofu.

Eat snacks such as nuts and seeds (these are called pulses).

To keep levels of zinc and potassium etc up, eat more fruit

    :)

  • i am trying to turn veggie, but i dont know many recipes yet, i have been fasting and can feel my self drawing closer to spirit. i wish i knew this stuff before, now mykids will cry for meat... Please pray for me to lead them properly, they deserve all the besti n life.

  • start weaning them with veggie burgers, veggie dogs with all the trimmings. That is the easiest first step, because I am guessing your kids like all kids eat these foods.

  • i cant see why milk is so bad my uncle has a dairy farm with 80 cows and they are treated kindly.most even have names and they spend all day grazing in the open fields.they even make there own way up to the milking shed cause they get treats when milked.

  • There are some awful farms, with many downer disabled cows forced to move to the milking sheds with electric prods and the like. Also many of the calves are sent to slaughter for veal, and then the dairy cows are slaughtered once their milk is no longer up to standard.

  • sadly, most farms aren't like that these days. these days, farms are metal factories with crammed, tight spaces, that treat cows with growth hormones. your uncle is one of the fortunate few. you should drink the milk from his farm, if you can.

  • There are certified humane dairy farms and many uncertified dairy farms that take great care of their herds. You rarely find them in the supermarkets though.

  • @rm80cpower nice.

  • I think one of the main reasons western culture has not adopted the vegetarian ideas is because we are trained to want meat from all the television and advertisements we see around us. so much so that vegetarianism in north america is almost looked down upon. thinking that we need to be tough killing machines instead of compassionate, thoughtful individuals. well thats just my take on it

  • Yes, you are correct -- and many Americans/Westerners have an aggressive attitude against vegetarians because it is seen as being something "weak" or "wimpy." It is sad that people see compassion as being a negative thing and it is even more sad that people who are blinded by their own lusts for meat and the taste of meat won't give it up merely because they enjoy eating it. This to me is a very materialistic way of living and such people are in bondage to the material.

  • This so true, iloveterriers.

You touched on a couple of good points. I have experienced resentment, anger, condescendence, mockery, interrogation, insults, hostility and more by everyone from complete strangers to family when they learn that I do not eat meat.

I think they truly are in bondage and choose to view us as weak as it makes them feel better in their blind mind's eye!

  • Its just the capitalism machinery at work and the media/advertisements are their process engineers...always maximising its efficiency in brainwashing and bombarding our minds with "Whats best for you"s!

  • You are right. I think the Media and false advertisements brainwash so many people. Just like they said Processed Dairy Milk was good for you and other dairy products. Dairy products are horrible for us.

  • Like some comedian once said: its hard to call yourself an animal lover, and then eat them. Its just a strange way to show your affection. thats like calling a cannibal a "people person".

  • Veggies.

  • Holiness and divinity is all about purity and thoughtfulness.

  • Teacher, you are so right in so many things. God bless you!!

  • Is Yogeesh study budhism, hinduism or what? I am also trying to become a vegetarian, but this is a slow process, as it is very difficult to give up something I have been used to having all my life.

  • is that why people pray before they eat??

  • Milking a cow for food seems similar to egg harvesting.i've heard that eating eggs isn't vegetarian to some religious sects. Why?

  • If the egg is non fertilized then it's okay to eat the egg

  • The egg could have been life. Not the milk. It is also important to note that only drinking milk from a cow that has not been mistreated or abused is ok. So there is no milk you can buy in a store and it being ok, even if it is organic.

  • When a living enlightened Master says to be vegetarian..that it is the first step to a spiritual life..just do it or go with another spiritual teacher..stop trying to justify your insanity...whats wrong with "low minded" ignorant is a better word..is'nt 2,000 years long enough to be ignorant..shouldn't there be some evolving into a higher mind set? At least we evolved from cannibalism..that was a giant step for humanity!!

  • than them and if this is true than why is it so wrong for us to kill them? i mean its a natural order right? but im confused so i am asking for ur guidance, so please get back to me

    Namaste

  • mc2spades23, You are correct, beastly animals are allowed to kill others and eat them. But are you an animal or a beast?

Do you live like one? If you do then that is ok, because it is your duty. But It is said that Humans have been given Divine knowledge, that gives you the thought to think and ask questions. Because of this you don't need to act like an animal anymore.

    Animals live, reproduce, and die.

is that your destiny? is that what you want to accomplish?

  • i have subscribed to you and respect your point of views, i also am inquisitive in the sense that i am always questioning things i mean why take everything with a grain of salt right? still i ask you directly as im seeking some guidance at the moment, if we are all animals and animals kill each other? is it really wrong for us to kill? my other thought is that maybe animals dont have a sense of spirituality and so this does not apply to them and only us so in some sense we are higher then them>>

  • AcharyaShree Namaste, can I embed your videos on my website? I want to embed those videos which can also be understood by low minded Christians.

    Sukriya.

  • Please don't term Christians or people of other religions as "low minded" . I am a devout Hindu myself and know people from all religions with all kinds of mentalities. There is no greatness in demeaning others.

    Om.

  • Tally, a religious mind is always a low mind, is rightly termed that way. A spiritual mind is another story though.

  • People who eat meat are heavy weight because the food take forever to digest and fat continues to grow.

  • Animals feel the same pain as humans do. If killing animals do not matter to human then we should not talk about peoples' head getting cut off. EVERY LIVING THING FEELS PAIN. EVEN WHEN YOU GIVE VALENTINE'S ROSE TO YOUR LOVED ONES.

  • I've tried Vegetarianism / Veganism, but I got sick because of protein and iron deficiency. So I went back to eating meat.

  • There are some protein powders(NOT CAPSULES) out there that you can use in order to fill the gap. I am Vegetarian my self and I am gaining muscles.

  • I've been vegetarian for about a year now (since Acharya Shree's last video on vegetarianism), but I am a fitness fanatic and need more calories than I would need for survival in order to build and maintain muscle, do you think this is OK? If they are in an unconcious state an don't feel anything, is it wrong of me to eat a little extra everyday, or is more it a case of, "what right do I have to unnessecarily cause the death of even a plant?"

  • Keeping a body healthy through exercise is very good and does require more food intake, especially when vegetarian.

  • That's great, thanks.

  • I have been vegetarian for about a year and a half now, and i am also a fitness fanatic like yourself. I have been building muscle continuosly since becoming a vegetarian as well. I do not eat meat. I simply make sure that I eat plenty of protein. Being a vegetarian bodybuilder also makes it much easier to cut fat and just build lean muscle.

  • @mark1983peace good job! keeping fit is very good i think.

  • Indeed......Be vegetarian.....we just live temporary in this body......why try to satisfy the tongue maximum?........especially cows.......which are holy........people drink their milk, like a mother feeds a child, and still kill them....this is painful.....may the lord be merciful unto those ignorant people!

  • Why am I seeing a mcdonalds quarter pounder ad in the upper right on this page? For real, no joke...:-)

  • If one kills animals in self-defense, such as spraying pesticides to kill cockroaches and rats, does that count as bad karma?

  • I agree with this to a certain extent, but I have tried going without meat and I just waste away.

  • Good video.

  • great video, i learned a lot and am considering being a vegetarian now.

  • Food shall be Satvik (pure) in nature. It should be easily digestible. Non-vegetarian food requires more effort from digestive system and hence it increases the body temperature, rate of metabolism. This would create uneasiness towards practice and practice will not give any fruitful results.

  • Every living being has the right of freedom.

By eating meat, one acknowledges torture, pain & crime can be done upon them because, while taking life of any living creature all these sufferings are involved. Even if one ignores this and continues to eat non-veg food, Law of Karma ensures these torture, pain & crime will be done on them either in this lifetime or in next incarnation.

  • Analyze why you suffered from physical pain or mental pain in the past? Was there any immediate reason why it happened on you? You could not figure it out because you forgot the crime you did. But Law of Karma is ensuring you will be going through the same phase as what you caused to other living beings in the past.

  • Excellent.

  • Good arguments. I've been vegetarian for 2.5 years.

"Love animals, don't eat them", as one said on YouTube.

  • Is eating vegetables not the same as eating an animal's fetus? Some food for thought.

    Namaste.

  • The animal fetus is/was designed to get animal body. Plant was designed to be plant, and stay in ''sleep'' state that life.
