  • i love all the weapon forms but.. really whos gonna carry around a razor sharp fan in their back pocket or a seven star sword XDDD

  • Does anyone know where i can download the song? thanks!

  • @melxieying no kidding the song is awesome

  • This is the one I'm learning right now! :D

  • I learned it in 2008 with Cao Laohi in China, Hubei, Wuhan. I practice it daily in Brazil and like so much! The song says "China has magic kungfu".

  • we did this at our high school for the talent show it was soo fun, but we used a diff video with faster louder music..has anyone seen it?

  • @Padaleckischick19 Oh yeah i remember!!

  • I love this song for years

  • Does anyone know what form this is?

  • We're still beginners but we've done this already :) This is good for the health, I've lost weight doing Tai Chi. :)

  • I love doing Tai chi :) It's super fun. I have only used a fan 5 times... And It's so much fun!

  • when i went to china i noticed its always this song being used for tai chi

  • What is the name this song please?

  • @belmondo7676 It's not a song..they have someone peeing right next to the camera

  • @belmondo7676

zhongguo gong fu by tu honggang

(中国功夫 is the title in Chinese characters)

  • 整齊划一、乾淨利落、蒼勁有力、腰馬沉穏、這••••••才叫功夫!!!

  • its funny cause i know the straight sword form is different but it really looks like you could replace the fan with a sword and it would totally work. Ah the universality of the tai chi...

  • im a filipino and i saw PBB and the housemates did this routine..for 1 week

  • Great! :) We do this Gongfu Fan form too in our school :)

  • Song is Baggggggggggg ((((((((((((

  • What is the name of the DVD that this is from? I would like to purchase it.

I would like to learn this, however, there are no local studios that teach Tai Chi or any of the fan forms.

  • @PisciLover The name of the DVD is called Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan. Master Faye Yip teaches it. There is also a second part to the fan form (video clips on you tube) You can order the DVD at taichilink.co.uk. Also Master Jesse Tsao has a DVD with this fan form. I have both and like them both very much.

  • This is interesting. This is the first time I've seen Tai Chi used at a speed where you can picture someone using it to defend themselves. I really want to learn because it seems like it would be good for breathing, stamina, agility, balance, flexibility, and more. It is also extremely beautiful to watch. It's a Martial Art that looks like an art form too which is cool. Plus it seems soothing.

  • @Karitwilightmist I started practicing Tai Chi just over 5 weeks ago, thinking it'd be nice to try and nothing else (the cliche 'old people's sport' comes to mind), but I got stuck on it. Now, I'm only 38yrs old, but with a stressfull life, day in day out. Tai Chi really helps me to find peace and quietness in my head after hectic times, and mind you, it's way more difficult than you'd think at first glace. Give it a go, you won't regret it..

  • @Karitwilightmist all martial arts are art forms...just depends on how you're looking at it...

  • I've done this with my yuanji group! Or..I've tried to do it xD

  • Watching this while listening to classic rock and it's oddly suitable lol

  • What's disturbing is how well this works to "Pokerface". O.o

  • lol can't picture that, but that's pretty cool

  • 1 star

  • @dementor338 Why one star? I don't know much about tai chi but it looks good to me, what am I missing that lets them down?

  • I'm studing these tai ji whith a chinese teacher but i don't find the music for training alone in my home... did you can send me the music of a netadress where I can download taiji musics free, I'm looking also aboud the musics off 24 of pekin and 42 of swords... thanks for you answer and very nice vidéo....

    I love it

    Didier

  • lovely, is it just my computer or is the sound quality bad?

  • It's not your computer - it's an older video.

  • I love it very much!! Who knows what song is playing? I would like to find it.

  • wow this is a lot like my routine

  • splendid, I'm listen It at this moment whith a chinese teacher from shangaI and I'll hope to do it as thise performance but I'm not so good ....

    thank

  • its not water efect, just bad audio track.. if you listen closely you can hear song :)

  • i can do tai chi. but my teacher tought me all the way to 2:02 of the video.

  • This a beautiful performance of Tai Chi with fan! The musical background has water sounds which are somewhat irritating. Otherwise beautiful. Each time my Tai Chi teacher Jan Leminsky performs fan Tai Chi in Hamburg, it is a highlight.

  • indeed, it's makes you want to take a leak.

The form is quite nice, and somewhat explosive. In a few weeks we're going to learn this one.

  • É ótimo este vídeo, só lamento que o mesmo não roda direito. No mais tudo ok.

  • That is amazing!

  • Ahhh, very beautiful. Just bought heavenly granddaughter, Chelsea, Tai Chi Fan Dance Kit. Will share this video with her for inspiration.

  • does anyone know where I can find a dvd to learn this form

  • on amazon they sell kits for tai chi fan danceing.

  • I've be more focus on my tai chi sword style. But they are very prefect trained!!!!!

    I like it!!!!

  • Kyoshi`s warriors =)

  • what song are they singing?

  • Zhong Guo Gongfu by Tu Honggang.

  • thanks.. ive been wondering how to get this song..so it would help my form

  • very good

  • OMG! They're the same people on the DVD I have, but I've never seen this before..o_O

  • this is an unstoppable true martial battlefield form, heads would fall off like crazy against these techniques. A true master can kill or decrapitate using a wooden fan.

  • I've been practicing this about a year & half. It's not as easy as it seems, but it's much fun to perform^^ It contains different styles of taichi, sword, spear・・・forms. Thank U 4 uploading.

  • wats da name of that song

  • man i was actually doin this in my Chinese class

  • Wow! Beautiful! Not a simple dance. This is kung fu!

  • This is how chinese exersize...with style!

  • Beautiful

  • haha it sounds like diarhea

  • What's with the sound...!? >_O

  • Oooh! Did I see them add in a little circle walking?

  • the "circle walking" is actually called Bagua.. it teaches us to move in a spiral around our opponent. If you are interested in Bagua..google it or search further on uTube.

  • Actually, it's called xingbu. Bagua is a martial art.

  • check out fan kung fu on

    twmaf.

  • They are very good! i wants to fight with Fans! =D

  • I want to learn how to do this, but of course there is no place around here for me to take a classes. This is beautiful

  • This is not "dancing with a fan", it is tai chi fan form - I'm learning it now. It's the same form that is being performed in the 2008 Beijing Opening Ceremonies!

  • you can tell by their movments that it is thi chi its passive and aggressive

  • Fan is a weapon in Tai Chi, it can be a shield too!

I am learning this form now, and not easy. Everybody need a lot of year traning to hit the level like in the video.

  • Its NOT dancing. It is Taiji and Wushu. If you notice, each section of the form starts with Taiji movement then does the same concept of movements in Kung fu/Wushu format. I learned the form about 5 years ago and loved it (too bad I haven't practiced it much since then...bad me...bad me!). Every aspect of Taiji in in this form, no doubt.

  • anyone know the name of this song?

  • u guys should try this, it feels amazing when ur actualy doing it! :)

  • Yeah it does when i do tai chi it calms me down

  • this is really good. i want to learn one but i have to find a school here.

  • if you live in tulsa oklahoma there are some amazing tai chi schools here

  • On Sundays from 5/11/08 -- 08/24/08 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Dr. Jiliang Liu will be hosting Free T'ai Chi seminars in New York City at Central Park's beautiful Turtle Pond, near the Delacorte Theater, in celebration for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This is a perfect opportunity to learn and practice T'ai Chi with a T'ai Chi master.

For more information visit TCMofNY . com

  • i would love to learn this

  • Watch this!!!

    Really goog "pushing hands".

Is that kind of Tai Chi!!!

    Amazing!!

    "TAONAMICS - Kampfsystem"

  • try shan fk feif ewrikn[2rk fkkf eknfkmdf1

  • Wow, sehr kunstvoll! Wunderschön anzusehen.

  • I learned how to do this rouine for the chinese new year in my school in Nicaragua. really cool video

  • I WISH I could do this style as nice as they have. I'm still a beginner,so I havea ways to go. I hope to work up to that level someday.

  • hpotterroxmysox, screw you and shut up, this is GOOD!

  • this is the coolest form ever, my friends and i are learning it for our school's talent show!

  • OMG! does anyone know which style this is??? looks like yang to me.... i wanna learn this form its so beautiful!

  • I think I'm not wrong if I say it's Chen style. (If I am, sorry ;)

  • It's called Tessenjutsu I think, if thats what your wondering.

  • Tessenjutsu is Japanese Fan. (mostly Iron fans)

This is Tai Chi with a fan, completely different than Tessenjutsu.

  • Thnx! ^_^

  • This is what all do for Festival of NAtions!!!!

  • This is so awesome. I have got to learn how to do it!!

  • what kind of fans do they have?

  • its a wooden fan

  • I MEAN I CAN DO DIS WIT A KNIFE RIGHT?

  • You barbarian...

  • Knife? LOL

A knife isn't as effective as a fan.

  • DOES IT HAVE 2 B A SWIFTA??

  • what style is this sequence, and is it a kata or a dance of some sort.

  • This is Tai Chi Fan. Tai Chi is a slow moving "kata" for internal energy development (and hence health) or seld defense&fighting although it takes many many years to master. THis looks like Yang style to me, although the people performing have a kung fu background as their movements are somewhat stiff. But this is why they perform the form so accurately and with such care. That is the precision of their kung fu training kicking in.

  • this is not chen, chen has explosive moves.

  • i want to learn this form, what is called?

  • i actually learned this form in th coarse of one day ......its not as difficult as it looks it just tkes patience.......i am a fan instructor and have been training with it for about 11 years now

  • I am beginning this form also called tai chi kung fu fan. I had to study the yang 42 form as a prerequisite with my teacher prior to learning this form. It looks very graceful but also very difficult in controlling the opening and closing of the fan quickly.

  • It's so graceful.

  • so beautiful

  • Thanks a lot lydiajen I got your comment, it seems very interresting, I'm going to try it right now!!

  • Hello can someone tell me the name of this form? I would realy like learning it!!!

  • To me, it looks like an adaptation of Wudang Sword but for the fan instead, and more simplified. However, someone earlier up in the comments says it's Chen Style. Personally, I only know Wu Style and it's certainly not that.

  • Thanks a lot for your answer. In my opinion, I also think it's chen because it goes slow and fast alternatively. But in the comments, I read something about a 18 movement form, but I can't find anything on the net about a 18 movement form with fan!!!Have a nice day!

  • this is a show and beautiful dance

  • I have to learn this form for the demo team.

  • wuaw sorprendente realmente me encanto!!

  • I´m a Tai Chi Fan, too! :-)

Just kidding... I like the grace of the moves combined with the knowledge that it´s actually an old martial art. Far better than any western sport.

  • I can see why it's one of this users favorites now. I'd like to practice it too.

  • I want to learn tai chi because i think it looks relaxing. I have a temper of about...this much *makes fingers about an inch apart*. I need to relax. I looks *so* cool!!!

    X-D

  • please can someone say me the name of the song? I need it for an schoolwork for P.E. please say me! Thanks!!

  • Do you have a teaching video or DVD of these forms? If so where can I purchase one?

  • i want to learn tai chi because its very relaxing calm and useful

  • Chan Shan Feng - The father of Tai Chi Chuan.. orgn from CHINA..

  • sukoi is this japanese or chinese?

  • Very artistic. I assume it is a Chinese Video. Question is the video available commerically and if so from where?

  • wow this is the video i used when training. lol

  • this was nice dancing but showed no inner chi or understanding of the fan as a weapon.

  • I'm a tai chi student...

and that's what you'll think of in your first class.

Believe me, tai chi has lots of use in life.

Unfortunately, it'll take years to master it.

  • only 1 or 2 if you have an experienced teacher

  • trés beau

  • super, goed voor de rust.

  • Graceful, beautiful, yet dangerous.

  • Hey! Some of those postures are actually techniques that would work with a steel fan! I was expecting total fluffiness, but there were a few moments that looked good.

  • looks real nice...smooth n beautiful

  • That same move at 1:17, 1:37, and 2:19 is quite possibly one of the coolest looking moves ever.

  • I know. O__O

    So fancy.

I don't know much about these arts, but I can appreciate the beauty.

  • How many forms are there? in my tai chi class (been attending 3 weeks, 3 times a week so far, we do 24 forms and applications of those forms in fighting but i didnt know there was so many!)

  • I must admit that the running water sound is somewhat of a distraction, too much to the fore, but there is so much poise, grace, strength of movement, and the sudden injection of speed that I found this display wonderful to watch. Thank you.

  • the water sound actually is not water, is a consequence of the video format. The same happened to me when I uploaded the same video in MPG format, I changed it to AVI, and the sound got much better. Check the file I uploaded.

  • I assume you had an original of the CD so that you could upload it to your computer to make the format changes. if so where did you obtain the original of the CD from and what is the title of the CD.

  • Sorry, I don't have the original, I got a copy from other source. I'm also looking for the original too.

  • absolutely graceful and beautiful, what great flexibility and concentration, I would love to learn this type of tai chi.

  • th th th th thhh thhh tai ii chi !

  • hehe...the running water sound is just very bad 'digitizing' of the music in the video...probably orignally recorded in analog format...tai chi though, i agree is very interesting, especially what it does for the body/mind & soul

  • It sounds like it might have been compressed by some really obscure codec before uploading, and the YouTube converter wasn't quite sure how to handle it - I've had that effect happen with older MP3 players that play other forms of compressed audio. Only much louder, and right in my ears... >_<

  • CrystleKuri, in the Chinnese myth world, there are 5 different main elements. Fire, water, air, wood, and lightning. Resepectively, there are five different major styles that are sync with each element. Tai-chi is grouped with water. ITs movements are used for concentration and free formed "attacks" if you will. The water moves easily and free, just like tai-chi. Tai-chi is rumored to be the most versitle of all the styles. Hence, water.

  • i did tai chi for nine months, and i can say that the effect physically and mentally was amazing.

the movements are all real fighting techniques, when doen slowly like this they increase your concentration, stamina and reflexes.

you becom incredibly relaxed and alert, everything you do in life becomes hightend.

anyone out there who says its crap, go and try it before u make judgements, on things you nothing about.

  • i love this form, without a doubt, and i think it's amazing.. but WHY is there the constant sound of running water as the background music??? makes me want to pee ;_;

  • Just to inform the friends of martial arts. The fan is a weapon, believe me. In ancient china they were not allowed to wear weapons at the kings palace but to have fans. With ironmade and sharp sticks inside the fan will cut youre head off like a sword. All taiji movements are slowly done fighting movements. Most of the martial arts heroes performed taiji to improve their art and style of fighting.

  • Well done! Good timing on the moves.

  • Excellent! I don't know this form but I'll learn.

  • uhhh this is dumb, wheres the kick ass fighting and twirls in the air, i thought karae was suppossed to be about kicking th other persons ass this is a dance, the opponent would just laugh at you if you just tried this ont them.

  • this isn't karate :)

  • cornchucker20

    > uhhh this is dumb, wheres the kick ass fighting and

    > twirls in the air,... the opponent would just laugh

Done fast, it's a fighting technique, just like other martial arts. The fan is a weapon. Closed, it can stab and deflect other weapons. Opened, it can deflect and be a shield. And the upper fan edge is a blade (think paper cut). FitTV had a piece about this. In the past, peasants were banned from carrying weapons so they improvised.

  • cornchucker20

    > uhhh this is dumb, wheres the kick ass fighting and

    > twirls in the air,... the opponent would just laugh

Imagine the fan tip reinforced with sharp metal for stabbing. Or the fan's paper edge lined with metal blades. Once opened taut, it becomes a massive blade that can slash a person's neck (it doesn't take much to cut the carotid artery). I've heard that it can also be thrown like a frisbee when locked open.

  • cornchucker20

Karate is Japanese. Tai Chi and Kung Fu are Chinese. This is not karate.

    > the opponent would just laugh at you if you just

    > tried this ont them.

At least that would distract him/her enough to let you run! :)

  • mmmm... this is not karate that u are right whit but karate komer taihwan or the same place ass in karate kid i got green belt in karate our sensei said it 3rd dan

  • i mean karate comes from thaiwan under the war so poeple the soldiers and children could protect themselves..

  • I know this form but I practise the first and second only (soon the others ^^)

  • the water squishing serving as percussions is quite something.

  • Tai chi is martial arts

  • this isn't a dance. It's a martial art called Tai chi, chen style, fan 18 form.

  • I am an master of Chen Tai chi this is chen

  • i know this form! its really great!

  • do you know were i could learn this dance in the UK (west midlands)?

  • yer wot is this dance called?

  • Really beautiful form! Does anyone happen to know what it is called? "Tai Chi Fan" seems to cover a pretty wide rage of styles and only this one appealed to me. I am looking for this form to learn it... but I could do with a more specific name. Any idea?

  • I am learning this fan dance recently, so I knew the name of song which is Chinese GUN FU.

  • cool.. i played let the bodies hit the floor in the background.. lifted the mood a bit :P

  • what form is this it looks like a good form to learn

  • well its a good performance but for me taichi is a slower then it

  • Would anyone happen to know the name of the song they are performing the form to?

  • the water sound stimulates my diuresis! :)

  • tai chi incorporates movements from other forms and styles, and is sometimes slow to strengthen and train the body as well as to hide a potentially deadly artform.Replace the fan with a stick or knife, or nothing, and tighten the stances, and you can see

    secrets within the discipline.

  • Great!

  • The music was made strictly for the form :D They are doing the form right :D

  • superb

  • i think that they are not following the same rhythm throughout the form because they are followng the rhythm of the music

  • I think I was staring at the girl in the middle f
