jackelprince1988....yeah so... baptizing and baptisms hold not power in anointing anyone. if you read acts it says how we are to be baptized. Acts 1:5
We should not always be repenting that is a false gospel>Christions have the victory now its not forth coming.Glory is the crown of victory not the establishing of it.Read Heb6:1,2 A constant battle with sin is undemining to Christ. There is no false hope coming from Christ,so no man saved has falsity. The foolishness of the gospel saves it is GOD who gives faith and endurance.
Once Saved Always Saved. But salvation is not an easy thing. On our part we need to trust and obey and believe in Jesus as Lord and that God raised Him from the dead and yes repent from our sins and to repent remains in our hearts we are constantly repenting because Jesus lives in us. When we are baptized it gives us the power of the Holy Spirit to go out and accomplish works if you arent blessed and annointed you cannot evagelize with power dont doubt if your saved but ask if your in the Spirit
how about the one of the many verses that say in revelation chapter 3 verses 5 to 6 well the people that had there name in the book of life must have been once saved??so read it for you are not once saved always saved boy people don't want to listen to scripture listen to what the bible say's yes you can lose salvation mathieu 7verses 21 to 23 do you really want to hear what the bible say's??
washer says many Biblical truths! but he doesn't understand grace. he's focused too much on works..yes! there is a true change if you receive Jesus Christ (1 Cor 5:17) there is repentance and we should walk as children of light (Ephe 5:8), but we don't do so to test God's saving grace, but out of love for our true Father in heaven! Matthew 7:21-23 its not because of works people think they do for the Lord, but about having faith in salvation only through Jesus Christ ..Romans 4:4-5
Oh, my dear, he understands grace better than a lot of modern preachers (listen to his sermon on songs of solomon). We do the test of our faith - whether our faith is real, how do you know your faith is real? Do you trust yourself or the word of God? If the latter one then the test of assurance is a normal thing to you.
Paul, Peter and John (this one the most clearly) encouraged people to test their faith, and make their election sure.
I was a false convert - trusting your heart is deadly.
i obviously trust in the Word. that's why i wrote text from the Bible that people could read. You're misinterpreting the TESTING of faith. Children of God examine, test ourselves (2 Cor. 13:4-5) because were still in the flesh, and we still do things that aren't pleasing to God. Apostle Paul was sure that they trusted in Jesus for their salvation. The testing in James 1:3 is regarding persecutions and trials. Good works will happen when you receive Jesus, but it's not what secures salvation.
I am not talking about James 1:3 but about James presenting the evidence of true faith and lack of it in dead faith.
You are adding words to what Paul says in 2 Cor. and the context does not suggest he means testing their actions to make sure they are fully God's will but testing ourselves to check whether Christ is in us.
Faith secures salvation. But the evidence of faith is our changed heart - hatred to sin, and living for God.
trusting your heart is deadly because its deceitful!! (Jere 17:9), and that's why I and all other born again Christians trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ and Him alone.
yes, we trust in Christ. But how do you know you actually trust in Christ - because your heart says you do?
There are certain things that happen if one truly trust in Christ/believe in God. And we can have biblical assurance our trusting/believing is true - not just an illusion that our hearts create.
And this is what Paul Washer tries to get across to people.
I think you're misunderstanding Paul Washer. He teaches grace; he understands grace; he does NOT teach works salvation.
He's saying that good works is evidence one is saved, NOT that one is saved by doing good works. So many people today think they're saved when they're not, and the fact that they don't change and perpetuate in sin for the entire course of their lives shows that. Again, to clarify, doing good works and repenting does NOT mean you're saved, but it is SHOWS that you are
that's why it's about faith in Jesus Christ! washer says Rev. 3:20 is for the church (Gods children), but 2 Cor. 13:4-5 is for the church too! Apostle Paul told the church in corinth to examine themselves because he knew they're still in the flesh, they still sin, but he was sure they were secure in their salvation. ITS NOT BY WORKS, WE CANT TEST OUR SALVATION! Eph 2:8-8, Rom 4:4-5..you either truly receive Jesus with sincere faith or don't. James 1:6-8..you can't receive Jesus with doubt.
It is by works that we can test our faith! Like the tree is tested by its fruits.
'you either truly receive Jesus with sincere faith or don't'
not true, you can have sincere faith in Jesus you created. You can truly believe you are saved from hell because of the sacrifice on the cross - and yet not be saved because there is no change in your heart, and you have sympathy towards Jesus out of love to yourself.
where did i write it was sympathy towards Jesus or love for myself, a sinner, (Romans 3:23)? a change of heart does happen when you receive Jesus Christ(2 Cor 5:17). it's never been about works to assure salvation, David was a man who committed adultery w/ Bathsheba and had her husband, Uriah killed, but was still called a man after God's own heart and clearly had a relationship with God. please read Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4:4-5 its all about trust and faith in what Jesus has done at the cross!
repentance is also a work that assures OUR FAITH. We are not talking about bases of salvation. David repented when he realized his sin against God. And he did not sin as a practice of life - which Paul Washer talks about. He knows we sin but there is a difference between that and living in sin.
Oh, I am sorry if you understood I spoke about you. I used the term 'you' in general, sorry. So I meant 'One can have sincere faith...'.
This is a right/correct standard of measurment. To what God says we should look like. After reading some of these blogs, I think people ought to hear the message he preaches. Jesus is the only way!
I have respect for paul washer- I heard him speak to america on how slothful believers have become and truely he speaks--but listening to him here;shows me he is placeing to much on brand new faith--for that is not biblical. No you say/? They believed from their heart;but if you then say lets test against meat --we have missed what milk is. We become a child in the faith, he the holy spirit makes us new--not us nor our knowledge of what a walk in christ can be compared to. Remember no bible then
I don't hear that last part in this message. I hear he is preaching a message about converting. A place that looks different than the place you and I came from. A simple message. We have too many tares in the church. Let's test fruit. Every day. That is what Jesus told us. Do we bear the fruit of the Spirit? cont..
Although I like much of Paul Washer's preaching I have to say I disagree with his view on Certainty of Salvation. If I had to have a life that is according to God's will to have certainty, then I would never be certain. There will always be things in my life that contradicts my faith, that's what a christian have to live with. My Certainty of Salvation is in Christ and Christ alone. He died for my sins, and therefore I am saved. Nothing more, nothing less.
Did you repent towards the Lord God? I was just asking cause you didn't mention that. You hve to repent and forsake sins and only trust Him, not yourself ever. That's what it means to die to yourself, that your life isn't as important as His life being lived through you. Just thought I would help, and exaime you according to the scriptures 1 Corinth 13
Hi. Well, I'm a lutheran and I believe that I repented when I was baptized as an infant. I also mean that I live in a continuos repentance. But I would never say that I am saved because I repented. I say that I am saved because Jesus Christ died for my sins and He is The Lord and so on. The thing is that in that statement, I repent and believe. It is really only a matter of putting words, but I would say that it is dangerous to say:
Why would you not say because you have repented? Jesus said Himself that you have to repent and believe. Read through the gospels, when we sin we transgress His Law the one He made with Moses on Mount Sanai. When we do the things that are written in the Law to others we do them to the Lord, our sins are against Him. The sins put Him on the cross, 2 Corinth 7. In Ezekiel it says about repentance and forsake those things (sins). He gives the faith, and belief when we trust Him even as you say.
I feel that if I say that, I am putting the focus on myself and my deed. There should be nothing from myself and therefore I don't like to express it like that.
Hi. Well, I'm a lutheran and believe that I repented and believed when I was baptized as an infant, and of course that I am in a continuous repentence. In a way this is just a matter of putting words. When I say: "Christ is Lord. He has reconciled me with God through his blood", I am confessing that I repent and believe. I would never say that I am a christian because I repent and believe but rather because of the work that Christ did on Calvary. As you said: "only trust Him, not yourself ever"
I believe it is dangerous if you have a confession like "because I repent and believe therefore..." even if that is the case. My Certainty of Salvation is in Christ, and Christ alone. It seems to me that Washer's Certainty is in his changing of character. I don't say that my character is not changing, but I would never rely on how I'm changing. But I can always rely on the Work of Christ. That is The Gospel that sets people free.
HUH!??? You wrote: "Well, I'm a lutheran and believe that I repented and believed when I was baptized as an infant..."
Just how did you do that? Can you show me in the Bible where it says infants repent at their baptism?...or where babies are baptized?
Are you trusting in being a Lutheran or that you repented toward God, a conscious adult decision and that you live in repentance, BECAUSE you trust and believe on Yah'shua/Jesus ALONE?
Hmm...Should have suspected an answer like this. This is not the place to discuss baptism so I suggest you read some Luther, or if you are patient I could send you a message where I explain the lutheran view, but that could take a while.
I am not trusting in being a Lutheran nor that I repented. I trust in the Work of Christ, and that alone. I thought I was clear on that point earlier...
Yes, you should have expected an answer like this since what you wrote is unBiblical. I'm truly not interested in manmade (Lutheran) view,so please don't send me a message like that.Where does the Bible condone denominations?
I pray you do trust Christ alone...I'm not sure why you needed to bring up other un Biblical, unnecessary, and potential, stumbling blocks for others though. They must mean something to you. (?)
I worry that Paul Washer tells people to repent of their sins (unsaved people).
Why the hesitation? Relax, Brother. I brought it up because Shoots1978 asked me if I repented towards the Lord God, and I wanted to give an honest answer.
I have nothing against Washer telling people to repent, but I worry when he says that his Certainty of Salvation lies in his changing character and not the Work of Christ on the Cross. Don't you worry about that?
Hesitation? Brother? It's vital that you repented (changed your mind toward the Lord).Shoots asked the right question. You gave the wrong answer ~ baby baptism has NOTHING to do with repenting.
Paul Washer brings up important questions about our character ~ we all slip, but we don't live like the devil when the Holy Spirit is in us.That is Biblical assurance.
I do not agree with him about telling lost people that repenting of sin is grounds for salvation. Fine lines..but important ones.
Sorry, Sister. =P As I said, this is not the place to discuss baptism. But believe me, I have been through this issue very deeply and by my studies of it I have been convinced that there is nothing wrong in baptizing babies. And that there is Salvation in baptism. When I started my studies I put myself in a rather objective position and tried arguments for both sides, and I suggest that you also do that. Try to look at it without having the starting point that you know the answer.
I actually feel offended by your attitude to this issue. A little more humbleness would be nice. Don't you think Luther, and other theologians that are pro-children-baptism, have thought the issue through? Are they just stupid? It seems to me that you believe they, and I, are that and therefore not worth listening to. That attitude is not good in any case.
Btw, sorry for using the wrong word. English is only my second language. I meant over-excitment, not hesitation.
The Bible is the final word on this subject. You don't even seem to realize that you do not, in fact trust Christ alone...you've made that clear.
I apologize for the offense you read into my words...yet,I am offended for the sake of the Gospel and false information you have written on a public forum.
You are very well-spoken (typed?) for English being your second language.
I pray you learn to trust the Lord and your Bible over denominations and men's musings.
"I apologize for the offense you read into my words"
Nice apology. I appreciate that...
"I am offended for the sake of the Gospel and false information you have written on a public forum."
You must be a busy woman if you do this every time you find (what you believe is) false information on a public forum. ;)
Again I would like to encourage you to study baptism and find out why Luther and I belive it is right to baptize babies. Why do you think we believe it is?
"You must be a busy woman if you do this every time you find (what you believe is) false information on a public forum. ;)"
Just the ones that stand out blatantly.
Catholics and Lutherans baptize for the reason you stated.."that there is salvation in baptism". They believe babies are born with sin that needs to be humanly done away with by some voodoo ritual.
Unless the Bible is read as intended..the baptism argument will be muddled, and go on endlessly, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.
"Catholics and Lutherans baptize for the reason you stated..."
The inevitable following question is of course: Why do you think Catholics and Lutherans (they are not the only ones) believe there is salvation in baptism?
My honest answer?Because they are deceitful pagan religions of men which add to, and take away from, the words of YHWH/God and the work of Yah'shua/Christ.
There is only ONE baptism in this dispensation..it's the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Again..another can of worms and too much to go into here.
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
@mizbayakh You are missunderstanding this. If thats so, why in the book of facts when people were baptized by the holy spirit, they were baptized AFTER that in water???
Jesus said we have to be born from WATER AND SPIRIT.
And there are MANY MANY verses quoting the WATER baptism AFTER the death and resurrection of JesusChrist.
Hch 8:36,37 Hch 10:46,47 ...Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
a pharisee believes that there is salvation in baptism ...why do you think in matthew 3 where john asks "who told you of the coming wrath" where is your fruit that is worthy of repentance?" they where going down there not just to watch but they were going down there to be baptized if not then john would not have ask who told you of the coming wrath...so they where going down there to be baptized.....and then he ask where is the fruit that youve truly repented??
Well that's great. I was just checking, so thanks for that. And Luthern is great too, besides I like the stuff he wrote. I have his 95 thesis on my computer.
excellent message!God bless you! It really nourished me! Thanks a lot and greetings from Argentina!

Only Lukewarm Worldly "Christians" Condemn Paul Washer.
We need MORE Repentance and Holiness in our churches.
The fact that so many of you Haters do NOT want to Repent is the reason you attack Paul Washer.
You Lukewarm "Christians" want an easy Joel Osteen fake, superficial Religion with NO WORKS of Faith.

Again I would like to encourage you to study baptism and find out why Luther and I belive it is right to baptize babies. Why do you think we believe it is?
Thanks for your prayers. =)

I would argue that they are quite alot. =P

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
