  • did you also add the scraping of the door hinges?

  • You forgot the poster on the front but i digress now build the inside and make the inside bigger then the outside

  • Now, your next task is to make it bigger on the inside.

  • thanks man your helpful

  • Other people build boats into bottles. You build awesomeness. Simply fantastic!

  • Really cool, your a great craftsman, or wait is this David tennant? Noo way.

  • Were you born badass enough to make this, or did you have to work to become this freaking amazing?

  • @emgrace55 It's work, definitely work... ;)

  • how much did it cost ya for the wood roughly i was going to build one....

  • fantastic project.

  • That's awesome. Simply awesome.

  • do you have any instructions you could write down for me?

  • wow !! I want to build one of these for my kids, you have done a fantastic job! do you have an email addrss where I can contact you?

    Thanks John

  • @JohnHammondTVPres : Contact me through the website, via my channel page...

  • THAT IS SO REALISTIC IF SALL THAT BY MY HOUSE I WOULD GO UP TO IT AND OPEN IT!! THATS EPIC!!!! POST A TUTORIAL

  • If I saw that on the corner of my street Id Yell "Holy Shit' The TARDIS!"

  • That is beatiful!

  • Holy cow that tardis looks like the real thing

  • I want one, this is very beautiful! :D

  • beautiful

  • is it bigger on the inside? that would be so cool if it was

  • This is beautiful.

  • I am making one of these for the backgarden to be used as a shed lol or maybe not i cannot decide yet, its to go with my space invader patio set both of which i shall be filming to put on here step by step.

  • WANT!

  • I missed the part where you added the little phone door. You should post something of it. :D

  • How much did it cost over-all to build? Wood and paint and such.

  • @xxButterflyLoverxx I would budget about $1000 for the project - the wood and paint really don't cost that much, but the tools required, and correction of errors adds substantially to the cost.

  • @shobley What sort of tools did you use?

  • @xxButterflyLoverxx 50 dollars

  • Hi

I have been trying to build a Tardis but I need help. Do you have any blueprints you could pass on?

    Thanks

  • I thought your suppose to grow them, not build TARDISES and.... I think you got the inside a little wrong lol

  • could you maybe make a tutorial for this???? because i REALLY want one.

  • It's amazing! Where do you get the room for all of this stuff? Now, how are you going to move it?

  • Nice Tardis & beautiful music.

  • how much do you want for it if its for sale email me dibwho@hotmail.co.uk

  • How long did it take you to build it?

  • Is this a McGann box? I admit I am having trouble placing it. Looks most like a McGann, I think, but, in a way, nicer, like a very nice custom build (McGann or Hartnell/Troughton of course. Boxes were very similar, but I think the colour is very McGann-ish).

By Smith box is nearly finished. Just got to finish off the windows and sign-boxes, then, apart from a few small details, it's there :)

  • @SuperRichi1A Yes it's based heavily on the McGann box - I finished this in 2004, before the new series came out. I followed the basic dimensions of the Davison fibreglass box, but used McGann pictures for finishing and details.

  • Thanks for the help :D

  • Yes I have a build guide - the dimensions I got from a drawing I found online. Give me a couple of days and I can send them to you.

The light on top was made from a lens bought from a local hardware store - it is actually just a little too small. The lights are all controlled via X10 - so they can blink and flash via computer control.

  • Also did you make the police light boxes that go around the top or were they made by the sign shop you mention? If you made then what did you do to make them?

  • @TheDoctorsTardis The signs were designed in Ilustrator and made by a sign shop

  • Ive been trying to build a TARDIS and so I have a couple of questions for you:

    1. do you have any blueprints or plans of any sort up on the web someplace(or a parts list)? or know of a site were i could find some?

    2. what did you use for the light at the top? also did you set it to blink/strobe?

Thank you for any help you can give.

  • is this for sale as i have been looking for one for years and have never found one and i even tryed to build one once but didnt get far plz email me at rolotwist@hotmail.co.uk

  • @batkieran12 Unfortunately not - I think the shipping alone would be a crazy price.

I put too much effort into it to sell it.

  • is this for sale as i have been looking for one for years and have never found one and i even tryed to build one once but didnt get far

  • Oh, WAY niger on the inside. UBC and the Rocky Mountains currently occupy on room in the tardis.

    :O

  • Pulling your remaining leg there. What are you using for energy?

I've tried coffee, UBC students and genuine baby oil, made of course from genuine babies, but I still get that snapback backwashing effect at light. Whatever...thats my design anyway

It works, it's just really expensive to run. Does time, does space, can move around really quickly. It's just super expensive. Every time I run it my head caves in, LOL.

So what does yours run on?

Yes,s..I AM making fun of you.You AND "Doctor Hawking"

  • How do you get yours to travel through time and space? Don't you get that massive backwash effect when you trip light barrier? My TARDIS rocks. Turned a cassette tape into such an international big deal that it firt nicely inside. Fortunately for everyone else, tou enter MY tardis as a tape case, and emerge inside, where it's huge. Wasn't the effect that they went for on the show, but go in thru the TARDIS as a tape intop of Chars fridge, see how big it is.

  • There is a contest for the best built TARDIS

  • That is totaly AWESOME!!

  • I want a TARDIS in my house now....

  • that wasnt a waste of money at all

  • That's amazing! I wish I had a TARDIS! :D

  • @ingravegreen i agree

  • @ingravegreen I could say the same thing to your parents every time they feed you.

  • The major part I'm confused about is how you joined the posts to the base... they seem like very weak joints the way you constructed them. Are the posts just "toed in" to the base, or is there some kind of support to keep it structurally together?

  • @silivrenion That's a really good question - initially the posts were attached to the 3 side panels, and the side panels were dropped into slots on the base. So nothing was holding them to the base apart from gravity.

Later I installed some metal brackets to the base of each post and this keeps them firmly attached

  • Ok so you built one....but now you gotta make it bigger on the inside

  • @jonsparrow I was joking - I learned a lot about woodworking if nothing else. So it really wasn't a "wast" after all

  • Is it possible to send me some plans because I am going to build one but I don't know the dimentions. I think it is very cool

  • @ingravegreen you dont get it

  • is the tardis in front of a door?

  • Hi,

I am looking to build a TARDIS for a school Major woodwork project and I was wondering if you could please help me out by sending me the basic outline, and specifications of your TARDIS so I can get a rough Idea what I'm dealing with, would be great if you could respond soon.

    Cheers

  • Hmm. It's be cool if you made one of these, but with it's very back wall missing. Then you could put it in front of an entryway to another room, and it would seem like it was '"bigger on the inside"!

Look hella hard to create though.

  • @HyperHanyoGal780 i was thinking about that in my future mansion...

  • @HyperHanyoGal780

Oh, people have done that alright. Heck, "Scarfwearer" went the whole hog and built a complete console room replica behind it!

  • All you need now is Dimention which will fit inside.

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!!!

  • proper job... well done.

  • can i buy it?

  • im am making a tardis exept its going to be the complete inside and the police public call box please post cooments on my channel!how tall is the box

  • @ingravegreen It is a huge wast of money, but then so is cable television.

  • @shobley heck id pay someone to make me one. not a waste. anyone in arizona lol?

  • excellent build and woodmanship. especially love the use of the weightlifting equipment

  • A brilliant and skillful effort! Well done. I know my eleven year old daughter would love this design in her room!

  • A brilliant and skillful effort! Well done. I know my eleven year old daughter would love this design in her room!

  • Wow well done, i love it, its just missing the "Pull To Open" door sign! ITS GREAT!

  • Very impressive! Are you willing to share dimensions, notes, tips, etc? I'm looking to something a little less elaborate to start with, but would love any advice/help. For my first project, I'm hoping for something sectional that can be quickly reassembled in different parts of a festival each day, then moved the following morning to a new location. Any thoughts?

  • @Mrembree : I have some plans I can send you - they don't have dimensions as this stuff is copyrighted. But the elevations are available online. Send me an email through my blog and I'll get them to you.

  • @shobley Thanks for the quick response. Feel free to send anything to jared.embree@wright.edu. I look forward to hearing from you, and you've inspired me to start making youtube videos of this project. :-)

  • EPIC! You are the man. Im working on my own but I have come to an impass... what sign shop carries the Police Box signs?

  • @Bladesmith79 I designed the signs using Arial font I think, then just took the files along to a sign shop (Signarama) and had them make them up as black opaque film over white translucent plastic. Not very expensive.

Then I wired 12" fluorescent tubes inside the cavity.

  • when you get the chance would you mind sending me a message with the dimensions and materials im pretty keen to make my own.

  • hi iv been thinking about building a tardis door way basicly building a box with the back end cut out would this work? im not shure if a tardis would fit in an avrage door

  • This is great work. Completion must have been thrilling.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Very impressive!

  • is this music EMF ?

  • Also, You should put your house phone behind the sign where the phone would normally go!

  • That's the best I've seen on YouTube!!

  • wow is bigger on the inside!!!!! nice job !!! respect!

  • Brilliantly done! How did you figure all that out?! Absolutely epic.

  • How did you attach the corner posts and doors to the base? That seems to be the only thing not covered in the manual.

  • @SuperRichi1A Take a look at 1:22 - that's how I did it. Not bulletproof but it works

  • @shobley Thanks ;)

  • @shobley And, did you do that to the walls and posts, and then repeated the process to attach the whole thing to the base?

  • It's not bigger on the inside :O(

  • thats sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very very awesome!- though what do you do with it now?? lol

i want to build one- i have the wood skill and the wood- but i just don't know where the hell i'd put the thing- there huge!

  • very nice, we've built our own if u'd care to take a look :)

  • That is cool as hell!

  • totally amazing. you must have considerable woodworking skills?

  • @hiseminencegris They got better over time :-)

When I started I had no clue what to do, but it's amazing how a good project hones your skills...

  • It looks great, how much did it cost to build it???

  • @TheEd32 Not that much, although I did buy all the tools too. There was a great guy at Home Depot that did all the big cuts for me. I used to get over there at 8am on Sundays when there was no-one around.

  • @TheEd32 about $1000 in total

  • @shobley Dang. i was hoping for a little bit less. lol I wanted to make one next year as a project.

  • hey great build is that the tardis from 1960s or another time either way i love the way you build good luck next time

  • Hey dude. Verry cool TARDIS you made there. I have made my own one too. I have posted a video response to this video of my one being put together. Hope ya like it! Althought my Police Box Sign doesnt light up :-( lol.

  • As fan-built TARDISes go...that's probably the best one I've seen so far. I am currently building one, almost finished the corner posts. Don't know how I'll do the rest, eg, the PB signs and the slanted roof, so any help or tips you have would be great! :)

  • Go to my site and send me an email - I can send you a PDF that has a lot of great info on TARDIS building.

  • should have used Clockwork Tardis as the soundtrack

  • good choice of soundtrack

  • i am prepared to buy that of you lol

  • Did you Keep the tardis?

  • American Doctor Who fan! YES! I'm also American and I love Doctor Who

  • Same.

  • so cool

  • awesome vid, well done :) Tardis looks awesome, but I must say, such a trippy soundtrack to this vid! LoL

  • could you maybe put the dimensions and the materials on the info box? thanx

  • luv it

  • lady tardis looks sexy at night all lit up. well done

  • That is so cool i have subscribed to your videos

  • i wish i had a tardis the easiest way for me isto buy a police box

  • This is absolutely awesome. Considering finding instructions online to build one and asking my dad to help me out. Only fault i could point out is that the light on top should be blue if im not mistaken... But really, well done!

  • It is blue, its just that all the light from it makes it look white.

Anyway, well done! Could you please send me all the dimensions? I'm planning on doing the same :D

  • the last picture looks like the one they use in the real doctor who episodes!! well in

  • nice job! awesome!

  • This is absolutely amazing. Could you show me some instructions? I'd also like to know what the doctor who group was called. Thanks, Carrotaco177

  • There are TARDIS build manuals out there, check with Google.

Back in the day I was a member of the "TARDIS builders group" we all helped each other out and contributed to the manual.

Of course now there's a new TARDIS, I wish I'd built one like that...

  • very well done, how long did it take you to build this? *applauds*

  • fantastic
