Boss Addict... Replace your OD-3 for a TS9 and get rid of all your disto pedals and buy a triple rectifier and get some real disto with thoses channels !
@gravel22 Rectifier Addict ..... replace your rectifier amp and get a Marshall or an Orange so you can get distorted sounds ..... unless you prefer "neat distorted sounds"
@rockandroller007 I'm gravel22 on my other account : listen man I'm reaaaaaaaaaly not a Rectifier Addict, but I think it's the cheapest way for him to get an incredible variety of excellent distortion and also a good clean. Concerning my rig I've got a Mesaboogie .50 Caliber Plus, 24 years old intact. Real pure vintage tone, fu.ck yeah. And I've never been able to love as much a orange amp, only the marshall plexis was near to my Caliber Plus. Regards.
Good one! Change the title to "Testing Boss OD3 PW2 HM2 HM3 MT2 XT2 Distortion Pedals" (maybe even add "Demo" and/or "Review") and you will probably get a million views plus anyone researching those pedals can easily find your video. Thanks for sending this to me...
I'm just in the process of (hopefully) picking up an HM-2, and Images and Words was exactly what I was thinking of when I thought of something that I hoped it might be able to approximate. Thank you sir! Of all of the video reviews I've seen so far, this is the most informative.
@JRBain7 Thanks a lot. I hope the HM-2 will work for you. Personally I'm not sure that one is the perfect match for the DT sound, you'd perhaps lack a little sustain, but that will also depend on the amp and the guitar... Check it out anyway, it's a great pedal to have!
@nobisoptimismaximis Cheers man. I hope so as well. I just got it and had a quick noodle. It's late though, so I couldn't really get a good idea of what it sounds like. Sounds like it could be fun, though. EQ is very touchy, I noticed. To be honest I'm willing not to expect too much of it. I'm broke and don't have anything else to make that kind of noise with (and can boost it with my SD-1, which might help); for 35 delivered I can't complain! :)
@hyperphoenix11 Interesting question. I have no knowledge of the electronics, but I've discovered that when I plug it in my fuel tank directly, it doesn't work properly. However, if I use a daisy chain on the HM-2 together with a PSA pedal, it works fine.
the Xtortion is way to heavy i have this metal and feel its got way to much crunch i wouldnt recommend it its not easy to get lighter Distortions from.
The other pedals (which don't have a mid-control) have the highs and lows slightly boosted and the distortion around 75%. The HM-2 is imo very good for the old Iron Maiden sound. The one I really love is the XT-2, which can sound dirty like Akira Takasaki's sound.
Remember: the MT-2 is still in production, so you'll have another chance of buying that. If you find a HM-3 at a good price, buy it. You'll definitely be the most brutal guitarplayer in the neighborhood!
I vote for ML-2

They pretty much all suck. Particularly MT-2. Sound like a trumpet...
But the HM-2 has a good kind of shitty sound - the classic swedish DM sound! We all know it sucks, but it's classic.

Hey, I was just wondering did you have the same settings on each pedal or was it just randomly set up? I'm thinking about buying the HM-3...
Hevarimuumi666 1 year ago
First of all: all these pedals sound better in real life than in this video!
The HM-3 is perfect for death metal and low tunings. Not so good for soloing though, so you should add another pedal for that.
If you want versatility, have the MT-2. It is set in my video with a slight mid-boost. With the mids cut, it becomes more like Slayer.
