Listened to this after hearing Kate Bush's 2011 remake of this song for "Director's Cut." I think it surpasses the original, however I still prefer the original version of "This Woman's Work." I wonder if it depends on which one you hear first?

After listening to a large excerpt of the new version on the radio, I must say that I prefer this version. I know I haven't heard the new version in full, but this version certainly isn't depressing. To the posters below, I love Rush and agree that Time stand still is amazing.
This is great. The "just be alive" part reminds me of tori amos's "silent all these years". Obviously tori borrows a lot from kate, and has admitted it. Anyway. These songs are so..vivid. They kind of make me picture certain images and lives i've never led in my mind.

@recoveringcatholics That is indeed a lovely story. I always thought it was a choreographed part of the video as to me, these spinning figures represent those dear to one in life but who have passed on, such is the fleeting nature of life and the people we meet along the way.
This is a tragedy as even now he would be far far too young to pass away, but this is one heck of a way to be immortalised as the song is some of her very best work with a touchingly simple video

After listening to a large excerpt of the new version on the radio, I must say that I prefer this version. I know I haven't heard the new version in full, but this version certainly isn't depressing. To the posters below, I love Rush and agree that Time stand still is amazing.

This is great. The "just be alive" part reminds me of tori amos's "silent all these years". Obviously tori borrows a lot from kate, and has admitted it. Anyway. These songs are so..vivid. They kind of make me picture certain images and lives i've never led in my mind.
