We get these here in California. Trust me, when you see a black wasp with orange wings....you carefully, slowly, back away until you're out of range, and then you run for the nearest building. Those things are not only one of the most painful stings on earth, but they're like 2 inches long

@TheAmity9 Some wasps are able to spray their venom with their stinger, without directly injecting it. It looks like we can add Pepsis formosa sp. to that list.

It seems to aim for the spider's eyes. This is so effective that the wasp is then able to leave for a time, looking for a suitable place to bury its victim. Only later will it return and actually sting the helpless spider, before dragging it off.

Think it over--the bullet ant glove ritual, done by some outsiders, the hand goes into glove with at least 100 ants, most or all sting, recovery in 3 days yet one BA sting is said to be more severe than 1 TH? Can the people putting on the glove come back from 100 TH stings? Not likely when it's worse than a red wasp, and 30 red wasps can kill. Sheer pain can kill by overwhelming the nervous system (shock).
