  • Very nice, Slim I miss you soooo much.

  • The bloody 2010 Federal Election Campaign is less than 3 hrs old (Sat 17/7) & already, Michael Kroger .. that idiot Liberal political hack & brain-dead arsehole from Melbourne (& friend of Costello & uber-spoilt life-long out-of-touch rich-kid brat) .. has already blotted his copybook, bigtime. This bastard Kroger has today slandered our legend Slim unforgiveably .. calling Slim's song "Looking Forward Looking Back" a medoicre piece of work (in trying to lamely attack Labor's election slogan).

  • Great song, very special to me and my family.

  • Love Ya Slim!!

  • I can't believe he's been gone 7 years it seems like yesterday.

  • you are a legend slim...thanks for making us aussies proud..we miss you mate..

  • aussie aussie aussie!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zboik13 oi oi oi!!!!!

  • When Slim Dusty wrote this song, it's as if he knew his time in this world was nearly over. :-( Still, although he is gone, his music will live on for a long time yet. :-)

  • @DC4916

A bit like that 'Hurt' Johnny Cash's (but happier), a true reflection and a memorable song.

  • R.I.P slim

  • Great as everything from Slim

  • he looks like my uncle buster

  • This song is superb.

  • And...what's the yank really on about. I heard on tonight's news (8th Jan 2010) that there was another securuty airport breech over there today. We should ban US ban tourism before it turns into terrorism.

  • Thanks for your support techkra, I appreciate that. The thing is the bitch who commented on my page re Slim Dusty is 27 and obviously doesn't know what's going on in her own country. Incidentally I just read a post on your channel by a yank, username Cyber Tallon. Hasn't he got more hangups than a fucken art gallery . Keep in touch bud.

  • Slim could have written us a national anthum and made the muslims and other non conformists of this great country learn it, sing it in schools or they can fuck off back home. When are we going to get a government to act in the best interests of ALL Australians? RIP Slim.

  • 7272257, Yes I to love Slim Dusty's music. But there is no need for racism because someone has migrated to Australia dosn't mean he or she is going to blow the place to the shithole. Give everyone a fair go and treat them equally; those people have most likely come from that (people blowing their country to the shithole) and dont want to cause the people here any pain they've gone through.

  • MEGACBX you are totaly right my friend.

  • Megacbx it's not about what there gunna do. it's the fact that so many men served and died under our flag to keep people out and now we just let them in.

  • well said. im in total agreement.

  • muy lindo realmente. gracias a Johny Cash, conoci el amor por la musica country y me sigue gustando cada ves mas. Gracias a America del Norte por tan bonita musica. Julian Cruz, Castro.

  • I miss old uncle Slim,

  • i tell ya what,Australia as we know it ,died with Slim that day, look around, and tell me it aint so,your got the muslims and the doo gooders pushin changes that can't be fixed,i say fuck off back to where ever and leave us alone or else you'll wake the sleepin dog.

  • you are so right mate.i'm an aussie truckie of 30 years, and this shit breaks my fucken heart.

  • @Rogerbradly

Yes my friend, thats all very true what you say. People like Slim we wre are now missing sooo much. But how the situation should be changed?

  • Yes great song! Slim was very sad that Australia was falling apart towards the end, with mass immigration of peoples who had no interest in the Anglo/celtic way of life. He thought Islam was the devil itself and all he saw towards the end was sadness for Australia. He wanted us to reconnect with the other dominions the Mother land especially UK,Canada NZ as one. But the commies wont let that happen divide and conquer! Slim was one a great of the earthy salty sea shanty English sailor types of old

  • @Rogerbradly i agree i got nothing against what race someone is but when you move to another country you have to respect Laws and Traditions not bring your own the thing that annoys me with The muslim religion is that they get offended very easy and go all suicidal and shit because someone for fun took a shot a Muhammad well its our Aussie right to do so. This is Australia women are free to feel and dress how they want to.

  • G'day i'm a rel of Slim, and its a damn shame how they (kempsey council)let his billboard nth of Frederickton fade, shame (money grubers ) shame

  • Slim Dusty, an Australian legend that will never be equaled.

2 thumbs up mate, your a legend.

This by far is the greatest song,

    Dave.

  • Just after Slim died I found out through my Mum who is a nursing home nurse, that Slim used to do a annual concert for the residents.

He received no payment or any fanfare,he just did it for them and other nursing homes.

  • I've sent this link to Liza, my American friend who does not like country music. Thought I would treat her to Slim - as a comparison.

I'm not a great follower of country myself, but have enjoyed for decades, the many Australians doing their version of Country.

Slim reminds me so much of my grandfather in looks and greatness of a human. When I was young, Granddad and I would jam together - he with banjo and I with a Les Paul copy.

    RIP Slim and Granddad

  • This song takes me right back to an old bush shanty pub in Laura, Far North Queensland ;sitting out the 'wet' sipping an ice cold beer listening to Slim Dusty songs on the old juke box and listening to old yarns from old retired ringers, aboriginal stockmen, bush jockeys and publicans. A privellege for a travelling Pom to taste a bit of bush living and getting to chat with people who lived Australia's bush history. There is a little bit of me still there whenever I hear this song.

  • slim dusty is a real true blue aussie legend.

My uncle was a true gentleman farmer, a noble and loving family man, and now this song will always remind me of him. Well done Andrew for making such a heartfelt and beautiful tribute.
