@WSenator1 lol good question. The song is so sweet and classy you almost don't realize that she's singing about a very UN-classy thing. Still a beautiful song though.
IT SEEMS WE HAVE GONE INTO REVERSE AS A PEOPLE,IN MANY RETROSPECTS.JUS LOOK AND LISTEN TO CLASS,AND CLASSIC MUSIC.IF A WHITE GIRL GROUP LIKE THE ROYALETTES EXITED BACK THEN,WE WOULD STILL BE HEARING ABOUT THEM TO THIS DAY!!!! AND THATS THE REALITY.SO SO SAD.
How could this not have been a huge hit? I can't understand how they didn't blow up. Great songs, great vocals, beautiful background singers, and a lead singer that was drop dead gorgeous. They had the total package.
Fantastic record! I bought both their albums in 1966 or 67. Still have the first one but lost this LP. Fortunately I was able to get both on CD a while back. Thanks for the excellent video and the memories!
I never knew this group existed till a few days ago, now i am frantically trying to listen to all of their stuff. i love the orchestration and the soaring vocals. it's a shame they do not have much recognition around the world. so far i have enjoyed all the songs i have heard. thanks for posting them.
WOW - with songs like these, and those lush soulful vocal and string arrangements, its a wonder why this group wasn't as big as other groups like the Supremes!
I remember hearing this song when I was a teenager. I only heard it on the radio once or twice, then I never heard it again. I thought for a long time that the Marvellettes sang it. Thanks, pghpookie, for setting me straight!
I miss this music and those classy black women so much. Everyone today appears to be right out of a pole dancing class with trashy looks and too much bling.
this is one top notch tune,J.C.! 5 star material! a teddy randazzo production? wasn't he and this group from philly? it has that mid 60's philly sound to it like back when gamble and huff were just starting to gain ground and arctic records was on the rise.
thanks for the 5. actually these girls were from baltimore, (royal theater-royalettes). i may not be absolutely right on this, but i'm pretty sure they recorded their stuff at bell sound in ny. the same period teddy rand. was working with little anthony.
You're absolutely right! The Royalettes did record all of their MGM material at Bell Sound in N.Y. I had the pleasure of recording there in the late 60s and their photo was on the wall of fame, right next to Teddy Randazzo. I can understand how soln4suhreborn mistook them for a "Philly" group. All the jocks in Philly heavily embraced these fine ladies and gave them plenty of air-play. When "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" broke, I too, thought they were from Philly. Great post. Love your channel!!!
yo! daddyclb, thanks for the nice comment about the channel. that was an educated guess on the bell sound thing. i knew teddy randazzo did a lot of his recordings there. hey, i'm curious now. who were you recording with at bell?
beautiful song. i like the pictures in this video

Question: If the singer knows this guy is no good (cheating on her best friend and all), why is SHE hanging with him?

Love these ladies. Always have. They were the classiest woman's group of the mid to late 60's.
