There were a lot of players that could/should have been better than they were but Coleman should have been discussed as one of the best PFs of all time. He had everything and then some as a player
This man is walking proof, talent without effort is worthless. undeniably one of the most talented players to ever set foot on court. undeniably his attitude made him worth no more than 47,000 views on a low bitrate youtube vid.
He could have been Karl Malone who can also shoot the 3. Feel bad for the guy I'm kinda surprised it doesn't happen more often to players to fall victim in all that side shit.
Those Nets teams of the early 90's were real shoulda, woulda, coulda teams. One or two pieces away from being a contender and never grew. Drazen Petrovic's death was the beginning of the end.
i agree 100% he had so much skill. he had the best handle for a power forward could rebound and block a shot or two when motivated. He just fell in love with the buffet.
great big man. great trash talker. he was nasty on defense. great shot blocker. he could rebound and dunked hard as hell. he had great handle for a guy his size. nice post up moves. even though he was fat he had hustle.
The scary thing is, he never reached his full potential as good as he was. This guy had a chance to be one of the top 5 best power forwards ever. He truly was wasted talent.
Sadly man guys like that. Shawn Kemp among one of them. Shaq to an extent (considering his once in a century athleticism and physique). Isiah Rider if he focused more for the sport.
I won't say top five but highly notable in the 90's.
unfortuately, DC is never afraid to take it inside due to his awesome size. Bosh would rather take a mid range jumper than get in the mix down the low block.
the 94-95 nets were one of the most dysfunctional teams in nba history...the 99-00 clippers, 95-96 dallas mavericks, and the 06-07 new york knicks are the only teams that had worse chemistry
Lamar Odom is no waste of talent jerk. He could be the best basketball player in the league right now scoring 25 ppg but all that stuff does not matter to him anymore. The only thing he cares about now is winning a championship. Unlike Coleman L.O is a true team player. BTW Coleman is no bust 16 ppg how is that a failure??
DC could do it all, except live up to his high billing. He made only one damn all star team and was never a dominant player. He was a bust and a joke.
I wouldn't really call him a bust, he did avg 20 and 10 for a few season early in his career. His attitude and bad work ethic were a huge factor in his decline. I mean, if Shaq had the same passion and work ethic that Derrick Coleman had he wouldn't have won 4 rings or even be in the league right now. DC had the skills but didn't have the maturaty. His passing, speed and ball handling for someone that size could have made him one of the best post players in the 90's.
Shaq is a different story. I wouldn't say he's not motivated but Shaq somewhat met his full potential however he could have dominated both sides of the court if he wanted to. DC had the skillset, physique and athleticism that was beyond many of his peers then. But instead of working harder to be the best, he took what was given to him and never complained.
No one has ever banged on Shaq...was all rumors..Shaq banged hard on David Robinson in the 1996 All Star Game..its on youtube...u wont find a video of anyone banging on Shaq though.
No, I've seen David Robinson Dunk on Shaq in one Western Conference Final, and I've also seen Lawrence Funderburke dunk on Shaq. If I can dig out my old tapes, I'll try and post those dunks.
Derrick Coleman's game was so versatile for a athletic power player...I hated it when he ballooned with all that weight...
