  • 3:30 you can just push "S" hold "SHIFT" down and spam the mousebutton :) I learned that before Day9 noticed it too XD

  • @crazymuppet3 stop sucking ;:(

  • does anyone know a group of people like a guild or clan I can play SC2 with? I am pretty new to SC in general and could use some advice and tips please respond!

  • Very helpfull!!! You rock man.

  • thanks a lot for that tutorial! i play starcraft 2 for a week now and this really helped me a lot! if i were you, i would have mentionned that you can switch between presettings of hotkeys! but anyway, awesome tutorial!

  • husky, could you just hold shift and warp in units? or do you have to press the hotkey for each unit you warp in

  • There is no way to "remove" a unit from a group, all you can do is to redefine the hotkey, without that unit in it. So say you select a bunch of stuff as Control group 1. But, you have a probe in there. What you do is, you press 1, so in your bar you see all the units that are in control group one. Then you shift click on the little square icon for the probe (or probes) that you don't want in your group. Now that you've only selected units you want, press Ctrl + 1 again (not shift).

  • i use tab to get to my stalkers ( 0.52 )

  • @PukeOfThePukes also i push S once and then shift, then just spam youre ass off... ( 3.33 )

  • THANKS , I can't believe I've been playing for so long without knowing all this info.

  • hd hotkey hotkey !

  • In the options menu (Menu>Options>Gameplay), you can disable control groups clickability and will only be activated by hotkeys. Actually, I never tried this, that's my guess.

  • @FC1032 Opps *now

  • Thankyou so much Husky! Really want to start getting good at starcraft and didn't have a clue about any of the hotkey techniques.

  • their not that important

  • Great tutorial husky looking forward to figuring out how to put all this together.. I tend to panic and forget things as I play but hopefully these hotkeys will make things a bit smoother

  • how do you deselect?

  • you deselected a bunch of times but you didn't say how to deselect, so how do you deselect?

  • i just beat very hard my 1st try ;D. Now where's my cookie?!!?

  • @Barni747 ftw !

  • Thanks dude very new to starcraft and this was priceless!

  • @Attest2Sin Indeed. Even tho I have been playing for month as a toss, i still found something new :D

  • he said that you probably won't learn anything if you already know the hotkeys and how to play. I know the hot keys. I know how to play. Yet I watched this anyway.

  • thx~

  • @HuskyStarcraft can't you hold the hotkey to warp in units just like to use forcefield?

I mean, hold the hotkey and 'spam' the mouse....

  • How do you remove a unit from a hotkey group?

  • @bigtymer9778 You deselect the unit you don't want and then rebind the group.

  • @bigtymer9778 put it on its own hotkey

  • @bigtymer9778 You select the group, and then hold shift, click the unit, and then make a new control group without the unit ;)

  • @bigtymer9778 Killing the unit

  • @bigtymer9778 replace the hotkey group

  • @bigtymer9778 yeah how do u do that?

  • @bigtymer9778 control shiftand press on the unit in the hotkey if ur removing just a couple of stalkers from your stalker group u just press shift and click on some stalkers

  • @egill4a what do you mean? Is it control + shift or is it just shift?

  • @bigtymer9778 shift click while you are selecting the control group

  • Thank you for the amazing tips Husky!

My friend was kinnda helpful, but now I can try hotkeys, and she'll be wondering how i got so good. :3

  • @minimeroxz1997 Man I wish I had a friend that played computer games, All they play is xbox and ps3 and think it's un-cool to computer game, they don't know what they are missing out on, I really wish I did have a friend that was close and I could talk to about sc2. Lucky you =P

  • @TheGameStrike Lucky me I guess ;)

They are close to me too, so that makes it better

  • dude ur killing me :(

  • yesh awesome force of awesomeness :D

  • u can use tab to change the unit type in an armie...

  • How do you show units range? Like the detection range for ravens, or the range for siege tanks or missile turrets.

  • Out of all the videos I've watched on SC2, this is by FAR my most favorite one. Thanks :D

  • Big fan, great tips, and last but absolutely not least protoss are best!!!!

  • Really useful for a new player. Thanks

  • Very helpful Thanks

  • By the time you have theHigh Templars on 2, and the Zealots and the Stalkers set to 1, is it intuitive to use Tab to cycle through the zealots and Stalkers on 1 if you need to do the Blinking or individually separate them in the field (or anything else relevant)?

Or are there any better ways?

  • really helpful, thanks.

  • wow husky that shit helpd me ALOT

ive been playing sc since like 5 years now but ive never used hotkeys now when i am im ALOT better then how i was

    thx dude!

  • how do you delete units off of contorl groups?

  • I'm sorry, but why the hell would anyone want to memorize every single action hotkey when you can just use Grid? Could someone explain me?

  • @vihannes3 the main reason people prefer to memorize hotkeys is because with grid, attack is T

  • @smokengunz1 So? What's the difference?

  • Thanks very helpful for a noob liek me.

  • helped me so much thanks

  • You should try to do a game where its all Terran and everyone goes Nukes and go crazy with it. I can just imagine...like 15 nukes going off at the same time and there will be almost no down time.

  • I got a question. how do i deselect certain units from a group? Let's say i have an army next to my nexus, then i select everything that is on the screen, but there are some probes. What do i do about them?

  • @jonasveee Hold SHIFT, then click on the Probes on the bottom of the screen, in the box thing. It will unselect them. That was a useful thing in StarCraft 1, where in the beginning, to split the workers, you would select all of the workers, send them to a mineral patch, unselect one of them, send the rest to another patch, and repeat. The worker AI in StarCraft 2 is a lot better though, so doing such a split in StarCraft 2 isn't as important.

  • @WarriorsNumber30 thanks, i was having trouble with that :]

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Buying this game today, can you set custom keybindings?

  • @JackEOrr With the most recent update, you are able to do this.

  • @JackEOrr Yeahh i think u can in the settings and hotkeys

  • @controlum Hot keys and best force

  • didn't know the shift 1 thing to add to your army. helpful!

  • not Minecraft ;)? btw in italy it's called CANC

  • haha i use 123 for my armies different units and 098 for like the buildings and observers and units i dont like to move alot!! But this vid is useful as hell!

  • LOL putting gg at right of the end of the video :L

  • You can hold shift while warping in units to get them much faster

  • @roadkiller55 This was made in beta times.

  • @roadkiller55 ...or keep pressing the hotkey instead of pressing it really fast

  • the computer actually wrote "gg" ? WHAT?! LOL

  • @charlie5231990 its standard in sc2 games against the ai. ai is getting too smart ;)

  • It really helps. But could you talk any faster?

  • hard computer isnt hard to beat you just got to stop the first attack and with the army after the attack just attack their base they ve got no units left

  • Extremely helpful!

  • 15 people don't know how to use hotkeys!

  • @MEEDKITS you dont know how to be funny

  • you can just hold shift

  • i play random. yeah i know the hotkeys to all the races. its a bitch.

  • first time playing an RTS.. very useful info.. thanks lots

  • thanks mate, learned about shift+hotkey and what not

  • really god! thx husky!

  • computer on hard in lategame 700 apm O.o

  • why dont u just swap me ur starcraft brain and lets get it over with LOL

  • ggbb

  • Hey I asked this question on an HD video and all I got for a reponse from the subs was "Hotkeys" which didnt really explain at all... I see people putting up multiple forcefields at the same time (or it looks like it) as you did in this video. Am I missing something. Even using hotkeys i can't see it being 3 instant forcefields side by side unless they automatically do that?

  • say you have multiple buildings throughout the map, like barracks for ex.. how do you target all??

  • @ayjntghost

Hold down shift, click each building and assign them to a hot key. Go Fight Win.

  • @tapewurm9 thanks man

  • Comment removed

  • dam noobs u just nedd your warpgate selected and then hold on s . thats it

  • you can just hold the "s" button and click a bunch of times for mass warp in of stalkers

also hitting the F1 button selects a random in active worker holding shift and clicking F1 a bunch of time selects a bunch and then you can tell them to do whatever you want

  • how do you do the atack run atack run combo thingy?

im so confused on that D:

  • @KaTTiiLsM : A ?

  • @KaTTiiLsM As you moving away quickly press 's' to stop them after they have done one shot. move again. then press s... move again press s etc etc

  • @tonyth123 You can do that, but you don't actually need the S part.

  • @BlankShadowz

oh is there a better way of doing it since i suck pretty bad to be honest??

  • @tonyth123 Oh. I misread what you said.

I thought you meant to move, attack, tell them to stop, repeat. Not move, stop, repeat.

  • How do you gather all the lazy workers back to work. It takes me a long time to scan for them around the map and sometimes they're behind buildings and you can't see them. lol

  • @nartin86

Just hold shift then click the mineral line after you have set it to build something then once its finished the building it will return to the mineral line and start harvesting

  • rly? didnt know that! u know how to? would love to know!

  • of sentries AND stalkers. I can't seem to find how to do this ANYWHERE, and any help would be much appriciated.

  • @rotparxuT

Dubble click one of the sentries that will select all of that unit type

    then just ctrl+(group)

  • Hey man, great tutorial. I was wondering how you select all the units of a certian type. For instance, if I have a tightly packed group of stalker and sentries, I have to move all the sentries out of the group before setting them to a hotkey because I don't want my spellvaster group to consist

  • What happens if you have zealots, stalkers with blink and high templars? do you hotkey them to 3 diff groups?

  • is it possible to auto add things to a group, for instance like anything coming out of my warp gate to be added to group 1 or whatever

  • @crystalcape

Just select wathever to add and then press shift + 1 for group one and so on

  • @sadswede1 yeah but can you do it before they have been made... like from a building or something

  • if u press ctrl-alt-canc u can get your real life back!

  • @VITTORE87 Go back to school, and you can learn to spell!

  • @mbrhea13 it's canc in italy NBA low player ;)

  • I use a lot of hotkeys but I didn't know the "Shift+1" thing, thank you!

  • how do you clear a unit from a hot key group? say i add a queen to my hatchery hotkey how do i get it out of that group?

  • @mrJPdrummer Put something else in that group.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • thanks husky these tips helped me alot

  • After the templers to 2, how do u quickly use spells for the sentry?

  • How do you remove units from hotkey groups? o.o

  • @cloudx190 I would assume you click the individual unit and hit shift-[group#]

    Just like adding one.

  • the computer GG in the last second of the vid. Awesome

  • Husky or someone please can you help me with something: atm i use the arrow keys to move the camera, which means that it is hard to use hotkeys because they are on the other side of the keyboard. Should i use arrowkeys, or shud i move the mouse to the edge of the screen to move the camera? Is this switching between the arrowkeys and hotkey locations just something you have to get on with in SC2?

  • @kemp1222

It is better to move the camera with the mouse. Also, click on the minimap to move to a distant location. A third way to move the camera is to hit the group number of the unit/building you like to see.

Your (keyboard) hand should always stay on top of the left side of the keyboard ready to hit Ctrl, Shift or any hotkey.

  • Thank you

  • so to build buldings you use B+the bulding you want to build, But to select already built buildings you have to hot key them to 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0? and do you have to hold shift to hot key things or to spawn in units?

    Sorry major noob

  • @HeroHeroine57 i'm alittle noob myself, but from what i understand, shift is the que button, and you hold ctrl to hotkey

  • @Trym1994 Yes but you can also hold shift and press whatever number the group is to ADD your selected unit to the hotkey group.

  • Just wondering if anyone could respond to this: After he got his high templar, it replaced his sentry. Would Sentry then be hotkeyed to 4 or not at all?

  • Hey Husky, love your replay commentary - keep up the good work. I have question concerning a grid when you put down new buildings. Standard there is a grid showing where the building will be put, but on some of the replayers there are an additional two squares which makes it easier to make sure you have the the ramp blocked etc. Do you know how to get this to show?

  • THANK YOU!!!!!1

  • all of those pylons remind me as playing as scourge and putting supply depos that attack (i put 200) and i slowly built it up to my oppents bace

  • thanks

  • super helpful. thank you!

  • i know i'm going to sound like a total noob here but how do you keep your high templars to stay near the back or away from the main army?

  • @DeathMetalCC93 you micromanage them, and to the best your ability keep them in the back. xD

  • @sinblesser oh lol i thought there was some sorta button to press or w/e but thx tho

  • @DeathMetalCC93 ^^ just a skill you gotta get used too to become proo!

  • @DeathMetalCC93 well double click them and them send them a little farther away behind you front line they will then take less damage!

  • Hello, thanks for your tutorials! Now I Have a question, how do you take away any unit from a group?

  • @victoriapassariello

Hold shift then click the unit you want to remove, either on the map or in the box with all the units.
