I have a question. When you do the glazing of Dark Flesh over the yellow, do you have to move the brush more toward the area llittle more each time to place where the shadows are strongest? Let's say I have a sword and I want to do glazing. After I make the first glaze do I have to reduce the area like one mm less and over and over again untill I'm brushing on the final glaze at the very bottom of the sword? I hope I described it well, I tried this but it didn't work like i wanted
@UnityCZ hey, not really. With using diluted paint, the pigment will end up where you end your brush stroke, therefore you don't really have to decrease your area of starting. As the layers build up more though, you will naturally switch to a smaller area to focus the blending:)
@kinglichmo1 i stated in the space marine tutorial, you can paint them the exact same way, and there was no point in making another tutorial, to show the exact same thing.
yes man! pt2 pt2 pt2 pt2 pt2 pt2 pt2 pt2 :-) loving your vids and tutorials, but yours and MACs intros kill my computer. join the Save the Computer from OP's and MAC's intro Foundation. (lol).
i don't have the wash paint.. can i use the same black acrylic paint and have a similar result? i'm not gona paint a lot of figures so buying a few paint would help on the budget
@christianvcastillo that is ok! just water down some black paint and put that into the crevices. Will not give the EXACT same look, but will do the job :)
@ObsidianPainting There's a technique that my friend uses to highlight the shadows eariler. Basically he gets a thick coat of a colour and wipes it on kitchen roll untill there is no physical trail left by it. Then because theres still paint trapped within the brissels he skims over the model several times and it comes out looking fantastic.
This is why I love this gaming community. People don't hide the knowledge they have about how to paint and share it with others. I've played games where people who get good at it they keep their secrets to success and that's just no fun.
P.S-sorry for multiple, unneccessary comments, but its not first 5 pple for the 5 full dvds, but just any random 5 you get within the preorder time right?
Isn't desaturating a color bad because it lowers it's intenisty? Like when you add white, grey or black? Menoth White Highlight isn't a full white, so it doesn't do the same thing right? Correct me if i'm wrong. And to be honest, I couldn't do this after your videos. but then I watched it again, and I got it. =)
And glad you fixed the focusing issues from your older vids.
awesome! i tough you had abandoned the black reach tutorial project, im so glad to see its still coming, btw awesome tutorials! ill be getting my black reach box next week :D

@ObsidianPainting oh neat.. so.. do i apply it the same way as a normal wash or to the crevices only?
christianvcastillo 3 weeks ago
@christianvcastillo you can use water and a drop of dish soap to break down the surface tension.

Do you have to wait for each layer to dry when you are using that highlight technique? if so, how much time does it take to dry each layer?
Reon5385 1 month ago
@Reon5385 if your paint is thin enough, by the end of the brush stroke
