@PAINTBALL55 I agree. Grand-Am isn't really cutting it for me as it's run by the people who run NASCAR, and the ALMS and World Challenge series don't get enough exposure.

And it's like I say all the time...that is REAL stock car racing. Not the purpose-built "stock" cars that run in NASCAR.

I was going to say he's getting ahead so quick mostly because he puts the other guy in a compromising position where they just have to slow down. I guess what you said is essentially the same thing though. Also, notice how he always countersteers so well, and always goes full-throttle in corners, hugging as much of the track as he can.

Yeah. I do karting and once you've raced a kart and get into your road car, you notice a difference right away.

Here's something I'm confused about - this guy obviously is a kick-ass driver, the car seems to be setup perfectly, and he's passing cars left, right and centre. But why is he so far behind to start with? I saw another race and noticed the same thing there too. Or is it some weird qualifying format where ur starting position is reversed like they do in GP2(I think)?

No, the Porsche driver was dabbing the brake pedal with his left foot whilst staying flat on the accelerator with his right. The reason for the dab was to bring the brake pads back up to the face of the disc. During hard cornering and kerb hopping you get what's known as "Brake pad knock off", which means the brake pads are further away from the disc face than they should be. With knock off, you have a long brake pedal and can get different brake bias than you want. Google brake pad knock off.

Are you suggesting that the clips attached to the caliper hold the brake pads so they can't move more than a very small distance from the disk face?

Vaya PASADA de circuito tenemos en Valencia. Como valenciano estoy muy orgulloso de que todos estos grandes eventos deportivos se hagan en mi ciudad.

Es un circuito rapidisimo y donde se ve claramente que SE PUEDE ADELANTAR casi en todos los puntos del circuito.

Gran espectaculo veremos los dias 23 y 24 de agosto.
