That's really sad. I understand their desire to remove drugs from your system and go the all natural route, but its just not that simple. In extreme cases that we have, you'd have to take a very difficult primal diet or take medicines. There is so much hype about "drugs are bad. Medicines aren't necessary" which may be true in some cases. Maybe if you have a cold. Headache. But it is SO HELPFUL. You just have to do your research and take care of your body.

However, I don't believe he killed his son. When I heard about Jett passing I felt overwhelmed with sadness because when bad things like that happen to nice families, it hurts that much more. I am a fan of Travolta since I was a child. My brother had a serious accident and brain injury. It has been a tough journey for him, but the thing that has been constant in his journey has been the care, concern and help from all the medical personal we have encountered. He suffered 30-40 seizures a day and after many medications and combinations we have got that down to 10 or so "shivvy wivvys" as he calls them, seizures that stop almost straight away. Hurrah for modern medicine.
I have epilepsy like Jeff, and am on two epilepsy medications that have given me the first shot at a normal life that I have had in many years. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right meds, and many people get discouraged, as my family and I did. But people with epilepsy CANNOT go without treatment. There is the chance of serious injury, or death. John and Kelly, don't let Jett's death have been for nothing. Get out before it's too late.
There is one girl in the UK who has seizures and no medication has been able to manage it well so in her unusual case she has to eat a High fat diet which somehow releases specific chemicals in the brain from the high fat nutrients which has calmed down her seizures and hopefully will buy her sometime for the Doctors to figure the right combination of treatment as a high fat diet longterm would be bad for your heart

I live in Tampa florida very close to one of the main scientolgy offices/church or whatever they call it. I hear most of the news as its local here and them people are NUTS. If you go in and you on meds for anything they try and get you to not take them. This boy needed them and most likely wouldnt of had a seziure and died. You are right that the medication may not have prevented it, I don't know for sure. Still you are arguing with a person who has a similar condition about the effectiveness of medication that we know at least reduces the frequency and severity of these attacks, meds that the CoS is against. Guys, my son looks and acts just like Jett did, and takes Abilify. He has to, and it is not like everyone knows, he just has to. I am a physician, and Scientology does not mean that someone cannot be on meds, they just may pick and choose those that they will not take for themselves. These are not Seventh Day Adventists refusing antibiotics for uti's they obviously had him on meds. He likely fell, hit his head, had a subdural bleed, and died. Tragic, but nobody's fault. Just sad.

I am an Adventist, I live in one of the LARGEST Adventist towns in the nation, I was raised Adventist my whole life as were my friends and family members. Not ONE of them has ever refused any type of medication ever. There is nothing about not taking meds anywhere in the Adventist doctrine. I myself was on depression meds most of my life, prescribed by an adventist Psychologist. Scientology on the other hand has recordings saying no meds. Seriously, learn what yoru talking about.

In 1989 a 15 year old kid ("ETHICS") told me:

That began another fight. In 1990's I went to the Freewinds to see my husband, again treated like a leper, not allowed on the ship until they "Checked" re my medication. Try as you may, the truth is quite simple:Medical Abuse.
Being "treated like a leper" and socially ostracized by some Scientologists is not the same as being ordered to stop taking medication. The issue there is social pressure, not medical abuse because you in fact continued to take your medications and be audited. That fact contradictions your assertions in the video. There's just no getting around it. The more credible intelligent discussion would focus on social pressure, not allegations you were forced to stop meds because you obviously weren't.
They AGAIN told me, "You have to get off of all medication". I insisted they send my folders up to RTC, as I KNEW they were wrong. Finally, after one month, the Senior C/S wrote a "Policy" saying IF someone had tried to get off of their medication, and their Dr. Still said they should take it (as mine had), they should be Ok'd. This was a 30 year fight, and ALL those who are d e a d are proof that your "Tech" doesn't work!
PS: For years I wondered why he ordered me off the Flag Land base? Why? I found out, once I left: They had months earlier ordered a man get off of *his* medication for seizures and he died at the Flag Land Base.
Memory is not the same thing as "absolute truth", but personal experience from memory can be powerful. You are one voice, and look how many voices are responding. The biggest "hole" that has already been repeatedly pointed out here by others is the nearly 30 years you were onlines getting auditing up through the OT while on your anti-seizure medications with the approval of LRH and later two senior C/Ses.
I was ordered OFF of my medication....and live with super poor short term memory (not long term, so leave out "She can't remember--as that's false")...every day, due to those abuses.
In 1979 I was AGAIN ordered off my medication, by C of S--and ended up in Morton Plant Hospital.
In 1989 I was told: "You are not allowed on the Flag Land Base".
Ok, I got auditing, but that was due to MY fighting it, inch by inch, and MANY dying in the meantime.
The fact of the deaths occurred cannot be disputed by the cause certainly can be. It doesn't sound to me like every death that is being attributed to Scientology was necessarily caused by Scientology. And by the way, Scientology is definitely not my church. There are plenty of non-Scientologists who find the way this is being dealt with by anti-Scientology activists highly problematic.

I spoke to an OT 8 Review auditor, who said she left Scientology due to the abuses and SO many OT 8's dying, it was uncanny.
I'm willing to believe that there are genuinely a lot of people in Scientology with good intentions. (Usually not church leaders, however.) But, many of them are deluded in the same way that John Travolta was. How many more people have to die like poor Jett, before something is done? I support Freedom of Religion. But, there has to be a way to maintain that right, and protect the safety of children like Jett Travolat.
Seems to me that you're pointing out just the few times that were officially recorded Zusy. I'm sure there was lots of unofficial, unrecorded pressure from Scientology about her medication. And isn't that sort of obvious? I mean she said she was in it for 30 years and that she had the seizure fairly early, so obviously someone else in the organization let her stay.

She isn't just claiming "unofficial" pressure. What she and other cult experts on the basis of her testimony are claiming is the Scientology did not allow her to take her meds. If she wants to change that claim to unofficial pressure and admit that the CofS did approve of her taking meds and she in fact took them for nearly 30 years, then that would be another matter. The ED Int allowing meds that Tory says was written came out in 1989, well before Jett's birth.
I have said and I'll continue to say C of S demanded that *I* get OFF of my medication, all of it, for Epilepsy, in 1972 when they told me I was "Unqualified" for the Sea Org while on *any* medication. My MOTHER--which I've said, over and over, saved my life, and helped me get back on my medication. I STILL fought C of S for 30 y e a r s re medication+auditing. Don't try to change history for your PR---it won't work, ever. Start doing right things, vs. all the wrong.

Many people are not allowed into the Military who have to take certain medications for medical conditions but that doesn't mean they are being ordered to stop meds. It means they do not qualify to join due to the physical condition. Bottom line is that in 1989, the CofS issued a document stating that people can take anti-seizure meds.

That's interesting because most religions are very accepting of people who are from different faiths. How can you say this, when Tory herself was audited all the way through OT VII while on anti-seizure medications with the full approval of two Senior C/S Internationals? I was reading in my local paper today that John Travolta has gone into a major depression since this happened and is seriously disiillusioned with the COS's inability to help him with this condition.

The sad thing is that we cannot really truly Judge John Travolta and whether treatment or no treatment for Jett would have prevented his death. I am against COS for preventing families from pursuing medications and treatment for epilepsy and other illnesses but even with treatment epilepsy is a high risk of premature death especially if a child or teenager with complex disabilities has their first siezure especially or any seizure. we need to carry Grace, and reserve judgement of John Travolta

That's really sad. I understand their desire to remove drugs from your system and go the all natural route, but its just not that simple. In extreme cases that we have, you'd have to take a very difficult primal diet or take medicines. There is so much hype about "drugs are bad. Medicines aren't necessary" which may be true in some cases. Maybe if you have a cold. Headache. But it is SO HELPFUL. You just have to do your research and take care of your body.

However, I don't believe he killed his son. My guess, from living in the cult with Epilepsy and knowing their insanities towards illness, medication and therapy, is he didn't help him in ways he ~could~ have. His wife being a spokesperson against Psychiatry didn't help, either, as they offer the key aids for his son's illness.

You seem very sincere and heartfelt in this video and I am glad that your mother got through to you to save your life - your bond is strong. When I heard about Jett passing I felt overwhelmed with sadness because when bad things like that happen to nice families, it hurts that much more. I am a fan of Travolta since I was a child. My husband made a good point: he personally thinks that Scientology has too much "dirt" filed away on celebs so they can never leave even if they wanted to.

My brother had a serious accident and brain injury. It has been a tough journey for him, but the thing that has been constant in his journey has been the care, concern and help from all the medical personal we have encountered. He suffered 30-40 seizures a day and after many medications and combinations we have got that down to 10 or so "shivvy wivvys" as he calls them, seizures that stop almost straight away. Hurrah for modern medicine.

I have epilepsy like Jeff, and am on two epilepsy medications that have given me the first shot at a normal life that I have had in many years. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right meds, and many people get discouraged, as my family and I did. But people with epilepsy CANNOT go without treatment. There is the chance of serious injury, or death. John and Kelly, don't let Jett's death have been for nothing. Get out before it's too late.

There is one girl in the UK who has seizures and no medication has been able to manage it well so in her unusual case she has to eat a High fat diet which somehow releases specific chemicals in the brain from the high fat nutrients which has calmed down her seizures and hopefully will buy her sometime for the Doctors to figure the right combination of treatment as a high fat diet longterm would be bad for your heart

You are right that the medication may not have prevented it, I don't know for sure. Still you are arguing with a person who has a similar condition about the effectiveness of medication that we know at least reduces the frequency and severity of these attacks, meds that the CoS is against. Guys, my son looks and acts just like Jett did, and takes Abilify. He has to, and it is not like everyone knows, he just has to. I am a physician, and Scientology does not mean that someone cannot be on meds, they just may pick and choose those that they will not take for themselves. These are not Seventh Day Adventists refusing antibiotics for uti's they obviously had him on meds. He likely fell, hit his head, had a subdural bleed, and died. Tragic, but nobody's fault. Just sad.

I am an Adventist, I live in one of the LARGEST Adventist towns in the nation, I was raised Adventist my whole life as were my friends and family members. Not ONE of them has ever refused any type of medication ever. There is nothing about not taking meds anywhere in the Adventist doctrine. I myself was on depression meds most of my life, prescribed by an adventist Psychologist. Scientology on the other hand has recordings saying no meds. Seriously, learn what yoru talking about.

The issue I have with Scientology has to do with their medical abuses, and stopping of freedoms.

You however, have not lived through knowing 7 young people who took their own lives who were Scientologists.-ALL DEAD now, as well as many, many others who have died, due to Scientology's medical abuse. I have. John's wife, Kelly, is a top spokesperson against ..totally against ..any and ALL Psychiatry/Psychology. Many of those d e a d, may be alive today, had they had the treatment they needed.

What a good mother you got there Tory. My Great Grandfather committed suicide he too was a scientologist, my dad was there that day when he was a kid he heard the shotgun blast. I just wish there could have been someone in my family as brave as your mom to help him out in his time of need. After listening to more stories ive come to wonder if scientology had something to do with this... there is something not right about what they do to people. Best wishes to all the Freedom Fighters.

You're right--it's not a good argument to get people to stop questioning inconsistencies; it's just my opinion. As a blogger, Tory has always answered questions; I think some people can feel shut out if their questions were not answered to their satisfaction. You see problems and contradictions, and Tory has tried to address some of them--difference is that I give her the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I was "allowed" to do my OT levels, after a HUGE fight, and one man with Epilepsy who didn't fight dying at Flag, while I was fighting. (I found this out when I left). I delete, because you don't care about me, you're here to spread what you THINK is "Black PR", and it's a distraction off of any message. I have watched other documentaries that were under cover that showed Scientologists telling people that they can overcome ANY and ALL illness including and not limited to cancer.
A Scientologist doesn't have to be forced into stopping their medication in order to "feel" forced into stopping their medication.
Don't lie to those who come to you...DON'T tell them that dianetics is a cure all. Because, guess what?
They will believe you.

I don't feel anyone can be 100 % accurate in their memories. I am a Christian , so I automatically understand the imperfections of EVERYONE.
#2 All the affidavit showed me was that SCIENTOLOGY is NOT consistent and NOT stable and confuses the masses it tries to control.
#3 There as so many more stories of the danger and deaths imposed or caused by this religion that I believe her story.

In 1989 a 15 year old kid ("ETHICS") told me:
"YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FLAG LAND BASE".
That began another fight. In 1990's I went to the Freewinds to see my husband, again treated like a leper, not allowed on the ship until they "Checked" re my medication. Try as you may, the truth is quite simple:Medical Abuse.

Being "treated like a leper" and socially ostracized by some Scientologists is not the same as being ordered to stop taking medication. The issue there is social pressure, not medical abuse because you in fact continued to take your medications and be audited. That fact contradictions your assertions in the video. There's just no getting around it. The more credible intelligent discussion would focus on social pressure, not allegations you were forced to stop meds because you obviously weren't.

I was ORDERED To stop taking my medication in 1972, when I was old I had to before I could be in the Sea Org.
In 1979, after finishing OT 3, I was again, given a "Program" to get off of my medication.
I ended up nearly dead in Morton Plant Hospital, with Status Epileptus (multiple seizures).
In 1989, I paid via my Mother-in-law $100,000 to do OT 4-8 (this was my "Inheritance".
She was OT 8, and wanted to "See your wins while alive".
On my routing form to get onto OT 4, I was sent to "Ethics".

There, a 16 year old Italian Kid (possibly 18 but VERY young), looked into my "Ethics folder", looked at me like I was disgusting, and said:
"YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FLAG LAND BASE".
I knew it had to do with my medication, and this began my fight. My memory is just fine re all of this.

Originally the Director of Processing said:

They AGAIN told me, "You have to get off of all medication". I insisted they send my folders up to RTC, as I KNEW they were wrong. Finally, after one month, the Senior C/S wrote a "Policy" saying IF someone had tried to get off of their medication, and their Dr. Still said they should take it (as mine had), they should be Ok'd. This was a 30 year fight, and ALL those who are d e a d are proof that your "Tech" doesn't work!

Memory is not the same thing as "absolute truth", but personal experience from memory can be powerful. You are one voice, and look how many voices are responding. If people say you lie, I ask them to examine your motives. I don't think your motives are self-serving; you speak for the common good. The problem here isn't intentions or "loopholes"; it is the holes in the story that are big enough to drive a truck through and contradictions, IMHO and the false assumption that anyone who points this out is OSA, a Scn, etc.

I was ordered OFF of my medication....and live with super poor short term memory (not long term, so leave out "She can't remember--as that's false")...every day, due to those abuses.
In 1979 I was AGAIN ordered off my medication, by C of S--and ended up in Morton Plant Hospital.

Ok, I got auditing, but that was due to MY fighting it, inch by inch, and MANY dying in the meantime.

It doesn't sound to me like every death that is being attributed to Scientology was necessarily caused by Scientology. And by the way, Scientology is definitely not my church. There are plenty of non-Scientologists who find the way this is being dealt with by anti-Scientology activists highly problematic.

I'm willing to believe that there are genuinely a lot of people in Scientology with good intentions. (Usually not church leaders, however.) But, many of them are deluded in the same way that John Travolta was. How many more people have to die like poor Jett, before something is done? I support Freedom of Religion. But, there has to be a way to maintain that right, and protect the safety of children like Jett Travolat.

Seems to me that you're pointing out just the few times that were officially recorded Zusy. I'm sure there was lots of unofficial, unrecorded pressure from Scientology about her medication. And isn't that sort of obvious? I mean she said she was in it for 30 years and that she had the seizure fairly early, so obviously someone else in the organization let her stay.
Also- why are unqualified staff members making those decisions in the first place?

She isn't just claiming "unofficial" pressure. What she and other cult experts on the basis of her testimony are claiming is the Scientology did not allow her to take her meds. If she wants to change that claim to unofficial pressure and admit that the CofS did approve of her taking meds and she in fact took them for nearly 30 years, then that would be another matter. The ED Int allowing meds that Tory says was written came out in 1989, well before Jett's birth.

I have said and I'll continue to say C of S demanded that *I* get OFF of my medication, all of it, for Epilepsy, in 1972 when they told me I was "Unqualified" for the Sea Org while on *any* medication. My MOTHER--which I've said, over and over, saved my life, and helped me get back on my medication. I STILL fought C of S for 30 y e a r s re medication+auditing. I'm not interested in PR. Only the full truth. Not being allowed in the Sea Org while on medication is not the same as being ordered off it. Many people are not allowed into the Military who have to take certain medications for medical conditions but that doesn't mean they are being ordered to stop meds. It means they do not qualify to join due to the physical condition. Bottom line is that in 1989, the CofS issued a document stating that people can take anti-seizure meds.

That's interesting because most religions are very accepting of people who are from different faiths. Religions that are not tolerant of others are controversial and are at one extreme sequestered, and at the other extreme, violent. From the outside looking in, COS is arguably neither. However, Tory, you speak from the point of view as someone who has been inside. I don't hear many people speaking from this point of view.

In the '50's there was one group who were certified mental experts and could say Dianetics and Hubbard were FOS: Psychiatrists! I believe it was due to this reason that Hubbard began his gigantic campaign against them.

I was "in" C of $ for 30 years....and fought the entire "Church" re medication. Yes, I made an affidavit saying I FINALLY won, and the entire "Flag Land Base" was corrected on their confusions re medication. However, it was a 30 year battle, and twice I nearly died.
I don't care what Hubbard says here---he's basically putting down Dr's and always did.
It's ASSumed one *should* be able to "Handle" (Fix) any physical condition, either with auditing, or "Ethics". Ya...right.

How can you say this, when Tory herself was audited all the way through OT VII while on anti-seizure medications with the full approval of two Senior C/S Internationals? Google Tory 2003 Affidavit and read it for yourselves. People lower in the organization tried to tell her she couldn't be on them but according to her 2003 Affidavit when she appealed this she was allowed to take the meds and be audited through OT VII. I am not a fan of Scientology, just someone interested in truthful portrayal.

The point is this: *I* Had to fight, ALL the way from the 70's- the 90's re medication. I was treated, by most, as a "Degraded being", esp. behind closed doors. NO ONE should have to experience that, ever, no matter their illness.
It was OK'd by David Mayo, after fighting him, and soon after he left C of $ forever, too.
The other--_I fought ALL of the "Senior C/S's", went all the way to the top: RTC, and yes, got all "Corrected". Did it last? Lisa was killed a few years later.

I stayed in Scientology because I liked the people, I thought I was helping people, I believed in Hubbard. As the years went on, I began to connect the dots, realize they didn't give a S*** about anything but their "PR".
It's *very* difficult to see the light, as the higher you get, the more you MUST not look, listen, talk with ~anyone~ critical of Scientology. It's very tricky, but I appreciate your questions.
Seeing SO many people die was a key part of my own Scio-Truman show falling apart.

i also would not go deep into scientology either,
i have only read the book, but i have one thought why did you stay 30 years if it was so bad and cult like. we all still make our own choices, no one can contol us if we chose not to be a part of it. dont get me wrong tory i sympathize to your concerns and i do believe you have a right to follow your mission to help others, that i am in favor of! god bless

~~FOUND IT!~~the first hubbie of Ms. Preston, together, had a son who was severly disabled and it was given to Ms. Prestons mother and stepfather to raise~~they sued for custody and the mother works in the mental health system in Hawaii and the information about this child has disappered from all the biographies of the celebrties and the child had/has? Fragile X syndrone~~(allegedly)~~$cientology loves to sue and ban information~~and can make illness DISAPPEAR!!!~~until you wake up dead~~

Tommy Davis, C of S's Spokesperson, lies through his teeth, saying "It's the policy of C of S for someone with a medical condition to take their medication". Then change CCHR's page on how all Scientologists are drug free. Stop lying. You're not OT 7, so you don't even know what I'm speaking of!
I fought these people from 1972 on, re medications.
IF they've changed, thank God. I doubt it, behind closed doors.

You heard he was on depakote. He was as a child but they took him off it & never introduced any other AEDs. There are over 50 AEDs & over 300 monotheraphy AEDs.
I have lived with epilepsy for 10 years, have not only suffered but watched my parents actually thank doctors i'm still alive after a severe seizure & now it's come out Jett had an epileptic seizure & had an uncontrolled history. His parents should ask themselves why they allowed their insane cult to determine the safety of their child.
