  • 1:08 the space ships of the imagination

  • i got really far with the French and then the game lagged out :( so i didnt get to launch my space ship

  • very nice ending

and that flower in the end symbolizes true intension of nature

    to colonize space

and we , hummans are the messagers of nature

we will colonize space and spread life everywhere

  • 6 people's space ships blew up after lift off

  • Wait!!!

    Take me with you!

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful,As many here did I too cried when I finally achieved it,Civ3 forever!.

  • there is still an amazing game movie even compare with the games these days

  • AND THEN THEY WERE EATEN BY MINDWORMS

    Great ending :D

  • I always go for the domination or conquest victory as it is more interesting, but the first time I went for the space race victory I led a small outsider Japan mostly locked on 1 rather small island and I didn't feel like quitting. I lagged behind in research up until the end (although I closed the gap near the end) and NARROWLY and I do mean NARROWLY beat a far superior civilization to space victory. And then I saw this footage for the first time. I almost cried - best endgame ever :)

  • greates game ever!!!!AHA memoires:D but i never send man in to spacey . Fuck now i need to install this once againe:D Damn you Kizo!!!:D

  • greatest game ive ever played..

  • I've seen this video dozens of times and I just realized the symbolism with the dandelion... I almost burst into tears.

  • Alpha Centuari is and always will be a better game, Brian Reynolds is a better designer, too bad he makes shit for facebook now.

  • 6 people lost the space race

  • apolo 11!

  • I still think this pales in comparison to the Alpha Centauri Scientific Victory, but it's still pretty good.

  • What was that helicopter doing so near the space ship with 15 seconds to go!?

  • whats the quickest way to do this?

  • yeah i built it. is it because im over 2050 because my made that project after that year

  • @Darkninja0214 Oh yeah, i forget that..

  • Im having trouble launching the spaceship. I have all the materials built for the ship and it wont let me launch it. Any suggestions?

  • @Darkninja0214 You nedd to have the Apollo Project, have you built it?

  • Oh god I haven't even played this game, and... this is amazing. This is incredibly beautiful.

  • 6 people was left behind.

  • i think sid meier's alpha centauri is sequal to all civ games .

  • @unfetteredfreak

sid meiers alpha centauri is what happens after the civ 3 space race victory

  • @RedFoxLord thats right

  • Space. The final frontier.

  • Civ 3 was the best!

  • Blowing dandelions will never be the same again...

  • Its.... Its..... beautiful. This ending bring tears to my eyes =,)

  • Reminds me of Starship Trooper by Yes...

  • Hey brilliant. Tonight was my first space race victory but accidently skipped that beautiful cut scene. Youtube to the rescue!

  • errrrr.....guys before you lift off. There should be someone on it called Sister Miram. Could you please kick her off and throw her in a ditch somewhere. She's a pain and it's for the good fo everyone. After she's off then you can take off.

  • why is there a chopper above the rocket 10 seconds before take off -_-

  • The seeds of the dandelion represent humans spreading their seeds to other worlds. How poetic.

  • @Brightgalrs Fucking weeds.

  • Civ 2 might have the best wonders of the worlds videos (by a wide margin!), but this is probably the best ending video of any civ game . It really makes you feel like you have accomplished something great.

Oh, and nothing wrong with outpost 2, it is a nice game. Outpost 1 is the poorly designed one in the series.

  • When technology isn't so good, civilization 3 comes out with such a magnificent victory cutscene. When graphics of games look totally realistic, civilization 5 gives you a picture, words, retard talking, AND YEA THATS IT.

  • WHATS WITH THE FUCKING LENS FLARE!? Please, top using it developers, it looks like ass and adds nothing to realism.

  • @Szgerle a rocket is taking off and you're complaining about lens flare.

  • I've started my own campaign and uploaded three parts already. Come and have a look at them if you like civ 3. To find my videos in a search just type civilization 3 english campaign .

  • Gorgeous

  • No this is more like a FF8 thing

  • This is still way better than other victories, even AFTER playing Civ 5.

  • Comment removed

  • This is better than Civ 4 space victory.

  • this is the most beautiful piece of art that has ever been created. i cried when i launched the spaceship the first time...

  • You should check out Alan Shepard's flight in the first episode of From the Earth to the Moon.

  • @DIABLOtheLEGEND ME TOO

  • Ramirez build a space ship!

  • Best space ending of all Civ's until now. Need to play Civ V though.

  • @EMPPT civ 5 has no victory movies it sucks like that

  • @fads90 Still, it has an picture with a quote. It's better than nothing :)

  • The Civ IV videos are so tacky compared to II, III and Alpha Centauri's.

  • This video seems to hold something... Like it's made to tell us something about progress. About when things work, and you look from what we began, it's just like, feeling good to work, but sad to not stay...

  • wait a second... why is there a helicopter approaching the rocket at T-10 seconds?

  • @SalinValu because hes a terrest attempting a suicide... duh :P lol

  • i've just finished building the alpha centauri spaceship, and it's not letting me launch!

  • too bad dandelions are weeds.

  • AND THEN THEY WERE EATEN BY MIND WORMS!

  • The symbolism of the flower spreading its seeds is very well done there at the end. Here is hoping that we can do that and spread peacefully like the flower. Also a very interesting take on the old political vid where the girl is picking flowers and gets hit by an atomic bomb not sure which politician it was that did that...

  • Makes me think of FFVII mixed with the Right Stuff

  • And so begins Alpha Centauri...

  • Reminds me of Soylent Green

  • and so begins the race forthe space to conquer what is not there from the minds of higher ends comes the ultimate power

  • And so...mankind spreads out to conquer new worlds

  • this IS fine art

  • One of my favorites. Simply awesome!

  • to bad when you get space victory the first time it shows it only THAT time and not any otehr tiem it was a great scene i know game is old ive been a fan but they should patch that somehow :)

  • My favorite cutscene of all time. The dandelion seeds are just so symbolic.

  • Heroes 3 is different, and a player can enjoy one in ways that he can't enjoy the other. Which is better depends on how that player appreciates those ways. It often changes with time.

(Nobody start pointing out the other game's flaws, please. I like playing Outpost 2, knowing full well it's horribly designed, because of the feel it gives of accomplishing something worthwhile.)

  • and BOOM the rocket explodes!!

  • GODDAMMIT!

  • That sort of thing can happen in the first Civ or two, you know. Players get to customize their spaceships a bit, so if they're losing the space race, they can toss the safety measures, press the big red button and really hope it works, instead.

  • @Kizor Well, if you just put 1 hab, 1 life support and 2 solar panels, have enough structural support and full propulsion and fuel, then you get a "race horse" instead of a "slow mule", but you get only 1/4 of the points from this achievement :D

  • You know, I always felt that the dandelion at the end was symbolic of both the spaceship sending humanity to other worlds to spread out. But I also thought it resembled the stasis cells as well.

  • I was about to say the same thing, then saw this comment.

    Ditto :P

  • did anybody elses game fuck up when they tried to launch because mine froze and then erased the game from my hard drive

  • @peanutbutter854 i had that happen too but u might be overloading the memory cuz that was my problem.

  • @peanutbutter854 mine 2! i had a huge map and a lot of units tats probably why

  • wow thats aweomse, im glad nasa is going back to the moon soon. we rock !

  • Music reminds me of FF7 ;)

  • @mrprodigy83 me too (when we make move Cloud's team on external map)

But I prefer space victory music used in Civ2 (2001 space odyssee)

  • Beautiful.

  • The seeds at the end were pretty poetic. That was awesome.

  • Perfect game ending, though it would be cool if they showed a bunch of enemy tanks trying to destroy the ship before it took of.

  • Why? Sending a ship into outer space is not an act of war. Yes you win the game and all but its trying to be realistic here. Just because the US built the first colony ship does not mean that the whole world is gonna declare war on them.

  • well no because if you recal in the cold war, it had nothing to do with actual battles but more of a state of power. the cold war was soon ended after the americans "suposedly" landed on the moon. so even though that a space race victory had no loss of life to win it is still just a symbol of political power, so before you think that it has nothing to do with war check back on history first.

  • i got feeling from Paraskys comment that ICBM would work with fusion? Mankind havent discovered fusion yet

  • We know fusion..

  • We know it exists and ye know how to make it, just not how to make it efficient, just yet.

  • efficient? how can it be efficient?

  • Today, fusion experiments require more power to power them up, than the power it can actually give until it's shutdown, thus making it inefficient.

In the day when we, humans, are able to construct and activate a power plant whit a self sustaining fusion, then It's benefits will be huge to both mankind and our planet.

PS: Remember that the tests we made and still make whit fusion power are very short, less than 0.5 secs of actual functioning.

  • you misunderstood me. i ment, how can a bomb generly be efficient? how can it help someone? it can only kill someone, and if you find that efficient, you'r fucked up.

  • we can build fusion bombs but we ae not able to controll it

  • The hydrogen bomb works by setting off uranium bombs around a quantity of hydrogen in series. the resulting pressure causes the hydrogen to fuse, releasing energy and helium.

  • And off they ( and maybe one day we) go to seed other worlds.

  • I have a few complaints of the game but its still awesome:

    1. A tactical nuke won't destroy a city Example: America was in war with Japan, America sent an ICBM and a Tactical Nuke to Kyoto to destroy it, it only graded down. (Real battle)

    2. the lack of resources, if it isn't like 1 vs 1 or just yourself practicing, you will notice a large lack of resources, which will end up trading for tech.

  • Erm, are you saying that a nuke SHOULD or SHOULDN'T destroy a city in the game? Because America never nuked Kyoto, and ICBMs and tactical nukes have never been used in a real war.

  • We never launched an ICBM or tactical nuke at Kyoto. We dropped an atom bomb on Hiroshima and another on Nagasaki. And an atom bomb is an atomic weapon, not a nuclear one. Far less powerful and only deals with fission, not fusion. You need to learn some history and some physics.

  • doesn't fission and fusion fall under chemistry?

  • well duh...

  • Lol A Tactical Nuke today would obliterate a county.

  • thats whay its challenging to find and gain control of recources

  • That was absolutely beautiful. Awesome use of symbolism.

  • Since you need the strategic resource uranium to build the fuel cell component, you can guess out that the ship is powered by a nuclear reactor.

The rocket could be using hydrogen fuel to leave the planet, which is made from water by using the energy of the reactor, and the waste material; oxygen, can be used for the crew to breathe.

  • Taepodong missile?

  • I think this one is more symbolic than the new space victory.

  • Yeah it seems like they didn't really try as hard in Civ 4...

  • Inspiring!

  • That was powerful

  • one of the best videos EVAR!

  • I love the dandelion metaphor, one day we shall perhaps have this opportunity.

  • If we don't blow ourselves up.

  • I just Wonser y Civ 3 is better...

    And the vid, B-E-UTIFEL

  • This was a much better game than Civ 4 in my opinion. And this Space Race Victory video is just beautiful. The dandelion at the end is so symbolic. *tips hat to Sid Meier*

  • ya,i agree with you,i loved civ3 and its space race victory is the best video of the whole civilization series.

  • Nice grafix for that time!

  • What happens in the cultural victory???

I have never win that way

  • You can find it on YouTube.

  • W O W

  • I am always in shock about the look of this. Breathtaking

  • The symbolism of this video is so beautiful.

  • SpikeIncorporated just wrote what I feel, when I look at those Civ-Videos.

  • This was such an amazing ending. It shoes how we came so far, and yet have so much farther to go.

  • what the hell?? did you see how freakin big that rocket was?? holy sh*t! look at it in comparison with other stuff, thats alot of da*n fuel!

  • And do you know how far away Alpha Centauri is?

  • Far far far away

  • Around 3 or 4 and a half light-years away

  • ok thx. I knew it was pretty far.

  • not very far. only 4.2 lightyears... although it will take a shitload of timeto get there lol!

  • Maybe a spaceship that travels at the speed of light will be developed? I dunno...

  • Yeah, then we'd only need space to put 4.2 years worth of supplies.

  • Well Cosmologists spend about 18 months in a space centre(a Russian Cosmologist...Alexander something visited my school a while back)

  • Enstein said that mater cannot move at the speed of ligth, you need an infinite mass and energy to do so,but in time and space there is others way to move from point A to B...like wormhole...the straigth line is not always the best way (sorry for my bad english)

  • Crud that is way beyond my Physics

  • Of course it would take a long time. That's why, in this video, you can see the "colonists" in cryogenic stasis, so they don't age over the many years they'll spend in space.

  • It's essentially a space station.

  • wanting new friends

    im bored on cam uX

  • the launched a nuke to space wtf

  • that was a spaceship.

  • smart

  • wow youre a intelectual...

  • wait in civ 4 expansion u cant fight in the solar system and other solar systems?

  • no, u cant

  • theres a mod for that in bts, but i dont really like it ^^

  • Why a helicopter is flying around 15 seconds before launch is beyond me.

  • lol the pilot must be suicidal...

  • You have to admit though, that channel would have the most viewers for the best camera angles over the spaceship.

  • It doesn't actually show you reaching Alpha Centauri!

  • I hope that in Civ 5 you need to colonize first the solarsystem before going interstellar. That would be more realistic and cooler (Building cities on the Moon, Mars, Jupiter moons and fighing wars there too.)

  • which civ can you fight in space and stuff

  • only in mods

  • mods for which 1

  • Try the Final Frontier mod that comes whit Civ 4 ;)

  • thats a cool mod :D

  • you do that in civilization IV beyond the sword but you have to have Civilization IV before playing beyond the sword

  • ah thx

  • Master of Orion 2(not 3, because it sucks) it's just about the same as Civilization games, a bit older than this one but still an amazing game.

I'm pretty sure it was made by the same people that made Civ 2

  • It wasn't, but there turns out to be more to it. The first two Civs were made by MicroProse. The first two MoOs were made by the smaller Simtex but published by MicroProse, as was Master of Magic between the two Orions.

Master Of Magic looks like a rip-off of Civilization I with bits from Master of Orion and other games. According to a 1994 review, MicroProse told Simtex to go for a similarity. Simtex then used its experience with MoM and MoO for MoO2, giving it a resemblance to Civilization.

  • Have u played MoO 1 or 2 at all? there were similarities(buildings, research, diplomacy), but it focused on desingning your own units and comand them in battle by yourself. the colonization part(star systems with different planets) also was quite different from Civ2.

  • Someone asked for a space game similar to Civ3, and yes I have MoO2, it's great.

It's basics are the same, but the details are radically different, as you said.

  • @SwordStriker

Yeah, Master of Orion 2 is great, love that game and still play it once in a while. However, missiles are nearly impossible to counter early on, lol.

  • Lol they should of had rocket man playin XP

  • aaaahhhh and thanks to that spaceship we have the wonderfull game alpha centauri lol

  • Wow... just look at the amount of energy needed to lift the rocket to space...

  • I know...it was able to destroy flowers and everything!

  • civ 3 better than civ 4

  • ehhh just some videos but not the game

  • So was I. (REPLY TO TupeloMsBoy) When I won the Space Race as America, I was not exactly thrilled, but breathless. It was a close tie - America and Persia.

  • I was actually breathless the first time I got a space race victory and saw this video.

  • Same here. In fact, I just got my first about tem minutes ago. And, @Bangra7, I was America, nearly tied with Rome.

  • now what i dont understand is why a helicopter is flying right above the launchpad 10 seconds before the spaceship lifts off?? isn't that kinda dangerous?
