  • Excellence

  • Skill.

  • Epic

  • Palladio, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Wizards in Winter, Carol of the Bells, etc...

  • 1:20 sound like "Hit the Road, Jack" by Ray Charles o_O

  • @rossyxan An Andalusian cadence, used in many songs all over the world ;)

  • It's fantastic!!!! I'm a little organist, I love this song!!!!! You're very good. :-)

  • THAT GUY IS ONE BAMF

  • Why the hell aren't you playing at the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York. You would be great. What a trill to hear you play such a wonderful and orginal arrangement. I have never heard such wonderful christmas organ music in my life. You're the best!

  • wonderful!

  • OMG <3

  • Brilliant, Superb! Excellent! Looks like a Casavant Pipe Organ am I right?

  • @Chesterbarnes1 Far from it! This is a 4 manual Allen Renaissance Quantum digital organ paired with the Allen Vista MIDI module.

  • briliant cobination of carols and palladio! i loved this so much!

  • Briliant combination of Christmas Carols and Karl Jenkins' Paradio! I love it!

  • Well you may as well have called it an arrangement of Carol of the Bells or Palladio as well as God rest You Merry. But I loved this. I'm not sure if this is actually supposed to be a demonstration piece of the organ's tonal capabilities but it was delightful to watch the registration and ingenious manual changes. You would have to be really miserable for this not to have raised a smile

  • This is a superlative example of why I love music so much . . . it amazes, surprises, and then makes you laugh. :o) This is fantastic!

  • This is why I love the organ. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas! :D

  • Incredible !! Thanks to Ken Derkson from Winnipeg Allen Organ who sent me this link. I have forwarded it to my choir.

We have purchaed a new Allen chapel series......should be here in a week!

  • Little do we all know, that when the Organ was first invented many many many yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaarrrrrsssssss ago, THIS is what they had in mind. Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!! Some "HUNDREDS" of years later.

  • this is beautiful

  • COOOOOOOOOL THANX

  • WISH I COULD PLAY LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!

    (DING FRATCHER DONG!!!)

  • By far the coolest holiday piece I have ever heard!

  • Absolutely spectacular Barry! Be looking for the order to come soon for our new Allen at St. Elmo United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN. You may remember we lost our Moller Pipe/Digital MDS-80 in the fire at our church in August 2009. I am meeting with Jim Ingram this coming Tuesday to go over the details for our instrument. I cannot believe the VISTA... it is wonderful and you are wonderful!!

  • I especially enjoyed the Diamonds are Forever commercial theme intertwined in the arrangement.

  • Magnifique arrangement et somptueux instrument!

  • I saw Barry play this arrangement and others at a cathedral in the northern suburbs of Sydney a few weeks ago. He was using an Allen L-321e with Vista and it was absolutely remarkable. To see his hands play is one thing, to sit in the audience and see his legs dance all over the pedal board is inspiring.

  • holy cow 4 keyboards plus foot pedal

    thats amazing

  • Wow! Brilliant arrangement, supurb organist, wonderful digital instrument. This is definately one for my all time greatest collection! Please do concider publishing this arrangement! Best regards from South Africa!

  • What else can I say? This is HOT! You need to publish BOOKS of arrangements like this, Barry!

  • Bravo! Excellent demonstration of the Quantum's capabilities as both organ and MIDI controller.

  • Barry is no doubt gifted! Is their anymore we can listen to Barry?

  • WOW!! Well played! I can see you are quite comfortable with that Allen!

  • AMAZING!

  • Have listened to this several times also, and what skilled organ playing. This man is to bee commended! Excellent!!!

  • I hear organ stops coming in around around 1:40 i think. And I love that you used Parts from Palladio!

  • The organ really IS the king of instruments as Mozart said.

  • Barry, do you have this written down? Or would we have to transcribe it?

  • Sorry, it's not a written arrangement. By the way, I see that you're located in Australia. I'm planning on being there in July and will be giving a MIDI workshop in Sydney and, maybe, one in Brisbane as well. Let me know if you're interested.

  • that was bludy good how did you do it

  • Very enjoyable.

I so wanted the 12/4 time passages to be in 11/4 !

  • Now, Here's a REAL Unit Orchestra! While NOTHING will ever replace the beauty and uniqueness of a Theatre Organ, I'd bet Hope-Jones would have loved this as would have JS Bach, Handle among others. Wonder how Virgil Fox would have taken to this type of power and flexibility...One can only wonder

  • was there even a single organ stop used?!

  • Good question! And the answer is "yes" and "no". I didn't register individual stops along with the MIDI sounds. But, as I "orchestrated" this arrangement, I thought of the organ as one of the instruments and I wanted to be able to add it or subtract it independently. So, I created the orchestration by setting MIDI sounds to pistons and then in several sections I added the organ through the use of the crescendo pedal. Organ purists may blanche at that, but it works in this context.

  • Have listened to this at least five times. Is fantastic! However, I hear much more of, "Hark to the Bells," than I do, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

  • Barry, you did an amazing job weaving all those themes together. I've listened to it 3 times already and will share it with all my fellow musicians at the Allentown Music Club and the Young Musicians Club, who really enjoy our visits to the Allen Organ headquarters. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you will do some more in the near future...

  • 5 Stars for a great organ and a great organist! WOW!

  • Just Great

  • Excellent improvization! Beautiful.

  • FABULOUS !!!

  • Interesting!!

  • That was a nice arrangement, and a very creative use of the Vista module! Good work Barry!

  • Not only is the playing and the arrangement clever & fresh, but the voicing is also. It really shows off the many facets of this Allen while blurring the line completely between Theatre and Classic voiced instruments. Maybe it should have been posted as "Hark how the bells give ye merry gentlemen little rest". Brilliantly done.

  • WOW. Hearing an allen organ played like this makes me proud to be an Allen Owner.
