  • Christopher Hitchens is my hero.

  • the bible is like 3000 pages and countless verses.. and the only thing some people seem to pay attention to is the gay thing thats barely even mentioned... dumb asses!

  • Christopher Hitchens is a real friend. He accepts you unconditionally. Not like some fake Christian friend who is only your friend because he feels sorry for you and thinks you're "sinning", while being a complete hypocrite and at the same time "sinning" more than you are.

  • It's rare that youtube clip makes me genuinely smile, but this one is beautiful.

  • HITCHSLAPPP!!!!!!

  • Foolish man died in his sin, unforgiven, anger, proud, sick mind and cause for fall of many. He is in hell now and must be praying to God for second chance. I hate such guy who don't accept God nor let accept others. So shame and ridiculous.

  • @realtyofislam Just like a typical theist: judgmental, hateful, and condemning of others who choose to live differently. This may disappoint you, but Hitchens isn't in Hell for it doesn't exist, and the only praying going on regarding this notion is your own unknown practice at soliloquy. Have fun living in fear and ignorance.

  • @realtyofislam

You believe all that because your parents/pastor/religious text told you so. You don't know if Hell is real or not and you never will until you die like the rest of us. Stop being afraid and start living for once in your life.

  • @realtyofislam LOL! If your a Christian... your meant to forgive... So nice job failing to follow your own stupid religion there mate

  • @realtyofislam With this comment, truly, the "reality of islam" can be seen. Course minded, dim witted, ready to speak of love, while delighting in hate, you are a discredit to your faith.

  • ahahahhha

  • Hitchens - my hero.

  • how can the legendary stephen fry be reduced to 'gay friend'

  • i had a woman and a man for parents, and i had a fucked up childhood... whos to say any two human beings cant raise a child... The only criticism people should get is whether theyre good people or not

  • hes not just his gay friend but stephen fry, a really great actor and more greater than some of the straight ones really

  • I've never heard such an eloquent defense for homosexuality as well as such a vehement attack on the evils of bigotry. Bravo Christopher. While I never knew you and you no longer corporeally exist, your books will retain you here for quite a long time.

  • @HelFKiernan

There are intrinsic morals. It doesn't matter what you interpret the Bible as commanding, there are just things we know to be wrong. Rape falls under the adultery category and is also wrong for mal intent, which goes for lots of sins. The OT is a record of how people have failed. If you want to know how to act, look at Jesus. Gays seek society's approval because their conscience gives them indispositions. Whats the difference between civil union and marriage? Only the title & money.

  • @shootmek The difference is that marriage is recognized at a federal level, where civil unions are purely local. Even if you have a state-level civil union, it does no good in another state. It also does no good in the case of a person whose partner is from outside the country; a marriage will allow that person to stay in the US while a civil union will not. If civil union is recognized at the federal level and includes all the rights of marriage, I wouldn't care what they called it.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah Not having read one book does not prove I don't read. As far as I can see he has never publicly admitted to being gay (having occasional homosexual encounters is NOT the same thing as actually being gay. Many people just enjoy experimentation. I don't really expect you to grasp the distinction between these two things but I thought I'd point it out anyway).

The rest of your comment is utterly worthless given that you know nothing whatsoever about me. Go away.

  • @ecureuil85 My point is that you take this dead mans word to trust your immortal soul to and yet you do not even know what he stood for. That is just incredibly risky.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah 1) Hitch has nothing whatsoever to do with my immortal soul. He was a great man and a free thinker, and for that reason I have nothing but respect for him. Why you seem to think that puts me at risk is beyond me. 2) It's pretty damn clear what he stood for. 3) Stop trying to convert me. Or anyone, actually. It's irritating.

  • @ecureuil85 Hitchinson to you was a great person only because he was a talking head on a TV you never even read his works so you are just taking other aethiests word for it then. No it is not clear what he stood for at all that is why intelligent people read others books so they know.

What would ever give you the impression I want to convert you? I can not convert anyone who is not of YESHUA's flock.

Oh I get it you don't realize that your posts are easy fodder and poorly thought.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah Intelligent people like you, you mean? You appear unable even to read his name correctly. Congratulations. It is clear that he opposed organised religion and was doing all he could to encourage a secular society based on reason. He did so in a calm (usually) and eloquent manner which is to be admired. To clarify, I have read much of his work. Trying to discredit my arguments by implying that I am unintelligent doesn't make you sound any less of a fool.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah "Oh I get it you don't realize that your posts are easy fodder and poorly thought."

Couldn't have put it better myself.

  • @ecureuil85 I know you could not have said it better because I said it already you silly person.

  • @HelFKiernan YeshuaisShekinah if you believe it to be fact then the burden of proof is on you to prove that it is fact, not on someone else to prove that it is not fact. There are many resources outside the Youtube comments section that demonstrate that the Bible is fictional. You display your own ignorance of the text by using a misinterpretation of it to try to prove your irrational fear and hatred of homosexuals. Regardless of any ancient boks, such hate, prejudice, discrimination is immoral.

  • @HelFKiernan LOL you aethists are hillarious! Go read Hitch-22 where your hero tells in lurid detail how he enjoyed the intrusion of other men in his person.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah I'm not an atheist. I'm just less of an idiot than you.

  • @ecureuil85 Well I am glad to hear you converted to gnosticism then.

  • I hope god forgives him, even if he doesn't deserve it.

  • What Christians often miss is that simply being gay is not a sin. If you acted on it and thought sexually perverse thoughts, that would be a sin, but so would looking at a woman lustfully. Matt 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." However, the Bible does not permit marriage except between a man and a woman. They were created to fit together... in more ways than one.

  • Of course he had gay "friends" and no wife. Typical he led a hedonistic lifestyle speaking against GOD then dies of throat cancer.

How much proof do you people need?

  • @YeshuaisShekinah That makes so much sense. SO much more sense than him developing throat cancer after BEING A HEAVY SMOKER FOR 40 YEARS. He was also married with children. Google would have told you that. Well done.

  • @ecureuil85 While others like George Burns smoked for 85 years and die at over 100 years old. You see what you want to see, and it is leading you to damnation.

Accept Yeshua into your life and start waking up to the TRUTH.

  • @ecureuil85 May I ask how long was Mr.Hitchens divorced before he started retaining gay friends?

  • @YeshuaisShekinah I'm pretty sure he's had gay friends for most of his adult life. As have I, by the way. That does not imply homosexuality. I haven't had the pleasure of reading Hitch 22 yet, does that make me uneducated? No. You are the one implying that his death was a punishment from God for whatever lifestyle he chose (which is none of your damn business, by the way). Of course I don't know you, but that smacks of ignorance and idiocy to me.

  • @ecureuil85 Actually since Mr.Hitchens put himself in the spotlight espousing uneducated opinions on any media he could it makes his life all of our business.

What use is a man that says one thing with his mouth and does another with his hand?

Go read your hero's book and find out for yourself that he was a homosexual, it would certainly explain his passive aggressive whiney attitude.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah Firstly, he may have been open and experimental - and open-mindedness is no bad thing, you should try it sometime - but if Hitchens was homosexual he would have come right out and said so, and proudly. Secondly, even the fact that he was a public figure doesn't stop his personal life from being NOBODY'S BUSINESS BUT HIS OWN. Thirdly... you may not agree with his work, but the fact that you call him "uneducated" exposes you as a bit of a moron.

  • @ecureuil85 I will tell you right now, homosexuality is an abomination before GOD. It is used as a punishment on wicked nations to bring them low. That is not an opinion either that is a historical fact. Say hello to Sodom and Gomorrah.

  • @YeshuaisShekinah A historical fact based on a fictional book you see the dichotomy surely

  • @cal1234567 If you are making the claim that the Bible is fiction I am sure you can prove it otherwise you would look like an idiot for stating your opinion as fact.

So where is your proof, that is irrefutable?

  • @YeshuaisShekinah There is nothing but proof that it is fiction there is no existence of anything contrary to this. Name me some, you talk of sodom and gomorrah being a historical fact because it is mentioned in the bible. Now by that logic Hogwarts must be historical fact because its in a harry potter book, both have spells and magicians who can conjure things and tell the story of "good" vs "evil" the only difference is their age. Who knows in another 2000 years Potterism could be a religion

  • @YeshuaisShekinah Whether or not you believe in God, I give you enough credit to realise that the bible itself was written by human beings. Probably flawed, relatively ignorant human beings with an agenda, for a society very far removed from our own. Since it was first written it has been cut, censored, translated, re-translated (often, we now know, incorrectly) and you expect me to believe every letter, live by every word rather than my own moral compass? I don't think so pal.

  • @ecureuil85 Maybe you need to go read Hitch-22 my unread and uneducated friend.

  • :47

    bitch is not happy.

  • Love the people in the front row getting uncomfortable about that statement.

  • R.I.P. Chris

  • silly africans in the front row. Oh, to drink the kool aid-how sweet it is

  • To all the people talking about coloured people being homophobic: race does not dictate your views on sexuality. If you can bring racism into a debate about homophobia, then your views are still disgusting. Racism and homophobia are disgusting things. As are people who hold those views.

  • Look how homophobic blacks are lol

  • I can't stop laughing at the homophobe africans reaction in the front row

  • Can someone write down the whole sentence with the babysitter that Mr. Hitchens utters at the end ? I would be grateful, because I'm not English and still honing my language proficiency...:-)

  • @warhols25 "and if anyone came to my door as a babysitter wearing holy orders, i'd call first a cab and then the police"

  • @warhols25 "when my children were young I would have been proud to have Steven as their babysitter and ill tell them they were lucky, and if anyone came to my door as a babysitter wearing holy orders id call first a cab and then the police" that's what Christopher said as far as i can tell

  • @OFswag666 Thank You a hundred times, my beautiful stranger ! :-)

  • @warhols25 lol you are very welcome a million times ;D

  • Interesting reaction from the front row at 0:45

  • fanatic theists say that we (atheists) are the sinners, but atleast atheists dont kill pastors or bomb churches like you see fanatics do on bombing abortion clinics and killing doctors, i dontind if people follow a god but its the discrimination fanatics that troll atheist videos that make my blood boil

  • dumb theists ;)

  • It's funny because religious people touch children.....

  • Just fantastic, Hitch! The world should learn...

  • question for evolutionists, if homosexuality is not a learned behaviour and it is in fact innate and existed since the beginning of time, why have we not evolved as a species to be able to reproduce with the same sex? Furhtermore, sodomy actually significantly increases one's chances of developing colon cancer because the anus isn't fit for the purpose. Please explain

  • @MounopanoTheGreat You have no idea how evolution works. Evolution operates on reproduction. If gays aren't reproducing, how can evolution operate on that?

And any problem you have with sodomy being used as an argument against homosexuality is automatically invalid. Why? Because you exclude at LEAST half of the homosexual population. At best it's an argument against MALE homosexuality, but it's not even good enough for that, so don't bother.

  • @ninjajesus81 you're talking shit! That would mean that a trait can only evolve when already in existence, which counters the argument of evolution! I've not passed a moral judgement on homosexuality btw, i'm simply saying it's a learned behaviour rather than something that is innate

  • @MounopanoTheGreat The ability of two men or two women to reproduce together would be a HUGE change to the species. It wouldn't be just one trait that evolves by chance.

But your idea is wrong before you even got started explaining it. Homosexuality has prenatal biological causes, including genetics and hormones. That's scientific research, look it up and stop proposing your own theories that are based on absolutely no science whatsoever.

  • @ninjajesus81 that's complete bullshit. There are numerous high profile women (athletes) with high levels of testosterone that are heterosexual. And there's no reliable evidence whatsoever to suggest genetics are are involved. Let me ask you, why is it that feral children are neither heterosexual nor homosexual when they are exposed to humans? Surely the environment of their upbringing would be irrelevant if it was all innate. It is an issue of nurture not nature

  • @MounopanoTheGreat So female athletes who increase their testosterone through athletics don't turn homosexual? Really? Listen, I said prenatal hormones. That means before birth.

And there is reliable evidence that genetics are involved. Stop saying things you're making up on the spot and acting like they're facts. Why do you do that?

Twin studies prove there's a link between genetics and homosexuality. Identical twins are more likely to share a sexuality than fraternal twins are.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat Continued... There are also differences in the brain, and mental abilities between homo and heterosexuals.

And are you saying feral children are all asexual? How many feral children have been studied to confirm that?

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'btw, i'm simply saying it's a learned behaviour rather than something that is innate' Which is your flawed assumption and goes against both scientific research and statements from every major medical and psychological association.

  • @thomaseshuis that's bullshit! Up until the 70s homosexuality was considered an abnormal behaviour by the British Psychological Society, this was changed because of political pressure. I'm not saying it's abnormal, but it is a behaviour! Not one single "gay gene" has ever been discovered. As i said to the last guy, if humans are born gay why are feral children not attracted to humans? Surely their environment wouldn't matter if they were born gay!

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'Up until the 70s homosexuality was considered an abnormal behaviour by the British Psychological Society' Worse, it was incorrectly considered a mental disorder.

Homosexuality is abnormal, but so is being left-handed, albino or infertile, are those things wrong too then?

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'this was changed because of political pressure.' This is bullshit and until you provide proof nothing more than ignorant speculation. It was removed from the list of mental disorders because it did not fit the definition.

"but it is a behaviour!" Completely false, homosexuality is the attraction to the opposite sex, not a behaviour.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'Not one single "gay gene" has ever been discovered'

    1. That does not make homosexuality a behaviour.

    2. It also does not make it a choice, there are more biological factors that determine your sexuality and other aspects of you. And yes, there are biological differences between homosexual and heterosexual people.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat And if you won't believe me it's not a choice, listen to the experts, a statement from the American Psychological Association which is also supported by every other major medical and psychological association:

"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation." Continued ...

  • @MounopanoTheGreat "Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation."

  • @thomaseshuis so in other words, there's no evidence whatsoever that people are born gay and they ASSUME it's a complex combination of nurture and nature? I've given you a very real, very observable example of feral children and that's the answer you came up with? That simply feeds into my argument

  • @MounopanoTheGreat `there's no evidence whatsoever that people are born gay` No, you´re reading selectively. There is not conclusive evidence either way. Most scientist agree it is most likely a combination of natural and environmental conditions. Which at leasts rules out homosexuality being a choice.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat ´I've given you a very real, very observable example of feral children ´ No, you haven´t. You have made the claim that feral children are not attracted to other humans.

You have not provided one piece of evidence for this, just a claim.

´That simply feeds into my argument´ No, it actually debunks your assumption that it is a choice. Again your selective reading is not my problem, it´s yours.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat As others already mentioned they have found that homosexuals have a different brain structure and that hormones during pregnancy influence sexuality. so there is indeed evidence for biological factors. You, on the other hand have failed to provide one scientific and peer-reviewed study that shows that homosexuality is a choice.

You are the one making assumptions.

  • @thomaseshuis peer-reviewed studies in the modern day would never deal with something like this, it's too controversial. In the same way that they wouldn't deal with intelligence between races for instance. So i challenge you to contact any scientist that says that homosexuality is innate &ask them to explain why feral children are not attracted to either sex. No gay gene has ever been found &hormones don't play a role in attraction, otherwise sexuality would reversable

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'eer-reviewed studies in the modern day would never deal with something like this, it's too controversial' Another false assumption of yours.

Swaab DF, Chung WC, Kruijver FP, Hofman MA, Ishunina TA., "Sexual differentiation of the human hypothalamus", Adv Exp Med Biology, 2002;511:75-100; discussion 100-5

avic I, Garcia-Falgueras A, Swaab DF., "Sexual differentiation of the human brain in relation to gender identity and sexual orientation", Prog Brain Res., 2010;186:41-62.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'So i challenge you to contact any scientist that says that homosexuality is innate &ask them to explain why feral children are not attracted to either sex.'

Shifting the burden of proof won't work on me.

You are claiming feral children aren't attracted to either sex, you haven't presented a single scientific and peer-reviewed study that states this.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat '&hormones don't play a role in attraction' These studies prove you wrong:

Exp Clin Endocrinol. 1983 Jan;81(1):83-7. Stressful events in prenatal life of bi- and homosexual men. Dorner G, Schenk B, Schmiedel B, Ahrens L.

Dohler, KD, "The pre- and postnatal influence of hormones and neurotransmitters on sexual differentiation of the mammalian hypothalamus", Int Rev Cytology, 1991;131:1-57.

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'otherwise sexuality would reversable' No, because it is the influence of hormones on the development of the brain of foetuses, not on full-grown brains.

  • @thomaseshuis everything you just said is an assumption! The high levels of oestrogen, for instance, in pregnant women more often than not leads a child to be heterosexual. There are varying stats but most people believe that between 2-5% of the population in the US & UK is gay, the "feminine hormones" are a lot more prevelant. You're making stupid assumptions!

  • @MounopanoTheGreat 'actually significantly increases one's chances of developing colon cancer because the anus isn't fit for the purpose' Anal sex increases that risk, something which is neither inherently nor exclusively a homosexual form of sex.

There is no scientific and peer-reviewed study that shows that homosexuality itself increases the risk for diseases.

  • OUCH!!!

  • @Zaxxen69 don't know but it would be nice to find out that you were.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zaxxen69 You must be a closet gay. Its the only explanation for your frustration

  • Meanwhile he had no problem murdering hundreds of thousands of Iraqi kids.. What a twit.

  • BAM

  • i have seen the whole debate, hitchens and fry are unstoppable! its poetic to watch them put catholisism to complete shame

  • Go Fry! Go Hitch!

  • "christopher hitchens defends gay friend"

    LOLOLOLOLLOLLOLLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOL.

  • I can't help but think how cool it would've been if Stephen Fry was my babysitter

  • @spazmo7 I wish he was my dad. One of the world's biggest tragedies is that he will never father children.

  • "retarded" is an epithet against people with disabilities

  • Imagine debating Hitchens and Fry. That's like looking down the double barrel of a shotgun.

  • i have a HUGE crush on Mr Hitchens<3 muah!

  • @carey579 me too, there is just something about him

  • 0:43 you can tell stupid old cunts are displeased

  • @pickupthePWN well they can go rape some alter boys LOL

  • Gay friend? That's Stephen Fry your talking about, one of the UK's national treasures.

  • @AlexRichardVocat THANK YOU.

  • @AlexRichardVocat I second and he is the ninth wonder of the wolrd also XD reply made 3 months later lol XD I have a instinct now that the loling has took all seriousness out of this statement despite me meaning what I say :P well type

  • @AlexRichardVocat Who is gay :O

  • @AlexRichardVocat Yes, who happens to be a friend of Christopher Hitchens', and who also happens to be gay!

  • @AlexRichardVocat Stephen Fry is not a national treasure. He is, as a journalist whom I cannot name said, "A stupid persons idea of a smart person". I find him to have very little to say on anything other than the typical liberal bullshit he is expected to say. There are far, far better people in the UK who don't get a fraction of the admiration this guy gets for reading prompts on a TV show.

  • @Riiye according to you and some "unnamed journalist." lol.

  • @Riiye Paul Krugman said that about Newt Gingrich. Dan Abrams said that about Keith Olbermann. Douches on Youtube said that about alot of people. Fry graduated first in his class at Cambridge, frauds don't do that...

  • Simple truth.
