I love our city, and couldn't be prouder when i say i'm from limerick city. The media constantly keep SCORE between gangs in a twisted bid to encourage retaliation. front page reports saying things like "MAN SHOT DEAD. NOW THERE'S GOING TO BE A BLOODBATH!" then they go to say who died, who killed him, what gang they belong to, a guarda 'source' saying "the effected gang's numbers have been weakened, wefear there will be a bloodbath to weaken the oposing gangs numbers. the media are dangerous!!

@whisky321 It is really great to read that some people love Limerick and are proud of it. We had Gangs also. The worst weapons we had were sticks and stones but no one in our gangs in those days were killed or crippled. Most of us Gang members in those days went to Mass every Sunday and confession at least once a Month' Plus we had the Holy Family Confraternity at the "Fathers", St. Anthony's Tuesday nights at the Franciscans and Benediction in the evenings at most of the other Churches!.

Give us a 1 hour special on all the cool stuff in Limerick. We are overdue it. This is the same city that goes electric on days of big rugby matches. Has 4 rowing clubs on a river full of beautiful swans. Modern glass towers sit alongside the longest row of Georgian architecture in Ireland. The UL campus is the most modern and expansive in Ireland. Limerick has the most freely flowing traffic of all Irish cities. Very few Limerick people are 'up themselves' and will happily chat to strangers.

When a country bans guns from law abiding citizens owning them, then only criminals will have the guns.

Criminals in Ireland and the UK have a free reign on anyone and anywhere they like. They know they will not be met with any resistance from the public.

And the percentage of criminals that use guns compared to the law abiding gun owners is really low.

The problem portrayed here in the video is between a families who hate each other with the hatred spreading down through the generations. A solution would be to imprision the adults and foster out the kids all over Ireland. These guys couldn't care less about me owning a gun - they are not after me!!

There's less of a gun culture here than in the US. Britain, Ireland and Iceland are the only countries in the world with unarmed policeforces. This is what the citizens want.

Since the UK has banned private citizens from owning firearms, the violent crime rates have risen at an alarming rate. That's not an opinion, that's a statistical fact.

And yes, some citizens want an unarmed police force and do not want to personally own firearms.

But that is not the mindset of ALL citizens in the UK and Ireland.

If the UK gun bans worked so well, why has the UK created more armed police units?

I can't speak for the UK, I live in Ireland. However there is an armed police unit in Ireland in case they are required. They are trained to deal with hostage and terrorist situations mostly. I should have said that Dectectives are also armed, and they have shot and killed bad guys who were in the process of committing a crime. Its rare.

I think you will find most Irish are against private citizens owning handguns (you can own rifles and shotguns for hunting etc provided you have a licence).
