  • I remember using my friend's sister's easy bake oven to dry out ditch weed.....we would laugh when she made a cake in it afterwards since she had no idea what we used it for. It worked pretty well!

  • I'm planning on getting a super Spirograph for my husband this Christmas... do you really need the paper and pens that come with it to get it to work? The ones that I've seen in Ebay do not include paper nor pens... if anyone knows, I'll really appreciate the info... I can't find it anywhere!

  • @fioreariadne The pens yes, the paper I'm not sure.

Check and see if the dimensions (thickness, weight, gloss level) of the paper provided are indicated on the box or instructions. The nibs on the pens have to be long enough to contact the paper through the holes in the wheels. It's hard (or at least it used to be back in the days of my childhood!) to find other pens that would work when Spirograph's pens dried out. Now, I think you can contact the manufacturer for replacements.

  • @fioreariadne Forgot to add that the pens need to be thin enough as well -- some pen nibs are too short or too wide. Aggravated my sisters and me no end -- when the original pens ran out of ink, we couldn't use it anymore. BUT at least we managed one or two years of use before that happened.

As this is coming to you now that Christmas is over, I hope you managed to find a Spirograph with the pens included. :)

  • @redrosestoo I did! My husband loved it so much and he managed to make the pens work, he does some awesome drawings. Thank you for the info!

  • All I did with those Spirographs was make an ugly mess. And I wanted one of those easy Bake Ovens too, but I never got one. I finally got one as an adult. but it was for my niece.

  • Was that Elton John @ 0:19

  • HOLY CRAP, I REMEMBER THIS!!!!!! Not the comercials, spirograph! I never knew what it was called though...

  • And then after you make the drawings...they serve absolutely ZERO purpose. "Oh boy. I have a spiral drawing that I can..Um..stare at all day. Gee, what "fun."

  • @Mysterycat74 When you're eight it doesn't seem as big of an issue. I was proud of my creations anyway, and mom tacked the nicer ones onto the fridge. I learned fine motor coordination, and the qualities of patience and perseverance from using Spirograph.

  • I WANT A SPIROGRAPH! THEY BETTER BRING IT BACK!

  • That poor girl didn't get to taste what she made. Damn greedy little boy, lmao

  • @CoalMyn The women cooks the man his meal, that's the law of nature....

  • @wolfgangzrx lmao, it's funny in this case

  • "....and an underpaid dishwasher!"

  • I love Spirograph and I fell in love with Kenner

  • I LOVED my spirograph and my Easy Bake Oven!!!

    Oh the good ol' days!!

  • Sorry people I was on a 60s acid trip when I used this toy

  • That's a Ruth Buzzi fairy!

  • 0:03 loop that all day long~

  • i had the spirograph :)

  • I had a sprirograph and an easy bake oven when I was a kid. They were so much fun!

  • It's fun! It's Kenner!

    AUK!!

  • what the hell pop corn

  • wow kids were happy to get toys like these and they were happy now a days kids arnt happt unless they get phones psps computers and half of them are still not happy it would of been so much cheaper to have kids in those days

  • lol, the girl didnt even get any, the boy ate it all

  • Note that the boy never did any baking--just eating! What a message we were getting!

  • I used my spirograph like crazy...loved it!

and I had one of those easy bake ovens too!

man i'm lovin' these old commercials.

  • NOW I remember what I want for Christmas! :-)

  • I had spirograph.

    I loved it.

BTW,does anybody know of a web site that would ship an Easybake oven to Australia? My little niece is desperate to cook like her mummy and I think this would be a safer idea,so if you know where I could get one(Amazon won't ship to Australia) without the postage being too prohibitive I'd be eternally grateful. Her birthday is next month and I'd love to buy her this. Thanks!

  • "so much fun your eyes will BLEED when they see wat your hands have done" WTF

  • man if i was the lil gril i wode slape him say i mad this i eat it bich

  • LMAO! WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT BOYS FACE AT 0:05

  • Is that kid @0:05 Jim Carey?

  • @cast390 No, it's Christopher Knight. You know Peter Brady.

  • Miss my Easy Bake Oven.

  • I had both Spirograph and Super Spirograph. I loved using both but it was never as easy as they make it look in the ad. Sooner or later when you were using one of the outside holes on one of the bigger wheels and going around the outside of the ring gear, you'd slip and ruin the piece. It was still a lot of fun though. Getting replacement paper was a challenge because what mom gave me after I ran out was not as nice as the smooth shiny stuff that came with it.

  • @bagelboi66 Yeah, I remember having the same kind of frustration with Spirograph ... it's especially tough if you are like me with a Perfectionist's complex...

  • @bagelboi66 Yes, regular paper wasn't as durable either. In the areas where the pen would go over several times, rips in the paper would start to form. The long tracks were hard to follow. You really needed to concentrate. I remember using the tacks to pin the tracks down. After a while, there would be no solid place left on the cardboard to tack them down. The tack holes would make the cardboard week and your pen would push through the paper and ruin your design :(

  • @bagelboi66 I hear ya! I had a lot of trouble with it too. In my case though, the cardboard that came with it was so full of holes from the pins that inevitably my pen would snag a hole and the wheel would jump the ring. Aggravated me no end, but yet somehow I never managed to get a new piece of cardboard. Ahhh, the memories.... LOL

  • We still have our 1960s easy bake oven.

  • did yall see how those kids looked at the beginning of the commercial they looked like they was bored to death.

  • is that the first ever Easy bake commercial.

  • I always wanted one but my mom never bought one. I would always ask and she finally said, "You're old enough to use a real stove now". LOL

  • I am the DaVinci of Spirograph! My work should be in the Smithsonian.

  • OMG! That little boy took that cake out of that hot oven right after it was done! It's a wonder he didn't seriously burn himself!

  • Ah the good old days when you could give a kid a toy that glowed red-hot. You could set fire to the living room with one of those too.

  • God! My sister had one of those dam things and couldn't bake one dam cake without burning it. There is one take back here, the chocolate chip cookies were really good.

  • I had both of those!

  • i still have mine!!!

  • That's right, ladies, are you getting this? You cook the food and the men eat it.

  • What the hell is wrong with the kid in the glasses?

  • nic taste of some white meat

  • my sister had 1 of the oid ez bakes in the 60s the cakes really tasted bad for some reason. but since i was a fat kid i just ate and smiled at her. thanks sis.

  • Spriograph! We used to get a new one for christmas every year (we would lose the pieces) but I think my mum enjoyed them even more then we did=)

  • Voiceover kinda sounds like David Sedaris!

  • why does that fairy have a beard?????

  • @thebunnygirl1010 holy crap... that fairy granny DOES have a Beavis-type beard... WTF?

  • @thebunnygirl1010 mega chin

  • At :04 -- AMAZING that the boy can pretend he's chewing gum while spirographing (LOL)! This ad annoyed me at age 11 back in '68, and it still annoys me today. Besides, Spirograph was the first toy to go into the trash after Christmas. I got frustrated with the gear wheel slipping, even with a steady hand on the pen. Ah, such memories..........

  • "Homer, do you really think you should be making donuts while you're driving?"

"Ahh, Marge, that's why I bought it."

  • I could never get the long stick to work right. The pen always pushed the wheel off and screwed the drawing up.

  • @gozapinya I had that same problem then...........and pretty much the same one now!

  • I had both of them. I loved my easy bake oven so much. WIsh I could get one now.

  • I still want another Spirograph! My brother and sister had one ... I want one today! Loved the hell outta it then. Do they still make this?

  • I never had an Easy Bake Oven either! :-( I did love my Spirograph, though!

  • Dear Mom and Dad, why wouldn't you ever get me an easy-bake oven? I grew up so deprived!

  • I had both of these toys!

imagine.... a real easy bake oven today would be outlawed with all the government safety regs.

  • @n2motocross Not true... easy bake ovens are still sold to this day. For a while they went to a heating element inside, but they are back to using a light bulb again, just like the vintage ones. The only real issue they ever had was a particular model that kids would get their finger caught in, resulting in burns and an finger amputation or 2.

  • I still have scars from my easy bake. Excellent preparation for the fact that I would be too much of a renegade to EVER use oven mitts. I still average one injury per meal to this day.

  • Spirograph was great!

  • wow I had those as a kid! Thanks for the flashback!

  • OOO my god this is my Mom and my Uncle!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you I have wanted to see this video for so long!!!!

  • Both well treasured toys from my youth, but what's the deal with the popcorn popper?! *pout* I wasted all that time making silly little cakes when I could have been popping?! Darn my wasted youth!

  • I Love this,

    TinyDancer500!

  • I had both toys as a kid in the 70s. That spirograph I LOVED but MAN, if it slipped and messed up, I'd get so pissed off. Today's version is too chunky and too simple. I still have my EasyBake oven and it's on a shelf in my kitchen. Too bad they are so overly cautious these days... it keeps being recalled etc... jeeze, it's a miracle any of us gen x'ers made it

  • So the girl has to bake and the boy gets to eat it all? NICE

  • That boy looks like Jim Carrey!!! as a kid of course

  • I had a couple of these and I played with them a lot and had forgotten about them..If only I could go back it was a simpler time

  • i had a spirograph wow !! lol but it was in the 1980's

  • I wish I had his glasses!

And the yummy GARBAGE they were cooking. I bet it tasted like CRAP.

  • It probably did but the boy wants to play doctor with her later on.

  • they are brother and sister so I think that doctor was out of the question!!!!

  • Nah I think she's totally the girl next door.

  • No they are really brother and sister its my mom and my uncle

  • lol rly?

  • My mom broke the gear that made the best designs. (I think it was the 3rd smallest)

  • lol, spirograph, i always made holes in the paper
