  • Grande dame de la musique

  • Wow the lady can still stop my hearth

    Ty lady

  • Such a beautiful song still. Play this loud, goosebumps happen. So, so beautiful.

  • @TomPilch oh yeah

  • This the song they will play at my service! Along with "Green Day" "Hope you had the Time of your life!"

  • I kept myself away from knowledge of her personal life, and that was on purpose. I listened to this song a hundred times and wondered who Michael was. I've since learned her reference, but my understanding of Maureen and George the Wipe keeps me fascinated. Its all personal. Understand that for why its all soo good!

  • skoda ze neviem anglicky, ale ten hlas a kompozicia nema chybu.

  • to my granny ..! love you juliette ..! i miss you so much...i was listening that in headphone in the car going to your last home ... mamie " ju " i was thinking that it was so ..you si douce pleine de bonté ma mamie que j'aime je me suis caché derrère cette chanson si douce comme toi ...

    It can really hurt

    And these moments given

    Are a gift from time

    Just let us try

    To give these moments back

    To those we love

To those who will survive ...

  • 27 people lost their socks in the dryer.

  • .i sometimes wear new socks with my old shoes and v.v. i like to break out of convention every now and again.

  • this looks exactly like a dream i had once.

  • All Kate's songs should be called 'A Moment of Pleasure'. Kate, you are insanely wonderful. Thank you for being you.

  • Almost 700,000 views. Not good enough.27 dislikes have put on the wrong socks in the wrong shoes.

  • this song is a dream

  • I love you Kate

  • Ace Kate Ace.

  • Maybe my favourite kate song.I don't know. It's hard to choose from.Or maybe my favourite kate video.Funny that as she gets older she more gorgeous she becomes.I will always love her.Cheers

  • My God woman, i'd love to just have one fraction of your talent/genius. Your songs can make me sob and heal. Truly a life that meant something.

  • stop and enjoy this moment, my friend, for sure, you will never have it AGAIN.

  • I love this, one of my favouritesx

  • She wrote this song in 1993 after losing her mum and a close friend of her's who died 3 years earlier, I cry everytime I hear this 'cause of the fact I had a tough year and that it helped me deal with it.

  • @LeahJane1995

I heard her in a radio interview recently saying that the phrase 'every old sock meets an old shoe' was one that her mom used regulary as she was growing up, and she wrote the song before her mom died because when her mom heard it she couldn't stop laughing that she'd put it in a song.

  • i think it says be kind to the people you love, and be patient with the people you don't.

  • wow she must be really dizzy

  • Just being alive, it can really hurt

These moments given are a gift from time

    Ain't it the truth.

  • I wish they had done a better music video than this twirly nonsense

  • Did anyone else think she was sitting on an office chair? LOL (:

  • Comment removed

  • I defy anyone besides Kate Bush to write such a beautiful song and get away with the words "old sock" in the lyrics.

  • un ocean de bonheur .

  • The greatest song ever written. Easily.

  • yeah the strings are so so good

  • @skeatesy1

Yeah, & doesn't your wonderful book of revaltions talk about burning gay people in a "pit of fire?"

Keep you religious mumbo jumbo to yourself!

  • I love the climatic highs and lows of this song. Very sensual.

  • Soooooooooooo many good memories are attached to this song!!!!!!

  • I feel dizzy

  • My god she is amazing!

  • great album and great song.........

  • Does anyone else think it would be funny if she spun out of the lou or through a supermarket?

  • Everything about this song & performance hits me hard in a happy yet melancholic way. Genius <3

  • Everything about this song & performance hits me hard in a happy yet melancholic way. Genius <3

  • timeless and zero default song

  • This one, and Eat The Music are my favorites from the album.

  • If i had to pick a favourite Kate Bush song at gunpoint............I would probably pick this one ........so beautiful ......so many great moments.... sends a tingle down my back......we love you Kate

  • Doesnt she get dizzy ?

  • embarrassed to say i forgot about this song. what a Kate Bush classic!

  • Gosto de ouvir esta voz maviosa!!! Que talento...todas as gerações deveriam saber da existência desta voz linda!!!

  • One of the few good songs of the 'The Red Shoes " album. Beautiful melody and orchestration but maybe a little too "melodramatic" and "heavy"

  • @99Matthias99 Probably wise to remember to add the words "in my opinion" to your posts.

  • @99Matthias99 Heavy? You have to be quite a wimp to consider this too heavy. But yeah it has alot of power.

  • Just 'Beautiful Kate Bush' would do.

  • @HigherPoker

haha that's the effect it causes on every fan

you should try the Director's Cut version as well, it's amazing!

  • When this song plays on my pc, I listen to it at least 3 or 4 times in a row.. I can't help it!

  • What album is this from?

  • @RevStaplehurst The Red Shoes. She re-did it for her new album, Director's Cut, earlier this year. The new version is a bit slower, and leaves out the chorus, but it is still absolutely fantastic.

  • I love this video, i wouldn't want to waste another minute looking at the MTV . Bravo !

  • Kate Bush and Linda Ronstadt are two my all time favourite female singers. This song is sheer beauty.Good to hear when having a bad day with a few drinks.Cheers

  • only recently heard this song (shame on me) after hearing the director's cut version - confirms Kate Bush as one of my favorite musical artists - beautiful poetry in the lyrics and music - simply wonderful

  • Beautiful song!

  • Wow!

  • How can you improve on this! Just being alive...it can really hurt, Dione!

  • @Toops144 so take a minute and write something up on Wiki regarding his contribution. after all that is what Wiki is all about .... and credit where credit is due is a great thing!

  • @peoniesfleur that would be because this song is all about all the people she's lost. literally. it's her mourning song, and The Red Shoes is her break-up album as well. beautiful and poignant.

  • I meant 'dreadful' of course. Shocking. Still love the track.

  • Dreadul video, but perhaps my favourite Kate Bush track. It makes me tear up every time. I love it so much.

  • @robsam68 that's because technically it's not a music clip. it's an excerpt from the movie 'The Line, The Cross and the Curve', which is her version of 'The Red Shoes'. Half of the album features in the movie.

  • Relevant comment on the song anyone?

  • "just read and you will see exactly what I am talking about."

I wouldn't even bother doing that. Just take it that the woman is a nusiance & feels the best way to get people to like her & her "music" is to slag of an established talent & be generally obnoxious to people until they massage her massive ego & tell her she is up there with Kate & Janice Joplin!

The only "star" she can be compared to is Lady Ga Ga when talking about her mental condition!

  • Maravilhosa e talentosa Kate bush te amo.

    Linda canção.

  • Beautiful song!

  • @vishiquals oh i am so pleased you agree, well at least you are aware of your delusions, this is very positive for you, especially in terms of accepting you will never be a success in music. For You?? you missed your true vocation, should have been a comedian. your voice is fantastic for comedy roles, its just awful, sounds like you caught your breasts in the spin dryer. you certainly have a talent for making people laugh.

  • What a wonderful person and song

  • @vishiquals hahahahhahahahaha.....................................hahahahahahahahah.I've listened to your stuff. its a joke right?? hahahahahahahahahahahahah ya delusional!

  • @Toops144 I agree entirely. Kamen was a genius (as anybody who's listened to the soundtrack to Highlander or listened to the work he did with Pink Floyd or any other number of top acts). He was sadly lost to us too early. Kate only works with the best musicians, and Kamen was just that.

  • "These moments given are a gift from time .... "

Kate Bush. No more to say.

  • She looks great in this. I prefer her with the near black hair to the reddish auburn rinsed hair that she had before this.

  • Listened to this after hearing Kate Bush's 2011 remake of this song for "Director's Cut." I think it surpasses the original, however I still prefer the original version of "This Woman's Work." I wonder if it depends on which one you hear first?

  • amazing voice!

  • Absolutely amazing performer.... an artist that brings me back to earth.

  • She has such a beautiful voice!

  • i just love she and she music

    perferct

  • Toyah Wilcox said when this song came on the radio as she was driving, she was so touched that she crashed her car.

  • Kate Bush is a goddess! This song is just so incredibly beautiful.

  • Pretentious twaddle anyone? Why not simply say that this is a wonderful song by a groundbreaking artist (which it assuredly is!!)

  • @berlinmitte10117 Not when she's indebted to someone for this performance that isn't generally acknowledged by the general populace; namely Kamen The U.S had a great hand in creating this piece.

  • @SuperCriticalstrike Er.... I think you missed my point, but hey, nevermind, good for you on having a try anyway!

  • @berlinmitte10117 Sauerkrauts for you I guess; acting all ignorant and never admitting defeat *sigh*. Here have a pat from Uncle Sam!

  • "...Just being alive; it can really hurt...." this a painful song to listen to, it is so affecting.

  • This video makes me cry !

  • @MySensualWorld You should google the meaning of the lyrics someday.

  • Be careful with me - that's the message i receive from Ms. Bush and her work.

Style of a kalediscope that won't every share the crystalline version of what

her eyes must see... Thank You for that Kate and Beth....

I 'd like to remember the message as These Gifts from Time are a moments of.... Pleasure. I can not ever forget the smile and pain, and I am tired of the Gain/Pain ratios. Hauntingly family in it's scope - the video shall always endure .... Hey Michael.... :)

  • Superb song and superb string arrangement.

  • Midsommer nights eve tonight, the sky is cyan blue and I can´t fall to sleep, the light is to bright..so what do do but listen to kate bush and here voice...It hits me crude like a knife right in the spine, my skin hair get´s the goose bumps, and thou the that voice cuts like knife, It´s odd..a warm feeling shoots like electrons through the body reaching something I believe is my soul (thou Im an ateist)

the most soulful female voice in the world, moments of pleasure indeed, i can sleep now:)

  • So talented....... epic proportions

  • 'Every old sock meets an old shoe'. And it's true.

  • @vishiquals..No matter what ive said to you, i wish you good luck in all you do.

  • twirling happiness

  • twirling happiness

  • @vishiquals..P.s why keep your much better songs to yourself & just upload your poor ones on Youtube? Doesnt make sense to me, unless somebody is telling fibs of course?!

  • @vishiquals..I didnt insult your voice & say it was weak,i said your music was weak, of little substance or originality & is very out-dated. & of course the music industry has talent, theres lots of good artists about, youre just not one of them so stop being bitter.Ive a big-mouth? why, because i laugh at your claim to being more talented than Kate Bush. The only thing you have said correctly so far is that i cant sing, youre right but that doesnt mean i dont know good music, whatever its genre.

  • @vishiquals.. You say i am the one who is full of myself & needs to get over it?? Thanks for the giggle.

  • Vishiquals..I listened to your music, its weak & very, very out-dated. There was no originality or substance to what i heard. You have no star quality & your statements that youre more talented than Kate Bush makes me believe you must be delusional. I understand 'belief is everything' but you need to be realistic to stay grounded.

  • in a perfect world vishiquals videos would be getting spammed up by a deranged Kate Bush hopped up on cough syrup and festering goat semen smoothies.

Ah the terrible ironies of life.

  • As a musician, I can tell you that the worst musicians in the world are the ones that talk shit about other musicians. Why? Because instead of spending their time honing their craft, they are wasting it talking shit about other musicians. Meanwhile, those musicians that they like to criticize are busting their asses making good music.

  • @MusicalVickyGirl1902

who said something bad about kate?

  • @LailaBecef lol there is this random chic that has been posting stupid comments for weeks. Just look at the comments below and you'll see. I am still amazed that she is posting venom on this video. I don't get it. What ever happened to having a life? Anyways, just read and you will see exactly what I am talking about. Have a nice day. :)

  • @MusicalVickyGirl1902

thanks! as long as I hear Kate's music everything is cool :)

have a nice day too :) Kate Forever!

  • @vishiquals maybe you should get a life? You have commented on most Kate Bush vids. We all know that your music blows away everyone else on the planet and we were so impressed with all that your doing that we would all like you to - you know - shut up maybe? Thanks for acting like a 4 year old whose friend has a better ice-cream x all your jealousy just highlights the awesome-ness that is Kate Bush x

  • Kate bush linda maravilhosa talentosa uma das melhores cantoras do mundo...

Te amo muito kate bush, suas músicas são todas lindas, sou seu fã número 1.

    Love,love,love,love kate bush.

  • @vishiquals Sounds like jealousy, you will never have a grain of talent that she has.

  • @vishiquals Ive heard your music, its boring crap.

  • @vishiquals That you are even comparing Kate Bush to Pink Floyd shows how very little you know.

  • @recoveringcatholics That is indeed a lovely story. I always thought it was a choreographed part of the video as to me, these spinning figures represent those dear to one in life but who have passed on, such is the fleeting nature of life and the people we meet along the way.

This is a tragedy as even now he would be far far too young to pass away, but this is one heck of a way to be immortalised as the song is some of her very best work with a touchingly simple video

  • @vishiquals Your opinion not mine.Like i say back it up ,do what Kate did.She wrote songs when she was 13 and had to graft to make it to the top.Theres no free ride.

  • @vishiquals Thats a big thing to say ,back it up.

  • @recoveringcatholics I'm so sorry. I can't quite see - was Chris one of the dancers in the 'Them Heavy People' video? That is one of my favourite things of all time, so charming. Or maybe he was on the TV special?

  • Kate is still singing open your eyes!

  • @recoveringcatholics Is this dancer no longer with us? He is so young. I am sorry to hear that, or do you mean this dancer represents someone else you have lost? sorry to hear either way

  • @recoveringcatholics Its good that others can see him in this video,a great tribute.

  • Wow

  • how amazing is this! Sublime again from our Kate!

  • This song and Kate...

    Just perfect!!!

  • @mostlyanthony In other words good music is a minority interest.

  • This is my favourite Kate Bush song.

  • It took a while for me to get to this song............quite brilliant, emotional stuff.

  • enjoying the directors cut but you cant improve on this song - it was perfect the first time !!!

  • I'm actually fed up of seeing comments on every music video about the same thing, about new music being crap and talentless. There IS good music still out there, you just have to dig deeper to find it. Be more open minded people!

  • this makes me cry, why?

  • @dfcvda because it's beautiful.

  • @101skylark thanks and yes, it is.

  • Lying, George the Wise ( George W ) we sit up al night talking about it, the Buildings of NY, snow

Could she be Cryptically be talking about 9/11, anyway great song

  • @kroikye The song came out in 1993.

  • check out her reprise of this amazing piece of work ,moments of pleasure ..the director`s cut 2011...just released ...its weightier, darker, with added poignancy perhaps ...but only because of the original...its knowing the original that makes it so powerful..she has done the same with this womans work...musical heavyweight..she is in a class of her own

  • Amazing song.Loved it since the Red Shoe album.

  • wow, i only heard the re-record, and I did not know it was this song xd now i heard this and remember how i loved this song when i was a little child, thanks to my parents who made me listen to wonderful music and gave me the talent to hear what real music is.

  • Lyrically, musically and emotionally one of the the best pieces ever recorded by anyone.

  • I am just curious, what would people think if say Paul McCartney re-did Yesterday, or Paul Weller re-doing Going Underground, or Paul Simon re-doing Miss Robinson or ABBA re-doing Dancing Queen..etc....

  • @JRGrange25 Paul McCartney did re-record Yesterday for the soundtrack to his 1984 film "Give My Regards To Broad Street"

  • @seanokeogh1988 Oh yeah I agree, but he more covered it, not re-developed it.

  • @JRGrange25 You have a point, but I'll still attempt to listen to Director's Cut with an open mind, hopefully it'll be a decent cohesive work without ruining my impression of the original tracks. I'd honestly be skeptical if she was remaking The Dreaming though!

  • @nasalscarecrow Oh totally I mean ill listen to it, but I am not one for re-visting old songs, the original was perfect, how could she improve it? I always feel song writing and song craftsmanship are about your emotions, feelings and way of thinking at the time you wrote the song, which changes as the years go on.

  • @JRGrange25 Although I largely agree, I hugely prefer the new Rubberband Girl. ;)

  • @nasalscarecrow Directors cut is incredible. I do not know how anyone could enjoy the new rubberband girl though. One I hate that "king of the mountain mumbling" don't know why she has repeated that .

  • @dirkworld Totally agree with you, I hate the mumbling on the new Rubberband Girl. Sounds like she's drunk or something

  • I also heard the new version on the radio. I still love the original, but I love the newer version a bit more.

  • Je t'aime Kate !!!!!!!!!!!

  • After listening to a large excerpt of the new version on the radio, I must say that I prefer this version. I know I haven't heard the new version in full, but this version certainly isn't depressing. To the posters below, I love Rush and agree that Time stand still is amazing.

  • I love it yes I do

  • I am still in love with Kate after all these years........ how true love lasts

  • i don't get it, she's just weird

  • @raccoonpoet No, she's a genius!

  • This is great. The "just be alive" part reminds me of tori amos's "silent all these years". Obviously tori borrows a lot from kate, and has admitted it. Anyway. These songs are so..vivid. They kind of make me picture certain images and lives i've never led in my mind.

  • she just manages to open up floodgates in my heart..30 yrs now..

  • I find myself singing this song, when I feel all melancholy... love it :)

  • my heart my soul....kate u are godXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • i am crying for you ktmggg A Coral Room and An Archtechts Dream also do it for me for the same reasons ...I think ;-( xo

  • Beautiful. I've no words.

  • Cant wait for the new album this year woop woop .

  • @whirlygirly36

I didn't know Kate had a new album coming out this year. Thanks for the heads up. Woop Woop !

  • @4Gonq I believe its some remakes of the old ones, not 100% sure, think its May time .

  • 'omg. can anyone able to make anything better then this?!

    i dont think so
