Maybe you guys should redefine the rules cause I'm at a loss . I thought we were supposed to spit in webcam. Are we supposed to make music videos and go mix the track in a studio?
javonpryce, I agree they should clarify the rules especially when they are giving about prize like this week. The only thing she is saying in this video though is no mp3. So you can't just put a video up with a picture and just the mp3 playing and win.
Well, I thought if they said no MP3, that would mean, absolutely no MP3. If that was the case, I would have entered with a mixed MP3 track and lip synced my video. So, my interpretation was, make it real. SEFnificent and myself spit right on webcam, no mp3 lip syncing. I'm not saying I didn't like the other entries, I enjoyed them very much, but when you confuse people, it makes it an unfair advantage as to what you really want. Cause we have no idea. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.
I agree. It does make it unfair those who follow the rules. I just want to know whether we should spit into a web cam (like Wahidah said) or if we should lip-sync on a web-cam (like the guy that won did).
DjGoodB, it's a new segment for the jumpoff. They are working out the problems. I have seen many of these type contests/rap cyphers on Youtube and what usually happens is unless the rules specificaly says don't do something people do whatever and the people that go the extra mile usually win or get highlighted. Anytime the Jumpoff is giving away a prize they should be real specific about the rules.
Debonair, I know how hard it is to maintain a contest. I had one of my own over on my channel and it was really hard to make a decision. I basically devoted my whole video as to what I wanted in detail so no one would get confused, but I'm still working on it for the next one. They are actually lucky because they only have to deal with 13 entries, I had 70+ entries and was bugging out, haha. Thanks for responding. You have a good channel too, U have one of my friends in your videos, Hydroponiks.
I see people took my advice. Most of the videos are good and worth watching and the audio is on point even for the people spiting on a webcam. It's a much tougher choice this week..
Javonpryce, people just need to step their game up man. I knew the person who's stuff sounded the best was going to win. I would make a video with a recorded version of my track too. I wouldn't spit it on a crappy webcam either. Your video should look clear and sound good if it can.
When you say the person's stuff who sounds the best.... do you mean in sound quality or in actual lyrical content? Because he wasnt the most lyrical. I'm sure all the other contestants couldv'e easily gone to a studio to record, but they followed the rules.... spit in the webcam.
I mean sound quality and production man. I do my own show. I will always pick a video that looks and sound good over one that might be lyrical better but looks and sound like crap. It's a video show man. They let the winner track play for 3 minutes in the video man. Imagine if it sounded like shit for 3 minutes. Record your shit if you can. Make sure you have your look together in the video too. 20,000 people will watch the freaking video. Look like you put some afford in the shit man.

Yes I'd rather listen to Lauryn Hill's acoustic album raps than to watch Souljaboy's music videos. Oh, and this was supposed to be a songwriter's contest, not a record label audition.
javonpryce,lol, I didn't say music videos in my comment. I said the audio should sound good and video should be clear. If you add that instrumental to your video instead of have the camera audio pick it up. That will improve the audio dramatically. You do the Soulja Boy and Lauryn Hill comparison is just invalid the point. You can listen to Lauryn Hill on a crappy cam with crappy audio versus on a good camera and a good mic. Most people would perfer the later. That's all I'm saying.
I mean that for everybody. I wasn't talking about you personally. Presentation is important. I'm not saying it's everything and they might pick somebody that does do any of the stuff I'm talking about but you definitely need to make sure your shit sounds good.
my guess is that all though they bent the rules by previously recording the hook and a backing vocal Jump off liked the amount of work put into it. They made a full track with multiple verses and hooks.
I personally think a couple of other entries were better and the video ratings will agree with me. I guess quantity wins over quality this time.

See what it is to me, if my artist's entry is going to be seen by "x" amount of people I want to make sure it looks good.
Until i'm told otherwise I will encourage ark and c's to keep doing what they are doing.
If your happy with spitting on a webcam thats cool and I respect that.
I personally like to raise the bar a little.

and their video and audio quality was low
The lyrics were pretty good though
and they had nice delivery
