To get $55 of gold, you would need gold plated items totaling almost .8 m2 total surface area. That is a lot of gold plated parts. Here's the math.
Gold plating is usually about 20 micro inches thick (20 millionths of an inch or 1/19762 cm), To yield a gram of gold worth $55. 1 Gram of gold is .3727 cm3 ( a cube .3727 cm on each side) split down to 1/19762 cm thick sections would yield a surface area of .3727cm2 x 19762 or 7365 cm2 or almost 1 meter squared.
I,m fine with it - it's just the ones with the Gold are worth more as a working computer part - don't have GPS & V chips & folks born 10 years from now will be looking for these parts 30 years from now :( QC
I like having 40 shoe boxes of Ram , I belong to the Computer Museum Chanel , many Linux Groups , Heathkit Groups - our Goal is not Money - it's caring for the software & Hardware , so it's around for future generations : ( QC
YO EVERYONE GO ON EBAY RIGHT NOW I'm selling a lot of my stuff in one Large Flat Rate box... COMPUTER STUFF.... Camera Router RAM WebCam LOTS MORE CHECK IT OUT!!!
your ruining computers worth more than the Gold Scrap - with a VLK of Windows XP Pro any computer from 1993 0n with 64 or more megs of ram will run an Office :( QC
@Quaaludedude714 so you want an entire computer sitting around just to run office? any computer from 93 would be dreadfully slow at doing anything else, quit trying to act like you're smart
@SoftballGuysDOTcom I have 700 of them in my place , there will be folks in 2057 looking for ATX X86 32 bit ISA Cards , if you scrap them there will not be any to show future generations , I collect them to run games and software and for the History - and I think i,m smart - that's all that matters :) QC
@Quaaludedude714 If I sold these for scrap now and put the money into a low risk investment I bet I would have more money than you by 2057. Plus I would have less risk of losing/destroying these parts and less overhead of storing them for 50 years. I think I'm pretty smart too, ha :p
Unles you are the owner of an aircraft hanger, to store these 700 PCs in, I can only assume that you have no liveable space in your home? I'm afraid that you sound like a typical 'Pack Rat Syndrome' Obsessive-Compulsive Collecter Disorder, sufferer.
Get help. There are organisations out there which will help you get your life back - unless you don't want to 'get a life'?
@hmscollingwood I collect them , yes I,m running out of room - but frankly I would not want folks even family in my place , we can meet at the park - every single computer is different & many games were written for each one , then each year Linux & others make 30 or more OS's for 8-16-32 & 64 bit computers -- look up the computer collectors code of conduct :) QC
@Quaaludedude714 There's more to life and the universe than circuit boards, honestly..! Try a human relationship. More challenging and capable of infinite possibilities for failure but potentially much more satisfying. Ever tried to have a serious converstion with a PC..?

These are gold plated. The green cards pound for pound are worth more than the gold on the motherboards and cards
