  • Pat is by far the best female rock performer. The stuff that passes for rock music today is missing the elusive quality that Pat so effortlessly and naturally projected on stage.

Even though I am a year older than her, I have just recently discovered the unique quality in Pat's music and performance style. There was a lot of other things going on in my life during the 80's that put my focus elsewhere..but now, I have come to appreciate Pat for who she is..Simply put....the Queen of Rock!!

  • this is a great recording x

  • neil is underrated, but let his wife belt it already

  • i was there

  • what happend to the hard rock???? wheres myron grombacher or roger capps...... sigh

  • Pat Benetar's voice has a lot of depth. Very expressive. I wasn't much of a fan until I saw her peform at Rockford. She has a lot of talent. I would like to see her team up with Bob Dylan. Those two would be quite a duo.

  • I proposed to my wife during this song at the 2:20 mark in the song. She was completely taken by surprise, caught off guard. The ring sparkled in the lights, and Pat Benetar'svoice lifted us off this earth and took us to uncharted planets of unknown origin.

  • Also it was funny, alot of people held up lighters (like at most concerts) but at this one some had Cell Phones, Glow Sticks.....And one person had a Teddy Bear! lol :P And they got on the screen and made their Teddy wave lol, cute :P

  • I WAS THERE WOOO!!! That was a awesome concert, my first too :D She's awesome :) And...um...what the heck is with tilting the camera sideways? lmao *shakes head* oh well :P

  • i'd love to hear her record something with sarah mclachlan.

  • we live for love and Pat's beautiful voice

  • What happened to the second half of the video to this great song, Pat's best imo?

  • oops, this was supposed to be posted under the '70s video of this song, which unfortunately ends halfway thru.

  • Well Hello Pat...how good is her voice still?? I had a lot of schoolboy fantasies about this woman as a lad. Loved her and her tunes. Great to see this. Good to see she is still with Neil

  • We were at this concert, It was in Rockford, Ill... and sat 2nd row... Never have a been more amazed! She was unbelievable from the 1st song, to the last! And she looked awesome!!!

  • I recognize the palm trees on the stage.....Less she used em elsewhere, this concert was in Pomona CA....I know cause I was there lol :P

  • I don't think so!

This was in Illinois, Rockford, I think...we saw her in Bloomington the night before. I remember this date because my husband surprised me with this ticket. It was the first concert we went to together.

  • k....But did you need to tell me basically the same thing three times? lol... And ok, but she was there with him? I'm only asking because I know she was at a Fair here with him and those Palm Tree's, even if it wasn't the same night, I'm not imagining things lol...And seeing her was my first concert.

  • i like this version better than the original. it's great that their songs can evolve into something unexpected.

  • he wrote this about her x

  • great version x

  • you Americans (and probably Canadians) are so lucky..Last time Mellencamp was overhere in Europe is about 15 yrs ago,now as for Pat Benatar..I have been waiting for ages for her to cross the ocean :(

  • To those that commented about her singing, i was at this concert, it was in Oroville California at Feather Falls Casino, i worked at the casino for a couple years, and this is still the greatest concert i have EVER been to, and trust me, Pat Benetar dont hold nothing back in her concerts, to this day she is still the queen of rock, that will never change

  • She needs to record an accoustic CD. I've seen her live twice and am waiting to go back a 3rd time. She's amazing

  • jtheroux, "Negative comment, a desperate attemp to appear relevant when one has nothing else to offer."

and no, their acoustic stuff is not a "desperate attempt to cash in." a lot of their fans, myself included, enjoy their acoustic arrangements. In case you haven't noticed, they don't sell millions of records anymore. they tour and record because they love to do so, not for the millions of dollars they're not making.

  • Saw her a few years ago..she did an acoustic version of "love is a battlefield",saying "after 20+ years of doing same music,ya gotta change it up alittle!"..it's cool to hear different arrangements, keeps it fresh!...and she's a fellow "lawn guylandah"!

  • I remember when this song first came out in '80. I was in junior high and just fell in love with this song back then. Man, it brings back memories of that summer. First time I've heard the acoustic version- LOVE IT! Made me start looking for tickets for their upcoming shows.

  • Awesome! Rock on Pat!

  • The woman has THE Best "Pipes" in tne business. She has never gotten the respect she deserves ...hopefully one day soon, she will.

  • she got plenty of respect when she was at the height of her career, or rather, when she was selling millions of records. Four grammys ain't too shabby...She is still highly respected. Nobody has ever said she can't sing. As far as the show they still put on, yeah I don't think enough people are aware how good they are live these days. i think they do better live shows now than when they were filling arenas!

  • Don't get me wrong...i am a HUGE fan, I've lost count how many times I've seen her in concert. I just wish the "Industry"... MTV,American Idol,The Grammys(she's had recordings that were eligible and ignored throughout the 1990's!)The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc... would recognize her influence through the years.Just a fan wishing more for their Favorite, not a criticism at all!

  • i didn't thik you were criticizing (and so what if you were, free country, right?). And yeah, I am definitely disappointed about the r n r hall of fame thing. That's a no-brainer to me.

  • I like this version better, because when she sings with Neil its very...magical.

  • That's very interesting - she can obviously still get the note in the chorus, and seems to do it pretty easy, but she chooses to sing it down low & more "singalong" for the rest of the song. I wonder why?

  • maybe to save her voice for the rest of the show? she has a lot of tough songs to sing!

  • the high notes are there! this song is so powerful live. i shed a tear when she hit the high note! saw this live with some friends that had not seen her live. they were all BLOWN away! go see her this summer, you won't be sorry! AMAZING! we live for love!

  • this is why i hate people at concerts shut th hell up and enjoy the performance you A.D. D. jerks

  • This is the acoustic version if any doubters havent noticed! i wish someone would upload her singing the rock version from the 2001 summer tour of this song. cant hit the notes! get serious!!!

  • If anyone knows how to preserve their voice, it is Ms. Benatar, originally trained classically as an opera singer. Bet she warms up AND cools down after each performance. Anyone know what type of mic she prefers?

  • she still hits it as high as the studio recording in the first chorus of this version. I've seen her four times and she has never strained to hit a note. I think she likes to change it up since she's been playing this song for almost thirty years.

  • I suspect she can no longer reach the note that the chorus is supposed to be in. I would have LOVED to see that live.

  • i suspsect she can hit any note she wants.

  • Perhaps. She is pushing 55 though, and people's voices do change as they age. Regardless, she still has one of the most amazing voices today, young or old.

  • i agree she can kick ass today;ask martina mcbride

  • I saw her the day before that!! OMG she was so freakin amazing.

  • Just saw them perform this version on Sat Mar 17th in Niagara Falls, NY. Great stuff! I, too, wish it was avaialble on CD...

  • I wish this version was released on CD

  • Pat Benatar looks amazing! Beautiful voice and still she rocks!

  • I saw her on the 29th of sept on this tour, and the way they did this song brought tears to my eyes...I love it.. Pat Benatar is my GOD

  • Little "g" understandable; big "G" incomprehensible. Wow--you need to get out more. Oh and when you do, take a look at the stars. Ms. Benatar, as great as she is, can't make even one of those.

  • This is the first time I have heard this - it is pretty amazing song. This version is completely hot.

  • I saw Pat and Neil in Vegas on 9/15 and left in awe at how great the show was. This was the second time I've seen her perform, the first being as an opening act for STYX back in the mid-90's (before the band screwed up and tossed out Dennis DeYoung). She was awesome then and can still outperform most of today's musical acts. Thanks for posting this great video!

  • WOW! Those amazingly crystal clear high notes at the very beginning! Played today on radio, it be a hit-agian! I was fortunate to be able to meet Pat backstage on June 29, 2006 & asked her directly if she would consider re-recording this song this way. She said they were. Peace to all!

  • Great vid. This was one of the highlights of the 2006 tour for sure. Thank You a hundred times!

  • Great. I remember the original of this when it came out!

  • I flew from Europe to see her in Chicago. When they anounced that they were going to do an unplugged version of "We live for love" I was dissapointed, since I love the hard edge of that one. They proved me wrong, and I LOVED IT. She should put that on a cd RIGHT AWAY

  • Amazing.. i was standing. but it doesnt matter it was the best concert id ever been to! amazing!

    MLE

  • Thank you, thank you, for posting this video!! I didn't get to see Pat & Neil this summer. I will NEVER let that happen again!! Pat is beyond describing. . . truly one of kind!

  • i was there sec b row 3 seat 7

    she was amazing

    my all time favorite artist

  • LOVE IT! My favorite song this tour. Thanks so much for posting this. Pat still ROCKS!

  • Awesome...She looks great!!!
